Ladies,

what is your favorite make up brand? why do you think it is the best?

I am between Dior and bareMinerals. Has anyone tried any of these?

Sephora's in-store brand, Hard Candy and Mac.

Milani.

I don't have an all-time favourite, but I like the Liner Feutre felt-tip eyeliner from Bourjois. As a brand in general, I guess for now I really like Shiseido's Majolica Majorca: http://www.majolica-majorca.com

Use different brands for different things.  Love L'Oreal voluminous mascara, use E.L.F. eye shadows, eye liner and bronzer, Revlon foundation and L'Oreal long lasting lipwear.

I swear by Bare Minerals.  I have persistent adult acne, and the condition of my skin improved dramatically when I started using powder mineral makeup - I'll never go back to liquid foundation or concealer again.  I'm willing to use other brands for eyeliner, shadow, and blush, depending on color and cost.

There are other mineral makeups out there that are way less expensive, but Bare Minerals is the first one I tried, and I liked it so much I stuck with it.  I don't know how the others compare in quality, color, etc.

Gemey-Maybelline for foundation, MAC for eyeshadow, Rimmel or L'Oréal for mascara and Max Factor for lipstick (if I decide to wear lipstick, which is probably once a year).
I am also in love with the Body Shop's lip glosses/butters - they keep your lips really soft and smell great :)

I also swear by bare Minerals... I love it, I have tried other powder make ups  amd hated all of them.  I use cheapo drug store eyeliner (revlon) and Cover Girl Shimmering Sands Eye Shadow... they have been the same since I was in high school..

I too loved Bare Minerals.  Covered up my Rosacea.  I can't afford it any more.  Avon makes a wonderful line of mineral make-up.  So I have switched to that.  It's about 1/3 the cost, and just as effective when covering up the redness.  I don't like the Avon brushes though.  Luckily I still had my Bare Mineral brushes.

I stopped using bare minerals when I discovered that it contains oxybismuth chloride. It's a filler that's made up of tiny particles that can, and do, clog pores. It made my pores look bigger and deeper, so I stopped using it.

I switched to 'everyday minerals' which is an online company that gives you FREE SAMPLES of their makeup (you pay shipping and handling, that's it) so you can test, mix, and find your right shade.

And no, I don't work for them, I was just astounded to see that a company would offer you three shades of their makeup, a blush, and a concealer all the tiniest cutest little jars (by tiny I mean about the size around of a quarter, and about half an inch tall), and give it to you free - s&h.

I now use them exclusively for cover up and face powder.

I LOVE MAC EYESHADOWS. Unfortunately, they are very expensive, and as such I have only collected about 12 of them, plus a palette to put them all in.

I really love soft lips chapstick for my lips, because they're always dry, and that stuff is a miracle worker.

There's also another online line of makeup called ELF. 1 dollar per item, but the makeup is about half the quality of most makeup out there. Fun to play with though.

i use origins foundation (in butterscotch!), l'oreal/revlon for lipstick/lipgloss, covergirl for blush (no one else has the right color!), and i don't know who for eyeliner and mascara. i rarely wear eyeshadow b/c i don't think i'm appyling it correctly.

i'm too cheap to try mac, and i never feel i look good in the samples the sephora girls try on me.

I remembered the name wrong. It's actually bismuth oxychloride. Click on the link, then go down to 'applications'.

From this link: “Bismuth oxychloride can aggravate acne, resulting in flare-ups upon use, and even cause the appearance of acne cysts,” says Manhattan-based dermatologist Judith Hellman, MD. “In addition, it may be the source of rashes in patients sensitive to it, especially those with delicate and easily irritated skin, such as rosacea and eczema patients.” No wonder many mineral makeup manufacturers are now eliminating bismuth oxychloride from their formulations.

nobody votes for DIOR :)) why is that? I love their " pure poison" perfume by the way.

It sounds like MAC is a good brand too.

Has anyone heard of laurageller make up?

This is curious, because from when I started using Bare Minerals, most of my flare ups and cysts decreased - the condition of my skin actually improved.  Reduced breakouts, no itching, no rashes.

Maybe I'm one of the exceptions - but I've had nothing but a positive experience with it.

I've heard amazing things about Diorshow mascara (by Dior).  I just ordered it for myself, and to put into my sister's Christmas stocking.  I hope it's as nice as everyone says!

For other makeup, I adore Urban Decay.  I bought my first shadow from them because I was lured in by the eyeshadow names, which are pretty sweet (examples:  Smog, Last Call, Midnight Cowboy, Shotgun, Sin, Asphyxia, Roach), and I fell in love.  They also have this amazing glitter eyeliner called Heavy Metal, and if you know me, you'll know that I'd be infatuated with any product with that moniker, let alone a glittery eyeliner.  :)

I use different brands for different types of makeup, but the one I like the most is Laura Mercier. A friend turned me on to that brand. It's the only time I've had one of those in-store makeovers and felt like they made me look way better instead of worse (usually I feel like I look like a clown after a make-up makeover in a department store).

I don't use Clinique makeup but I use some of their skin care products.

Covergirl, Revlon, MaxFactor, Mabelliene..You know the cheaper drug store brands. :P

;)

For my foundation I use Mac studio fix. Other than that I tend to go for Urban Decay--they have great colors and names. I want to like Smashbox because they have such great packaging, but none of the colors they make have grabbed me.

Benefit. I'm a sucker for their cutesy packaging and silly names. And it looks nice too.

I used to use Mac Studio Fix...used it for years, in fact. Great matte coverage without looking or feeling heavy and lovely pale shades for my fair skin. I stopped using it when I discovered that the particles in it do something wierd when used with flash photography, I could never figure out why I looked like the undead in pictures until my cousin, a photographer/esthetician, filled me in. So now I look normal in pictures, but I sure do miss the makeup.

Now I use Lancome when I can afford it, which is not much anymore, fortunately Maybelline makes a pretty good mousse makeup I am ok with, and L'Oreal superblendable powder is pretty good too.

For eyeshadows, I love pupa, Lancome, and anything that has saturated shimmery colours, I am a sucker for shimmer.

For lipgloss, Sephora makes excellent texture lipgloss but they also make really bad ones, it's kind of hit or miss. I had a little beachball lipgloss quad I used until it was completely empty. Right now I am totally into a lipcolour by Maybelline called Superstay, it's a lip stain with a clear lip conditioner that goes over it. It really does stay on all day, and I love being able to just touch up with clear gloss or lip balm!

For mascara, I like Maybelline. I have used all sorts of fancy high end stuff, and Maybelline is the best, Funny.

Actually I have used lots of different products from the very expensive to the drug-store cheap, and I have to say, this is not a case where more $ = better quality. I remember buying a Dior lip gloss that leaked all over, even with careful lip lining/powdering/blotting. I think it's more about finding the right product for you....and boy do I have a big collection to prove I've tried a lot!

Wow this is an embarassingly long post about makeup. Sorry. I do love my makeup!
