Favorite sandwiches?

Quote  |  Reply
The sandwich, as we all know, is one of those classic foods that everyone eats yet everyone has their own way of making.  So share them: what is your favorite thing to slap between two slices of bread?  We could all get some creative ideas from this thread :)

Some of my favorites are:

1) Peanut butter and jelly!!! My all-time favorite food.  Thanks to PB2 and the good people at Smuckers, I can have one every day.

2) Tomato and fat-free mayo, with a little salt and pepper.  Made with home-grown tomatoes.

3) Tomato and hummus.  Works great between bread or in a pita.

4) Chicken (or turkey) and ketchup.  That's it, plain and simple.

5) Peanut butter and banana. Yum.

Egg salad with either Light Miracle Whip and spicy mustard mixed all together with minced celery and red onion OR just boiled egg, salt, pepper, and a drizzle of Light Ranch on top.  Both on whole wheat toast.

Any meat sandwich (turkey breast, grilled chicken breast, ham, bacon *gasp*, although bacon is a fond memory for me these days) MUST have Light Miracle Whip, sweet/hot mustard, crisp iceburg, Vlassic ovals, red onion, and either regular roasted red bell pepper cut up or the Stackers brand, whichever I have on hand.  YUM.

Canned chicken salad with Light MW, spicy mustard, green grape halves, diced Granny Smith apple, a chopped nut (toasted almonds or walnuts), a little avocado, and minced red onion and celery.

Chunky peanut butter, chopped banana, and a little orange marmalade all mixed together on whole wheat toast.

Peanut butter and fluff
Peanut butter and jelly
Peanut butter, banana, and honey (Havn't had one in forever though)
Egg salad sandwich (Also, havn't had one in forever)
BLT made with extra lean turkey bacon, cherry tomatoes, and fat-free mayo.

And I'm not sure about this because I havn't tried it, but my mom swears by this sandwich. She puts turkey and cranberry sauce on a sandwich.. she says it tastes like thanksgiving? Haha, idk.
Jshar:  Your mom is right, turkey and cranberry on a sandwich or wrap ROCKS.  I do it frequently using whole berry cranberry, just a tablespoon is all you need.  It's also awesome on chicken breast sandwich/wraps.
Light cream cheese, sweet chilli sauce and turkey/chicken

Jaffle (its like a sandwhich but ta press turns it into a little pocket) - chicken, tomato paste (no added salt) a thin slice of shaved 97%ff ham, a slice of lf cheese, and a generously sprinling of herbs = Chicken parm jaffle, which is not that bad on cals!!

Tuna or ham, tomato and laughing cow light toasted
Banana and PB toasted (I like the toasting)
Sesame seeded turkish bun, breast chicken, lettuce, cucumber.
Beef, beetroot, pineapple, tomato, lettuce, onion (cooked) and BBQ sauce, so very aussie

If I want to be evil? hot chips and tomato sauce!!!

My new favorite is smoked turkey breast and sliced tomatoes from my garden. Yummy.
i like to microwave a boca burger, put it into a pita with a piece of fat free cheese and then stick that into the microwave for 15 seconds. then i add ketchup. if i'm making a regular sandwich i normally toast my bread, then i add: oscar meyers thinly sliced turkey or chicken, mushrooms, lettuce, red onion, ff cheese and tomato. sometimes i substitute the ff cheese with a wedge of light laughing cow cheese.

peanut butter on whole wheat.

nutella and banana on cinnamon raisin!

grilled cheese!!!!

I love sandwiches I would be happy with anything really....
wow before i read this post i used to just eat
2 pieces of bread with 3 pieces of lean ham. after reading some of your guys favorite sandwhiches i decided to spice mine up a little.

