Yes, I know it's not the best for us but let's face it we don't all ALWAYS have time to cook a gourmet meal.
Just wanted everyone to share their favorite low calorie fast food options. Maybe it will save someone from giving up and going with an unhealthy option sometime.
:)
If I must, I go for Taco Bell Crunchy Beef Taco Fresco Style- only 150 calories!
Reason: Released as Food Forum Sticky
I've been crazy about Rubio's kids meals.. the bean & cheese burritos are only about 500 calories & they're vegetarian! It's a good dinner option for me.
Sounds good I didn't even think of Rubios!
I also do Chipotle crunchy tacos. Three of them with chicken, green and red salsa and lettuce is only 430 calories.
mcdonald's southwest salad with grilled chicken. love love love. only like 420 calories.
BK Whopper Jr, no mayo, no cheese. 310 cals. Its one of the few fast foods I actually like.
Chick-fi-la chargrilled chicken sandwich with a fruit cup and unsweet iced tea. All of it is under 400 cals and the chicken gives you the protein to keep you full for a while.
see...i LOVE topics like these...there are people who might say..i don't eat fast food so it doesn't apply, and i hate that...wee bit of a rant i know but had to express it.
well i'm one of those people who can almost say that i NEVER eat fast food. however, i will talk in terms of if i HAD TO...these are the low cal things i adore...
side salads from anywhere but typically mcdonald's, carl's jr., or jack in the box
burrito supreme from taco bell with no sour cream b/c it's disgusting :)
any soups that are broth based--quiznos and subway come to mind, also veggie sandwiches, and salads from these 2 places
subway: apple slices, yogurt cups, and baked chips
fruit cups from wendys and apple fries from burger king
fruit and walnut salad from mcdonald's
panda express--steamed veggies and chow mein with spring rolls and egg drop soup
starbucks' fruit and cheese plate, protein plate, or fruit salad cup thing
that's about it for me, that i can think of at the moment at least. :)
At Culver's (Home of the Butter Burger) An Original Butterburger Single with Side Salad and Rasberry Vinegarette dressing... just over 400 cals
Arby's Chicken Club Sandwich... 500 calories but so worth it! :) BTW they should be giving away free Regular Roast Beef Sandwiches with drink purchase this WED. 6/24
Wendy's small chili, 220 calories.
Egg McMuffin, 300 calories.
Dairy Queen kiddie cone soft serve - 150 calories!!
McDonalds Chicken Nugget Kid Meal - around 450 cals
In n Out burgers. Their hamburger with ketchup instead of the sauce is 350, sometimes I could event afford(in terms of calories) two.
Sonic's Southwest Grilled Chicken salad!
And then...sometimes...a Whopper, no mayo. But I usually only eat half of it and give the rest to hubby....
Subway's spinach chicken salad with red wine vinegarette for dressing. No cheese. Under 200 calories (150?) for a dish loaded with veggies!
The way I see it its ok to eat the odd bit of ‘Fast food’ if your eating right and increasing your metabolism rather than starving yourself the odd treat once a month wont hurt you.
I don’t see eating low calorie fast food as bad as long as its not high fat / salt.
If I was going to have a ‘Cheat day’ id have a Pizza, “ I LOVE Pizza”. A Dominos pizza with garlic and herb / sweet chilli dips :) lets not even work out how much calories and fat are in a medium pizza with dips :P
But I would do it on a exorcise day where I played sport for a few hours to offset some of the extra calories.
Not quite what you were asking but hey.
I don't eat fast food a lot but here are some of my favorites. My subway staple is a 6in veggie on wheat with lettuce, spinach, tomato, pickles, banana and green peppers, mustard, slat and pepper and apples or bagged lays depends on the day lol.
Surprisingly the BK veggie burger(no mayo) is really good. The bun has too many calories for me so i throw the bottom part off and cut the top part in half and just use that or ask for extra lettuce and forget the bun. Plus I like the apple fried![]()
Taco Bell I'll do a fresco styled bean burrito no cheese no onions. I think that's about it. Oh does Chipotle count as fast food? That's a hard one to eat healthy at lol. I get a salad with fajita veggies, black beans, a bit of all 3 salsa's no dressing, cheese or sour cream, and I still have to have the guac lol.
i do not really go to fast food chains, but if i do i usually get a 6 inch turkey breast sub from subway w/ veggies and mustard. Also when FH and I are in SC we stop at a Sonic- i get the grilled chicken salad w/ fat free italian dressing. yum!
i love a regular old McDonald's cheeseburger happy meal with a diet coke. it's about 520 calories, not too bad for an entire meal that gives me my burger and fry fix! and you get a toy :p
i also love mcdonald's apple dippers and the fruit and yogurt parfait.
love wendy's grilled chicken sandwich, their ceasar side salad, and their small chili. and a kid's frosty is an awesome treat for 160 calories!
Wendy's Small Chili and baked potato is about 600 cals.
McDonald's Grilled Chicken Ceasar salad but with the fat free Italian dressing instead of ceasar is about 400.
KFC Grilled chicken breast and green beans is about 250.
Chef Wok Green Bean Chicken and 1 egg roll is about 500 without the fried rice.
Mcdonald's hamburger is only 250 calories. Also Mcdonald's Fruit & Yogurt Parfait (with granola) has only 160 calories, and without granola it has 130 calories. And their vanilla ice cream cone has 150 calories.
At Taco Bell, the fresco soft taco with either grilled steak or ranchero chicken has 160 calories.
At Chick-fil-a the chargrilled chicken sandwich has 260 calories and 27 gm of protein!
fresco chicken supreme taco bell: 330 calories.
I live in Australia now and am craving all of this fast food you guys keep mentioning! I'm coming home for a visit in a few weeks and I'm glad that you guys have done the research for me so I can keep my diet on track and still indulge.
My favorite is the Boston Market Kid's Meal with turkey. You get 3 oz turkey, a side and a piece of cornbread. If you ask nicely, they'll substitute another side for the cornbread and that will save you some cals. I normally get a side of sweet potato casserole (only diet-friendly in the kid's meal size) and a side of green beans. Under 500 cals. If you get a diet-friendly side instead of the SPC you can save more cals but I LOVE the SPC so...
Basically, I stick with the kid's menu anytime I go to a fast food or fast casual eatery. Kid's meals at Fuddrucker's, PF Chang's, McD's, McAllister's, Sonic & Chik-fil-A are pretty decent too. (I spent my days in the States as a self-employed music teacher and was frantically dashing between schools at lunchtime.)
Ahh....now I'm craving sweet potato casserole and Dr Pepper!
