What is your favorite way to eat fresh salmon?
marinate for a few min in balsamic vinegar and a little brown sugar, salt and pepper. Just a few min, as the vinegar will break down the meat a bit.
I've never personally tried this, but my friends from Alaska assure me it is delicious - they say cooking salmon in the dishwasher is perfect.
Here's a link about how to do it:
I like to marinate it in teriyaki and grill it. Yummmm.
Well, my *favourite* way would be as sushi, but that's not quite what you're asking, is it? :-)
I like my salmon lightly seasoned with salt and pepper then grilled then dipped in or glazed with hoisin sauce. Hoisin is yummy!
Lightly glazed with garlic butter (or garlic olive oil, for a healthier version) is very good too.
Salmon - Oh how I love thee so!! I cannot believe that when I was little, I ran away from home because my mom made my siblings and I salmon for dinner! Oh, how I have changed!!!!!!!!!
Honestly, salmon tastes AMAZING on its own - sans BBQ sauce, soy sauce, miso, etc - I love it simply rubbed with olive oil, sprinkled with some thyme, salt & pepper and then grilled or broiled until there is still a little rareness in the center but not so much that it is tough to cut through - mmm!
Sometimes my father makes a mustard - shallot sauce to put on top of the salmon that will be broiled which is also very tasty and this sauce consists simply of olive oil, dijion mustard, shallots, garlic, dill & salt - Ta Da!
Oh and if you want to get REALLY elaborate & have an orgasum in your mouth - take the recipe for CLAM SAUCE (sans butter & cream - just used OLIVE OIL) and pour it over the top of a fillet of salmon that is in a baking dish & bake this meal in the oven until salmon is cooked... WOW - this dish is absolutely amazing - This is making me miss home! ha ha!
I like to sprinkle a little olive oil then season salt put into foil and make a packet. Put on grill after about 3 minutes turn over and wait about 3 more minutes the packet should puff up and thats when I know the salmon is done
My favorite is very simple. Sprinkle lemon pepper over and bake in 400 degrees for about 30 minutes. I use a convection oven so it could take a little longer. I like the edges crispy so I do bake it a little longer. That's it.
Salmon is delicious every way. I especially like mine seared & finished with a sauce of seared capers, butter & cream. Rawrrr! *drool*
Put it on a plate plain, paper towel over it, microwave, eat.
I love salmons taste so much and understand why people would want to play it up but its just great as is.
salmon has so much taste that i really never add anything to it.
i either bake it in the oven in a glass pan, or i just buy smoked salmon. smoked salmon is my favorite though!

I agree - smoked salmon is the best! However, I also like salting my own salmon - it is similar to smoked (same texture and saltiness) but without that woodsy flavor. It's very easy to do - get some coarse salt, very little black pepper, lots of fresh dill, some garlic, and very little olive oil (so the texture of finished product is not crumbly) and marinate for 2 days in the fridge. Then off the salmon goes on top of a whole wheat bagel with light cream cheese or cottage cheese. YUMMMO
Something to make you jealous, all of you salmon lovers
: recently my hubby and I went salmon finishing and I caught a 21-pound monster, and a decent 6-pound one. The hubby contributed his 4-pound catch. I filleted all three, and they're in the freezer :) I gave half of it away, it was just too much. My favourite way to cook it is with just salt, pepper and lemon juice, but there's this great sauce that tastes amazing with it: simply sour cream with horseradish, and some dill. As a matter of fact, I think I'm gonna have just that tonight! :)
i just tried this recipe the other day and flipped for it...so simple and so good, yet pretty elegant:)
Mix some low fat sour cream with some grainy mustard, little bit of lemon juice. Mix well, spread over top of salmon. Bake as usual, like 10-12 min, then at the end turn broiler on medium and pop it up top for a minute or two til the mustard crust browns a little..watch it though it can burn easy. So yums..my boyfriend hates mustard and I didnt tell him what was in it and he loved it!
1 tbsp. of ground pistachios, sprinkle of splenda brown sugar and pepper...yum (these measurments are for one filet). I normally do this on the bbq, but I think it would be just as good in the oven. I serve with wilted spinach and some rice, full meal not so many calories.
