Favorite Between Meal Snacks?
I was just wondering if anyone knew of a good, low calorie snack to tide me over between meals? A lot of times I find that I'm super hungry about an hour before I'm planning on eating, so I don't want something too big, just something to munch on. Anyone have a favorite snack that you have to tide you over between meals?
Sorry if this is repetitive - I tried to search the forums and didn't find much. :)
Reason: Released as sticky
I'd say a small apple with some cucumber or celery.
Or some really good yogurt.
:)
for me i usually have 100g serving natural acidophilus yogurt with 1/3 cup all bran buds mixed in.. crunchy yet creamy and very satisfying at only125cals
or you could go with a serving of your fav fruits but make it a crudite - gosh i loooooooove apples though no matter what you do with it.
BANANA's they are the best!!!!!!!!!!![]()
yogurt or rice cakes, depending on the texture I'm craving
-apples
-frozen grapes
-crystal light (i like lemonade) mixed with water & ice in the blender--makes sort of a 5 calorie slushee
-diet soda
-black coffee or an americano/espresso
-baby carrots or celery, dipped in mustard or salsa
-chugging cold water
-chewing ice
-GUM! i prefer orbit

My fave is a cut up apple with some ground cinnamon and a little stevia (all natural sweetener) put in a plastic bag and shake it up!. It is filling full of fiber and cinnamon is very good for you lots of antioxidants.

Water and fruit normally get me through to my meal times.
Being hungry at a meal time is good though it shows your metabolism is working hard and wants more fuel.
is it just a "meal" time, or hungry in general? what depicts a meal time? your body gets used to eating at breakfast/lunch/dinner time for example? i am just wondering! thanks
^answer to your question, I have gotten my body used to eating every 3hrs about. so I eat breakfast at 7/730 and then I start to feel a little hungry again at 10ish then Im usually ready for my lunch at 12/1230 then I will have a snack about 3ish. its not an OMG im starving feeling but if you set a pattern like that it will be just a little nudge of hungry then you eat your meal or snack and then it goes away and over time you will start to feel satisfied. Eat slowly and drink water too while you eat it will help cut the hunger.
My fave snacks are green apples, gogurt and almonds. mmmm
100 cal popcorn, cottage cheese, almond butter & honey :)
- Any fruit or vedge is a great choice. I would recommend having the fruit with some type of nut butter, nut, or seeds and the vedge with hummus or nut butter (remember from elementary school the celery, peanut butter, and raisin "ants on a log" recipe) - to quench your hunger.
- Ever tried laughing cow cheese? Take that and spread it on a flat out wrap and toast it. I also take a smudge of refried beans, salsa, and some jalapeños and put that on a flat out wrap and toast that. Another option I do sometimes is to take some peanut butter and spread it on a flat out wrap and toast that and put a banana on top. Or you could just forget about toasting it all together and have it cold.
-Shrimp cocktail, raw imitation crabmeat, and canned/packaged tuna.
-Luna bars/larabars/gnu bars/any type of granola bar are great every once in a while.
-The classic yogurt & whatever you feel like adding combo. Any cereal, any fruit, any nut, any seed, any granola you want.
