Your Favorite Snack

Quote  |  Reply

I was wondering what everyone's favorite snack was while I was enjoying mine.  I love to have an Oroweat sandwich thin and a one of the "Tribe all natural hummus" individual serving containers. Mmmm

They have individual serving containers of hummus? Niceee. I have yet to try the sandwich thins by Orowheat but soon! I have a couple of favorites as far as snacks go-

  • homemade red pepper/jalapeno hummus with baked tortilla chips or carrots.
  • sliced apples with some brown sugar and cinnamon topped with little under 1oz of shredded cheddar. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes or broil for a few just until cheese has melted.
  • one whole tomato sliced and topped with some sweet onions, thinly sliced along with 1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese then 2-3 tbsp (light) italian dressing and let set for 1 hour. (goes great with chicken in a wrap and some lettuce!)

MMMM!

grapes and baby carrots

my favorite snack is - Emerald cocoa roast almonds - just a 100 calories per individual pack, great with a tall cup of green tea.

ice cream if I'm being naughty

apple (sliced and sprinkled with cinnamon) and 2% string cheeese if I'm being good

What isn't my favorite snack? During the week, I'm really good and having snacks that keep me full: apple, banana, fiber bar (i know, i know, full of sugar, but it's better than a candy bar), and just yesterday I made brushetta with sesame crackers, feta cheese, sliced tomatoes and a few green olives...DELICIOUS!, rice cakes come in all flavors now and are pretty good, or I'll spread some Peanut butter on it.

Lately for dessert I've been cutting up an apple into cubes, sprinkling with cinnamon and nutmeg, adding a tiny bit of water and oatmeal, a sprinkling of brown sugar, and microwaving it til the apples get all soft and the liquid at the bottom gets syrupy. It tastes like apple pie!

I like nonfat Greek yogurt with some cereal in it for a snack too. Or some almonds. Or a Kashi granola bar. And nonfat cottage cheese with blueberries or a pear cut up is pretty good as well.

My favourite after dinner snack right now is:

2 cups or so of whatever fruit we have (apples, grapes, bananas, melons, etc)
80-100 g of Source Fat Free Vanilla or Peach Yogurt
10-20 g of Bran Buds (depending on how much fiber I still need for the day)

All that for about 200 calories and it is just so yummy. BF is eating his chips and I really don't want any as this is so filling. I call it my dessert parfait.

If the chips do call my name, I love the Baked Lays Doritos or pretzels.

weight watchers or skinny cow ice cream sandwiches as a weekend treat.

every day as a snack i usually eat 90 calorie granola bars, activia light yogurt, baby carrots

My all time favorite snack is cheese and crackers. So, I get those laughing cow wedges (50 cals for one) and spread that on one serving of the high fiber wheat thins ( 140 cals ?). I find this snack very satisfying.

Also, when I am in the "munching" mood, then I eat popcorn.

I like the Keebler chip deluxe 100 cal pack of cookies or a sliced apple dipped in vanilla yogurt

Instead of my beloved sugar free vanilla ice cream, I've been treating myself w/ smoothies as my evening dessert.  About 1/2 cup of low sugar orange juice, 2 cups of seedless watermelon, a handful of strawberries and a packet of truvia.  Blend up w/ some ice cubes and it is HEAVEN!  I'll probably get some pineapple, other types of berries & bananas to give myself some variety.

My go-to snack is red seedless grapes (they HAVE to be firm or YUCK!). I'm having them so much lately I need to slow down or I'll burn myself out on them.  Other snacks I like are clementine oranges, sliced jicama, snow peas & cherry tomatoes (not together, mind you!).  I know this stuff is loaded w/ sugar but I figure it's better than a pack of M&M's.  Mmmmm plain M&M's.....

grapes

fresh pineapples

apple slice w/ caramel dip

SBD peanut butter protein bar

fiber one bar

cereal bar

1 serving cashews

Quaker's mini delights Chocolatey drizzle to get the edge off my chocolate addiction! :9 Also nuts like pistachios or almonds and if I need chocolate a tbsp of chocolate chips with them. As you can tell I'm a chocoholic...

-Fruit of pretty much all kind

-Slicable veggies (like carrots and bell peppers and celery), with or without hummus

-Luna bar if I'm really hungry, kashi chocolate cherry bar if I want something lighter

-Cooked chicken breast (not really snack-y, but if you cook a few in advance then you can just grab one from the fridge for a super-filling snack!)

-Plain, unsalted almonds

-Glass of skim milk

- Spaghetti Squash

- Pureed Pumpkin or Butternut Squash

- Boiled Eggs

- Bell Peppers

- Cherry Tomatoes

- Tomato Paste

- Nori Sheets

- Spinach & Ketchup

- Cabbage & Mustard & Ketchup

- Yam, Kelp or Konbu Noodles

- Steamed Leeks

- Diced Chicken Breast (or turkey)

- Any prepared food from Whole Foods (ha ha!)

- any fruit

- 3 oreos (yes I have the ability to eat just three at one time and be done)

- an ice cream bar

- apple sauce with cinnamon

- 100 cal bag of kettle corn

I think it's hilarious the number of replies that sound soooo healthy!

Congrats people, you've successfully brainwashed yourselves.  Me, I'm still thinking about cheese or chocolate any time I'm between meals :P

Cheese is the hardest because I used to put it on so many things and never did I worry about how much.  Now that I'm aware that my Jarlsberg pre-sliced cheese is 110 calories PER SLICE...and I'd throw 2 or 3 on top of my spaghetti, sandwiches, whatever...I rarely eat that any more.  *sigh*

hot popcorn, apples to dip into melted peanut butter, hummus, pineapple and cottage cheese

i really like

  • any type of fruit for a snack, sometimes with fat free cottage cheese or fat free yogurt
  • plain microwave popped popcorn,
  • some baked hot cheetos with tuna (although i've been out of tuna for AWHILE Cry)
  • sun chips with fat free cream cheese
  • raw almond stuffed prunes,
  • roasted peanut stuffed dates,
  • prunes dipped in natural peanut butter (get natural PB, the normal stuff isn't so healthy)
  • hard-boiled egg
  • and any kind of soup. =)

hmmm..what are mine

1. string cheese

2. crackers with LC cheese

3. bagels

4. protein bars

5. popcorn

6. cottage cheese

7. ice cream!! :)

that's about it for snacks
