Okay, so I know from experience that there are a lot of protein powders out there that pretty much taste like chalk, and that those that don't are typically WAY too sweet from the addition of sugar substitutes and whatnot.

I had tried...

  • Jay Robb whey - whey too sweet and the stevia left a strong aftertaste.
  • Perfect Protein whey - wierd artifical taste and almost flakey texture.
  • GeniSoy soy protein - really, really chalky and tasted like dust.
  • Biochem whey - good, but kinda off-tasting. Liked that there were no added sugars though.
  • NutriBiotic brown rice protein - again, really chalky and gross looking. I don't know if that's just how most non-whey powders are, but it was nasty.
  • Living Harvest hemp protein - well, it was green for one thing. Hahah. It had a very strong flavor and didn't really mix well into anything. The texture was very coarse and almost dirt-like.

I finally found a brand that I like in almost all areas considered, and that would be Solgar's Whey To Go vanilla bean whey protein. It tastes really good, has no sugars or sugar substitutes (or stevia), and it has only 100 calories and 24 grams of protein per 30g.

What brand do you guys like?

My favorite too. :-) I've turned quite a few people on to it as well! Very tasty and natural tasting as well.

I like the unflavored, unsweetened whey protein isolate from www.trueprotein.com - it's all protein, no fat or carbs, so 110 calories / 27g protein per 30g scoop.  It doesn't really taste like anything - I guess a kind of faint protein powder taste, but I really can barely taste it in milk or a smoothie. You have to pay for shipping of course, but it's less than $8 a pound.

Anything whey I find good and I certainly can't complain much about the variety you get these days. As for hemp hearts, I hate the taste but mix the real hearts (not the powder) with my multi-grain cereal and it's not so bad. I mostly stick with the cheapest whey because eventually you will get used to it. When I started working out you had two choices: gross "vanilla" soy or grosser "vanilla" egg protein powders. Eventually I even started liking the flavour just proving it killed my taste buds.

I have tried both Absolute Whey (in plain and vanilla), and Absolute Whey Isolate (in plain) from:

http://www.interactivenutrition.com/products/ absolutewhey.php

The Whey protein is 100% ALL Natural, multi-whey protein formula that is low in fat and carbs (110 calories), and contains 22g of protein per 30g scoop. I use it almost everyday and find it tastes pretty good, even the plain, unflavoured one.

The Whey Isolate protein is basically the same thing, only being a little lower in fat and lactose, containing no cholesterol, and containing 25g of protein per 30g scoop as opposed to 22g, like the concentrate.

My favorite is Nectar - the fuzzy navel flavor

I also love Myoplex Lite

^This!

synthe six. I had a sample at this vitamin store. I will buy it next time I get paid, cause they mixed it with water, yet it tasted better than most that have milk. It was really creamy, and had a great flavor. There were flavors like cookies n cream and vanilla ice cream.

I like Genuine Health's vanilla protein powder.

I just bought designer whey to go protein powder single serves. I got it in the pomegranite. Its deff too sweet to put in milk but in a normal poland spring water it tastes pretty good.

i like one that is made from PEAS its pea protein powder made from green peas its a vegan one its very nutty tasting and all natural :)

Oh, I have also tried VEGA powder too. Anyone else had experiences with this one? It reminds me a lot of hemp protein (probobly because it's green and contains some hemp powder, along with peas, rice, etc.) but it's not nearly as "dirty" tasting. I like that it's not as sweet as most stevia-sweetened brands, but the protein is a bit lacking.

i just picked up Sprouts Farmers Market Show Me the Whey Strawberry.

OMG yum!!! twice the price but really delicious. no rBGH. no nothing artificial. only 18g protein though.

I love the Jay Robb whey!
