Yep it's that time of year. It starts with the Halloween Candy and doesn't end til the New Years Celebratory roast. I've been looking for things that I can eat that are candy-ish and don't leave me feeling like I've been left out when everyone else is downing miniature candy bars and candy corn. Any suggestions?
for sweetness.......a low carb vanilla(sugar free) yogurt with a splash of sugar free hazelnut or vanilla coffee creamer plus 3-5 chopped walnut halves and a little chopped apple.....it is delicious!!!!!!!!!if it is really cold it's like an ice cream suday to me
yum!
at halloween i believe in soup soup soup...i make a big pot of low calorie veggie soup or chili...it is so filling...having a tummy full of protein, and giving myself that 20 minutes to feel full really helps with the sugar cravings....also followed by a cup of sugar free cocoa, and if you want to feel like you are being treated and not tricked, allow yourself to add a marshmellow or two and feel ok about it....helps alot if you are a chocolate nut......
but mostly get the protein in there first.....i swear by the soup thing
I'm a chocoholic. The active Lifestyles frozen yogurt is fabulous as it has less calories than a lot of the low fat ice creams out there and active cultures to help your digestion.
Hillary,
I love the Blue bunny or Skinny Cow ice cream. I realize it's cooler outside, but I still love ice cream.
I also love Quakes. They are sweet and light. The trouble is when I start eating them, it is hard to stop. I have to portion out a few and then put the bag away in the kitchen. I like the Caramel Corn flavor, Honey flavor.
I also like the Mini Delights, they are little rice cakes that are flavored and already in a little 90 calorie package.
I can eat a piece of candy, but I'd rather use my calories for other foods, like fruit or meat, etc. I have a Halloween party Tuesday for the students (can you believe I am the party planner for my nursing college? I will bring my own snacks.
Anyway, take your own snacks, eat before you go to a party and leave the trick or treating for little kids.