2 pieces of whole wheat bread
2 pieces of lean ham
some iceberg lettuce
thick cuts of tomato
mustard and ff mayo

wow. what a difference. it was soooo much better. and much more filling and basically the same calories.

if anyone else is like me, who is too lazy to put other condiments into their sandwhiches. dont be, it is sooooooo much better with some vegatables and mustard/ff mayo/ff cheese/ketchup/or whatever u like.
slice of wheat bread with apple butter spread and a sliced banana! mmmm delicious!!
Peanut butter and jelly is by far my favorite, but there are a few others I like too:

-Ham and Cheese made on the George Foreman with kraft fat free singles

-Toasted whole wheat, laughing cow, seasoned chicken breast, lettuce, peppers

-Good ol' grilled cheese (no butter or anything, just plain bread and cheese)

-Turkey, brie, cranberry relish
peanut butter (i don't like jelly. i use naturally more PB)
TURKEY! my absolute favorite, simple, but so good. i always have it with lettuce and cheese, and sometimes tomato. i like it the best with laughing cow swiss, but fat free American is pretty good too.
grilled cheese (2 slices fat free American, a few sprays of I Can't Believe It's Not Butter)
grilled chicken is pretty good too.
"blt" (turkey bacon, lettuce, & tomato. simple.)
tuna w/ barely any mayo (i hate a lot of mayo)

and i think that's it. nothing out of the ordinary really.
Ham and avacado on french bread. So good!!!

Are we talking "healthy and good for you" sandwich or the kind I loved in my previous life as a non-calorie-counter?

If it is the latter, hands down the classic Rueben.  Ummmm!  Lots of corned beef, swiss cheese, sauerkraut, thousand island dressing dripping off the sides on buttered, grilled rye or pumpernickle bread.  Oh my goodness!  Drool!

If it is this calorie counting life,  the turkey burger on the Foreman grill, then grilled again on light wheat, one slice cheese of various varieties and maybe onions.  Still pretty tasty when my husband makes it for me.

  1. tuna sandwiches, mmmm.
  2. peanut butter and jelly.
  3. peanut butter and turkey. (not kidding, don't knock it 'til you try it)
  4. balogni sandwiches.
  5. turkey sandwiches with mayo (not the sliced turkey, i mean like REAL turkey like the leftover turkey from thanksgiving kinda turkey)
oh, and nutellas good too.
peanut butter and pickle sandwich. sounds gross but its sooo good. my grandma got me eating this one.
It's gotta be cajun chicken with cheese, onions and peppers ... toasted and with coleslaw on the side ... mmm!
My breakfast is usually a sandwich.  Either PB and banana like many have said ...or hummus with leftover veggies, like leftover steamed broccoli, carrots, spinach or stirfry go good with some hummus on toast or in a pita.  Add some sliced raw zucchini or red peppers for crunch.     So good I crave this now for breakfast and not regular breakfast food anymore!

Also one that I created is leftover cooked greens like spinach or kale (who likes to eat leftover cooked spinach!?) mix with some feta cheese and eat it in a sandwich with the hummus or some chicken or turkey (leftover or deli meat.)  The feta-spinach mix also makes a good grilled cheese variation.
My faves have to be tuna melt (mmmmm), smoked salmon and cream cheese (mmmmmmmmmm) and chicken, sundried tomatoes and mozarella (yum yum....)
I actually really like hummus, lettus, tomato and turkey on whole wheat pita.

I'm also a sucker for a tomato sandwhich made up like it's a cheeseburger. Bread, mustard, tomato, lettus, onion, and a slice of cheese.

My favorite comfort food sandwhich is a plain 'ole bannana sandwhich with just a little bit of mayo. That is actually the one thing I can stomache mayo with.

There there is the good old stand by of PB and J(am). I love sandwhiches.
i havent tried much sandwiches, the ones you guys listed sound so goood!
but my favorites are:

1. peanut butter & jelly
2. turkey, lettuce, tomato (sometimes cheese - either havarti or light laughing cow swiss)
3. toasted chicken terriyaki from subways w/ american cheese,  lettuce, tomatoes, mayo
4. nutella
5. chicken gyro!
6. cream cheese & strawberry jam
7. grilled cheese
