What is your favourite part about weight loss?

I know that losing weight can be extremely frustrating at times. So, remind yourself why you love losing weight!

I like:

  • Tightening my belt notch when it gets too loose
  • Being able to run longer distances without getting winded
  • Being able to shop in "regular" stores
  • Knowing that I'm treating my body right

NUMBER 1, first and foremost, the compliments!

2nd, my bf can't keep his hands off me. (soon 2 be fiance-engagement ring is in motion)

3rd, my mom is very proud that I'm sticking to the workout plan in which she's always incorporated into and taught my siblings and I too stick by anyways, by working out weekly herself

4th, no more fat rolls, smoother skin, no bulge in stomach area, leaner thighs, better nights rests

and 5th, skookum mentioned this above, but I also have not got sick yet this year )))knock on wood(((, When I was bigger and unhealthier, not eating as many veggies and natural goodness, I would get sick like every 3 months, no lie!

Ironically enough - seeing my wrinkles!  Fat fills wrinkles...so when I see my forehead and eyes and laugh lines crinkle, it makes me feel awesome!

Oh, and the look people give me when they notice something is different but don't know what it is :)

1. Hitting new "decades" on the scale

2. Guys hititng on me, I've been so overweight in the last 14months now that I'm 35lbs lighter I sometimes don't realize guys are flirting with me...

3. Learning disclipline. Setting goals and making them!

mine sounds a bit daft but since losing 40 pounds i have not been out to see my friends as i have been busy so seeing them as a size 6 and hearing all the guys saying oh my god and smiling at me all night. And all the girls looking concerned trying to make me drink more and get a pizza after and then feeling smug when i turn them down (i know its jealousy a little bit lol )

seeing the numbers go lower on the scale is very motivating and I love it.

Being able to fit in smaller sized jeans (bought my first size 3/4 this weekend and they're baggy on me!)

knowing how to lose weight and knowing how to control my body and how much to put in and how much to exercise and feeling more in tune with myself than ever before...feels great.

More energy

More confidence

gaining knowledge of nutrition and my body

loss of many fears

It was a huge relief the first time i did NOT have to ask for the seatbelt extender on a plane. Woo hoo!Laughing

1.  Compliments

2. Feeling of Accomplishment

3. Buying Non-Plus Sized Clothing

4. Being a better teacher to my primary kids

5. Walking uphill faster than a skinny eight year old

6. Having my Daddy be proud of me

7. When a third grader hugs me now, their arms can wrap all the way around my waist! :)

8. Losing a chin

9. Feeling 18 again

10. Knowing it is "never too late to try" (Love, Love, Love Biggest Loser song)

  • smaller belts
  • crossing my legs comfortably
  • jeans not wearing out from "thigh rub"
  • not being the "token fat chick" in my group of friends
  • knowing a ton more about nutrition and healthy eating (and how to make up for a once-in-a-while treat without feeling guilty)
  • being happier now and in the future than I have been for a long time :)

Keep up the great work, everyone!

Being able to push a plate of food away when I have only eaten half of what is on it and feeling full.

I love losing weight:

when I can go to the store and buy a size smaller in clothing

because I get compliments

because I know it will make me healthier

so I can go to an amusement park and not be afraid I won't fit into the seats

because I look better

Those are just a few reasons I like to lose weight.  :-)

Definitely a feeling of accomplishment;

Actually sticking with a discipline and seeing the fruits of my labour. Learning when I fall, to get right back up and keep trying at something and never give up;

Feeling like a beautiful mom as I walk with my pretty 4 year old daughter;

I like what that one person said about honoring our generational families; our moms and our grandmas, by keeping our health up to pass on good health to our future generations;

Not having my stomach loose and hanging over my pants is probably my favorite thing of all.

I lost 88 pounds in 14 months and I'm thrilled to know it CAN be done and happy to debunk some of the myths out there. What do I like best? Wearing clothes I haven't been able to wear for 16 years.

Wearing clothes that I couldn't before, and not just size-wise (although it is awesome to buy size 3 and size 5 jeans!), but STYLE-wise. I was overweight all through my teens, so for all my dances I would always go with the safe A-line dress (since I carried all my weight in my butt, hips, and thighs...A-line would hide those and hold in my waist). I have a semi-formal for my college club in December and I bought a slinky short dress! I was a little self-conscious about how it fit, but everyone says it looks good, including my mom (which is the big test--and in fact she gushed to her friends about what a pretty dress I'd gotten).

I'm not used to showing OFF my curves, because they used to be ROLLS. My butt is still big in comparison to the rest of me, however, it's considered a GOOD thing now--'curves' rather than 'fat'. Still trying to get used to that one. ;-)

I like:

Being able to fit in clothes that I haven't worn since college

Feeling good about myself again

The compliments I get from others

Realizing that my stomach is getting less pudgy

And shopping for new clothes, eventhough I'm going to wait to do serious shopping until I reach my weightloss goal

Knowing I'm becoming more healthy

Being able to enjoy any food and be in control

Having people look at me and not be repulsed

Being able to fit old clothes to the point where I have to by new ones.

Having to say to the store workers "Do you have this in a smaller size?"!!  That is my favourite.

This is a great motivational thread!! For me it is smaller clothes and more choice of what I can wear, compliments, feeling much more confident, to be able to run around with the children, loving exercise, enjoying my food, to appreiciate treat foods for what they are.....TREATS not staple diet! I can feel my bones and muscles I didn't know I had, and my tummy is almost flat without 4 spare tyres! My favorate thing is knowing if I have to see the doctor or nurse, they are not going to tell me my problem is weight related or even if it's NOT weight related, them telling me I need to lose weight. To be able to look in a mirror and like what I see. To be able to feel worthy of spoiling myself with a good haircut or clothes. I am going to buy my first bikini for next summer! To feel alive and energetic. To feel confident in letting my husband see me in the noddy and not to cringe when he hugs me. So lots of things there, just off the top of my head!

To be with girls that have been skinny their whole lives and think we look the same, but knowing that I worked my butt off!

Oh. I definitely agree with this one. I have a group of friends who I've been friends with for over 10 years now. We were friends all through junior high and high school, went through puberty together, etc. And I ALWAYS thought of myself as the "big" one. Not necessarily fat, but I was certainly bigger. Now when I see them, I realize that we're all about the same size, and last weekend I had to borrow jeans from one of them because mine were all TOO BIG!

Other things I love:

- Increased attention from men. Trust me, I was NEVER the one that they were interested in before.

- Being able to wear my skimpy (perhaps ever scandalous?) Halloween costume and know that it looked good.

- Not having to assume that I can't wear certain styles of clothing, because odds are that NOW I CAN!
