Fear Foods... which one did you conquer today?

Quote  |  Reply

I thought this might give some good motivation and support for all of us in recovery from eating disorder who are still struggling with our "fear foods", whatever they may be. When you tackle one, post about it here, or just post about another ED challenge that you have mastered.

Tuesday: Turned off my alarm clock and slept in and had a completely DIFFERENT and new breakfast when I woke up.

Wednesday: Made a "pan-fried" food for the first time and had mashed potatoes on the side at dinner.

Thursday: Ate my first whole egg with the yolk since having an ED (probobly a few years at least)

Friday: Had a double-dose of chocolate at breakfast and made a new recipe (involving salmon - FF) for lunch.

This was quite the week!

Great idea-

I finally had pasta, with CHEESE inside. Butternut squash mixed with actual cheese with fat in it.

Rice inside a wrap...two carbs at one meal oh my!

:D

And I didnt' freak out at all, I actually felt much better. I am so happy.

I bought low-fat cottage cheese last night instead of fat-free(I know, I know..I'm working up to full fat)

Also: Yesterday I bought some baked goods at a bake sale. No idea of the calories or anything! And ate them both.

grt idea

zelbulancherry funny that ice stoppes setting my alarm im letting myself wake naturally

ive started eating meat  and started to experiment with potatoe i had mash my goal is chips (fries)

at subway i dont just pick items from the 'less than 6grams of fat' range...i'v been having the chicken fillet quite a bit lately:) yum!

i'm also beginning to add a bit of sauce to my cooking (ie soy sauce to my noodles etc) because i can't deny it really does make it taste alot better!

Saturday; this morning, just now - Had a sandwich with two pieces of bread (so sick of open-faced, aren't you?) then filled with a mini omelette (one whole egg plus two extra whites), and a big, thick slice of....

BACON!

...along with some other stuff too of course!

Goodness gracious child, what has come over you today? :)

I don't know if any of you read the blog Carrots N' Cake, but she has this thing called "Cookie Friday", and since I missed it yesterday, maybe I'll make today my cookie Saturday. :D

Great thread,

Yesterday: I had B&J's caramel chew chew - I hadn't had it in years!

&nb sp;           I had my snack (2 biscuits) even though I was having dinner in half an hour because I'd missed it earlier.

&nb sp;          I had three cups of tea. I usually only let myself have two because of the extra milk but I was cold and it warmed me up :)

I woke up yesterday & went to Starbucks. They didn't have the drink I initially wanted so I just ordered one that sounded good (without knowing the calorie count or anything) and it was grande sized (NOT tall), full fat, with whipped cream. Awesome.

Had a soccer game yesterday and it was freezing, so on the way home I got a hot chocolate. I didn't think about the calories or weigh myself beforehand to see if I "could" or "couldn't" drink it. I was cold so I had hot chocolate, and it was good. End of story.

Two in one day (:
I actually conquered a lot of things yesterday.

Thurs I was eating out with the fam and having sushi and I decided to slather my sushi with soy sauce. I'd been majorrrrrly afraid of soy sauce and guess what - NOTHING BAD HAPPENED. (Kay I know that seems kinda lame but I ws really proud of myself cause I was/am really scared of sodium!!!!)

As if that's not enough Fri I decided I was feeling a little hungry between meals so I walked over to the variety store with a friend and bought a whole, unhealthy chocolate bar, just cause I wanted it!

: )

i woke up was starving it was to early for breakfast 6am so i had a bowl of cereal a drink of milk then went back to bed

everyone is doin brillantly

Wow you guys, you're all awesome! And nothing is lame or stupid. We all understand our struggles here. What's "scary" for one person might be nothing to another; the important thing is, we're challenging ourselves and overcoming our own personal obstacles.

So today we had a family trip, so we had lunch at an awesome italian restaurant... soooo...focaccia for Me!:) Yeah, I hugged my carbs today!:) Congrats everybody, we are just doing great!:)

My dad bought me a sub from subway when he picked me up from work the other day...not my usual veggie on whole wheat with no cheese and low fat sweet onion sauce (which legitimitely is good, and not just because of the calorie count, btw), but a ham sub on italian herb and cheese bread with italian dressing.  And I ate it.  In the car, not on a plate at a table with nice lighting etc like every dieting article has told me to do to prevent overeating.  And as far as I know, the world hasn't exploded yet :)

1/4 OF A DEEP DISH PIZZA. whew, i had many of them in many nights in a row in summer but now that im closer to my goal its getting tough. so it was a bit of a challenge.. but i ate it !!:)

i couldn't eat the cake i made though..

two LARGE cups of hot cocoa! :D It was awesomely yummy

Hamburger AND a big piece of carrot cake

Monday - Was Thanks Giving here in Canada! I had turkey breast, stuffing, mashed potatoes, corn, dinner rolls and Italian bread with earth balance and ate it ALL. Actually, I had SECONDS of the turkey and stuffing! And there was gravy on my turkey and mashed potatoes! And as if that wasn't enough, afterwards I had a piece of homemade chocolate birthday cake my sister and I made for my Uncle that was double deckered with chocolate frosting in between and rainbow frosting on top! So proud of myself!

That morning I cooked my oats WITH milk for the FIRST time! (I had oatmeal cooked with milk twice this week).

Thursday - (not much of a big deal but..) I added an extra scoop of whey protein powder to my protein shake.

Today (Saturday) - Bananas are not normally a fear food for me (they are one of my favourites), but I never have had more than one per day in ages, and today, I had TWO!

2 PM snacks; At PM snack today I was still feeling hungry, so I had a SECOND PM snack and it was MORE nuts and raisins.

Lastly, I had a grand total of nuts/raisins 4 times through-out the day.

I have also been having WAY bigger breakfasts' these past 2 days and not feeling guilty one bit! I don't know, but I think that is just about everything this week (SO FAR!). However, what I do know is that I am so proud of myself and everything I managed to accomplish! Smile

PS - Great thread idea!

Bagels!

I was feeling hungry after my breakfast but I was on my way to work so I stopped at an Einstein Bros. and bought a bagel and ate all of it =o I haven't had one in months and I looove them. The only thing that could've made it better was if I'd had some peanut butter to spread on it... mmm.

Petite_nanner, those are all amazing! I wish it was Thanksgiving here... not for a month or so now. I would love any leftover stuffing you have. Hahah. I'm definitley having some this year too since it used to be my favorite. I could probobly just have that and some turkey and I'd be happy.

Tomorrow when I go to Whole Foods I want to get a cookie. :)
