Hello!

I find I do so much better at the gym when I have some really great music with me.  Problem is, I'm running out of songs and getting a little tired of hearing the ones I have now over and over again.

I was thinking maybe everyone could name a song that really gets them moving to give me ideas?

I find that most hip hop songs have a good beat and are easy to run to

Ex: run it by chris brown
If "Jive Talkin'" by the Bee Gees doesn't get you moving I don't know what will :o)

A few others that get me moving...

"My First, My Last, My Everything" by Barry White
"Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley
"Sexomatic Venus Freak" by Macy Gray

Trance songs. They have a great beat and keep you motivated. Also help you keep pace. Right now i am stuck on the Sunrise festival audio recorded in Poland. Also have some Dj Tiesto and DJ Johan Gielen on my ipod.
Best work out song ever, Top Gun's Danger Zone, I also sing that song in my head when I am on my motorcycle working though downtown traffic.

For long distance runs for people I would suggest looking up running cadences, I listen to them when I run outside lots of two, they set a nice pace and lots of them are very motivational songs.
I'll have to remember that one ^^. I mostly listen to Hip Hop/Rap, It's what pumps me up the most. The theme song to Rocky is good too.

  • "In Da Club" 50 Cent
  • "Victory" Biggie Smalls, Puff Daddy, and Busta Rhymes
  • "Dre Day" Dr. Dre
  • Songs from Eminem's 8 mile Soundtrack

  • "Bring Back Double" E40 ft. Doey Rock
  • "None Tonight" Lil Zane
  • "Sky is the Limit" Notorious B.I.G. ft. 112
  • "Ambitionz as a Ridah" 2pac
  • "Moment of Clarity" Jay-Z

  • "Get your Walk on" Xzibit
Wind it Up by Gwen Stefani

agreen- I have almost all of those songs on my workout cd!
My number one workout song especially for doing HIIT is Rush's "Temples of Syrinx"  it starts out with a good warm up pace then it builds to an explosion and then its rocks!!!  If it doesn't get you moving fast and playing air drums you need to see a dr LOL  Its almost 7 minutes of pure cardio!!!

Other favorites - Ant Rap, Ant Music, Desperate but not Serious,  Friend of Foe - all by Adam Ant

Alice Coopers' Poison - Million dollar Babies,

Harry Nielson - Jump into the Fire (he did the "coconut song "put the lime in the cocomutt.....)

Blue Oyster Cult - Godzilla

Falco - Herr Kommisar - I have 3 versions an eglish, original German and also a remix that is awesome - its more "rappy" and I hate most rap - but this version is awesome  I downlouded it years ago back when Napster was just starting out

My "cool down " stretching songs include most anything from Peter Gabriel - especially Bilko war without Frontiers and Don't give up

Robin Trower - Too Rolling Stoned and Bridge of Sighs

Genesis "Carpet Crawlers" from Lamb lies down album back to when Peter Gabriel and Mike Rutherford were still with them

Kate Bush - Sat in your Lap - Babooshka

Irene Cara - Flashdance theme song
I  have a whole new list of stuff to download now!  Thanks everyone - hopefully this will motivate me to move more!
I don't know what kind of music you're into... but I love The Blood Brothers for running... almost every song is very up tempo and I just force myself to run with the pace of the song.
In my Ipod is

Lots of Dave Matthews Band

Dead or Alive- You spin me right round

Eminem- Shake that

Fergie- Fergalicious

Prince- lots of songs

Shakespear's Sister- Goodbye Cruel world

The Cure- EVERY song they made..Yes I said EVERY SONG..{I love love love the cure!!}

The fast songs to a Ray Charles CD got me going one day!

My Mom works out to the oldies, you know the songs of the 50's and 60's? That would be a nice change - The Beach Boys, The Beatles etc..I made her a MP3 CD of 200 songs, and then we together made a workout CD of her favourites.

If you like Techno Dance, that will get you moving for sure! And it's really different! But cool! I made myself a MP3 CD.

What's cool too is "Takin' Care of Business", "You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet" and other songs by BTO.

80's - 90's - Abba, Ace of Base, Erasure, Janet Jackson, Pet Shop Boys, Bruce Springsteen, Bryan Adams...

Shakira, Sean Paul, Rihanna, Gwen Stefani, Shania Twain's faster hits,

Also Reggae is good too...

Soundtracks of some movies like: Top Gun, Footloose, Cocktail...

I have to say that I am addicted to ITunes and I have gotten a lot of good music to work out to. I made the investment of an IPod Nano and loaded all the songs that are fast-paced and that is what I walk/run on the treadmill to.

The Saint theme song, Mission Impossible theme song, Chemical Brother's "Busy Child", some Beck, 80's dance like Depeche Mode "Just Can't Get Enough", Haddaway's "What is Love" (also from SNL)...shall I go on?

If you tell me how to share my ITunes, I will gladly!
I, too, line Pink's new song - "U & Ur Hand."

I also like Avril Levigne's new song.  I think it's called "I can be your girlfriend"

These are good if you are a bit younger.  Really gets me pumped up.  I play these when I'm running and feel like quitting.
Ok some quick links, all free:

Best of Bootie. Best Mashups of 2006 and this just rocks out loud!

Erik's (yes THAT Erik) own "Summer Love Funky House Mix 06", very good!

The Kleptones! The download page has the five project 'CDs' and the Blog page has some interesting mixes also, I am really enjoying Hectic City 6 - Leaving Here
