What is your favorite low-cal mixed-alcoholic drink?
I'm going on a cruise in a few weeks and plan on staying away from the frozen mixed drinks when sitting by the pool but need a substitute or I will cave. I don't like beer and usually drink wine when out in the evening but would like something a little more fun when hanging out by the pool during the day. I'm thinking that a bay breeze may do the trick but not sure how many cals in that. Any other drink suggestions out there? Appreciate your help. Thanks!
I am a Bacardi & Diet girl. Diet doesn't count as any calories and each shot of Bacardi is only I think 100 calories. I believe clear alcohols are more calorie friendly than others. And they get the job done
Check out drinksmixer.com! They've got tons of recipes and a majority of them have their caloric content.
I love Whiskey Sours almost as much as Alex, but my all time favourite is vodka. Galens 151 vodka with diet soda. It only takes half a shot to have me passed out on the sidewalk.
vodka & club soda is my favourite (about 90 cals, but the sodium can add up). watch out - they will have daily drink specials on the cruise. don't get sucked in by the $2 mojitos!!
Gin and diet tonic and or vodka and diet tonic - don't know if they'll have diet tonic on the cruise though.
Whiskey and diet, rum and diet.
At home I mix crystal light with vodka.
Bacardi Razz and Diet Coke.
Vanilla Vodka and Diet Coke.
Sugar free Red-Bull and Vodka.
To me, none of the mixed drinks are worth it. Vodka is like 64 calories per shot. I would rather eat a snack than drink my calories away. Just my opinion. Not being a negative nelly or anything.
Malibu and Diet Coke-it's soooo good-but be careful they don't taste like alcohol so it's easy to drink them too fast!
I am a firm believer in the Cruzan Flavored Rum Line. I love the Black Cherry and diet coke. Taste just like a cherry coke. That particular flavor is fairly new so I cannot find the exact nutritinal info, but all the other flavors are around 50-80 calories per shot. About the same as most vodka drinks I guess. Just beware anything with dark rum, creams, or fruit juice. All those things will seriously pack on even more unwanted calories. All in all better than beer and fruity cocktails, but I would suggest trying to stick to water and keep yourself entertained with the myriad of fun things to do while on a cruise. I am thinking it won't be too hard for you :)
I really don't know what I would call it but this what I make.. kinda like a vodka molito type drink.. In a tall glass with ice..
Fresh mint leaves
Orange flavored vodka (I like mandrin absolut)
a shot of sweet and sour
fill the glass almost the rest of the way up with clob soda
Top it off with cranberry juice... if I am at home I use (light cranberry)
Its a yummy drink :O)
Crystal Light with vodka too!!
For some reason, I can't drink diet coke w/ vodka.... its REALLY horrible to me. And I normally do like diet coke!!
Thanks everyone. I like the Crystal Lite idea cause I like vodka but not really too much with soda...i used to use Crystal Light with vodka way back when and forgot about that little trick....thanks for reminding me. Not sure how I will handle the cruise. I know they will not serve crystal light at the bar but suppose i could bring those little Crystal Light packets with me but think it would be kind of weird carrying the packets around with my suntan lotion and ordering a shot of vodka with a glass of cold water and then mixing up my own little drink. Talk about drawing attention to yourself for being on a diet! LOL. Thanks for all your suggestions. I think maybe I will try them all. :)
I like raspberry Smirnoff Twist with diet 7-up.
What do you like to eat?
I am currently taking a bar tending class and you can basically ask a bar tender for anything. So are you a cosmopolitan girl or more of gin and tonic.
How do you like your drink sweet , strong, sour or tart ?
I try to stay away from beverages with the word "diet" in them. Can't help to think there's something very unhealthy with all those E's, the amount of aspartam, e.t.c.
Give me a couple of pints instead (300) or 8 (1200). I'll just eat less that day and work out more the next ;-)
Last weekend I had a raspberry vodka with club soda. It was wonderful and will be my new drink of choice. I'm excited to try it with other flavored vodkas. If you prefer something sweeter, have them add a splash of juice (cran, OJ, etc). The "splash" should be less than one ounce, which according to CC, one ounce of cranberry juice cocktail has only 18 calories. The juice plus the vodka is still well under 100 calories...not too bad. Now you just have to worry about the chocolate buffet :)
Crystal Light or a similar low-cal drink mix and vodka is an excellent choice, or the Lo-Carb Monster and vodka. Tab is also a great soda for mixing with. If you're mixing the drinks yourself, just be liberal with the low-cal/diet soda or other mixer. Personally I love Stoli Blueberry vodka, but it has sugar, so you may want to stay away from it. Then there's always gin and tonic with a twist of lemon or lime, or citrus flavored seltzer water/club soda.
you can bring the little crystal light packets on the cruise! i did that on my last cruise! :)
BEER! YUMMMMMMM
I LOVE coors light.....not really low cal however there is nothing like cold beer!
