Fear Foods... which one did you conquer today?

Quote  |  Reply

I thought this might give some good motivation and support for all of us in recovery from eating disorder who are still struggling with our "fear foods", whatever they may be. When you tackle one, post about it here, or just post about another ED challenge that you have mastered.

Tuesday: Turned off my alarm clock and slept in and had a completely DIFFERENT and new breakfast when I woke up.

Wednesday: Made a "pan-fried" food for the first time and had mashed potatoes on the side at dinner.

Thursday: Ate my first whole egg with the yolk since having an ED (probobly a few years at least)

Friday: Had a double-dose of chocolate at breakfast and made a new recipe (involving salmon - FF) for lunch.

This was quite the week!

Bagels!

I was feeling hungry after my breakfast but I was on my way to work so I stopped at an Einstein Bros. and bought a bagel and ate all of it =o I haven't had one in months and I looove them. The only thing that could've made it better was if I'd had some peanut butter to spread on it... mmm.

Ooohh... what flavor? Einstein's is awesome, for their bagels and muffins too. Have you tried the pumpkin one yet? My mom takes my little brother there after she drops me off at school and she has gotten that one a few times and liked it a lot.

....big day....

today i challenged myself and had an omelete using a whole egg for lunch on ezekiel bread and lots of veggies etc...but it was a challenge because i have been kinda semi vegan for a while and havent had an egg since this last spring, so cudos for me :) eggs are super healthy and i am glad i had one today.

also i had a few square of organic dark chocolate after dinner.

and yesterday had a skim cappachino at starbucks, a challenge because getting anything besides black coffee or tea at *bucks is hard...and i usually dont drink cows milk or soy...usually i drink hemp, almond or rice milk...so i felt like i conquered fear yesterday...oh and i had a probar with the cappachino...which is a major challenge(370 cals and like 16 grams of fat in a 3 oz bar) but super loaded with lots of nuts, fruits, flax oats fiber protein and so pure and healthy but still a challenge...i am not at all afraid of fats, but sometimes it is hard, and my ED tells me i can not exceed 65 grams for a 2000 cal diet...

xx

I have issues with calorific drinks, especially at Stabucks because they don't fill you up but today I got an Apple Cider!!

Yay me!

And I found my new love... Ricotta cheese!!

Saturday - Had Indian food with rich curry sauce and RICE. Nom nom nom.

Sunday - Had my snacks even though I didn't really exercise as much as normally. Not really a certain food, I know, but still. Oh, and I made banana "soft serve" like I've been seeing all the bloggies do. I added peanut butter. :)

Monday (tomorrow) - Made waffles with whole egg and oil. I even added extra oil to the waffle iron to prevent stickage. Mmmm. I have not had waffles in years. I will be enjoying them... covered with almond butter.

I'm having waffles tomorrow, too! Except, your waffles sound like they will be much, much more better as mine are from a box - Van's waffles. They are blueberry and I will be topping them with peanut butter and raspberry jam. Yummy!

Like you, I do not eat waffles a whole lot. To be honest, I never cared for them until I started buying the frozen varieties from Nature's Path and Van's as opposed to the old Eggo I despised (yuck!).

PS - Thanks for the positive feedback on my previous post here and enjoy your waffles tomorrow morning, you are doing a great job!

Tonight i had two servings of Full Fat soy icecream even though i was full and I do not feel a bit guilty :]

I had a cappuccino today!! First time I've allowed myself to drink calories (other than alcohol) in a verrry long time..and it was delicious :)

good job for all the people challenging their fears. great idea for a post zeb, hope you enjoy your waffles... like all your food i betcha its gonna be as amazing as it sounds :D... your parents should be real proud that they raised a chef in the making.

today i ate what we cooked in home economics. Ricotta and sundried tomato stuffed chicken breast with roast potatoes and pesto. yeah i chose the recipie but at least i cooked in class and ate with my friends.

that is brillant im so proud of you keep it up xx

Waffles. own. Nuff' said.

After I went to the YMCA with my mom this morning, she went to pick up a blueberry muffin for my little brother at the bagel store. She also got herself a whole wheat omelete bagel sandwich. Note, this was at 11:00 so I had already had breakfast and a (big) post-workout snack and I was not hungry, but I wished I had been because I was really wanting one of those sandwiches too! Next time I'll have to remember!

Well, my mum made a rich fruit loaf for my son's 15th birthday yesterday.

I naturally refused a piece yesterday which didn't surprise anyone.  But last night, after we'd got home from my mum's, I got on the phone to her and promised her that I would have a piece today.

And guess what?  I did just that this morning!  Only a thin slice and I didn't dare put any butter on it (that will have to come later....) but I had the cake and boy it was SO delicious!  My mum has aways baked a mean cake!

Can't wait to tell her when I phone her later this evening!

Fabulous, homemade desserts are always the BEST and scary because the calorie content is so unknown! Great work :)

At dinner tonight I had TORTELLINI with TOMATO SAUCE, salad with 2 T dressing and Ezekiel bread with earth balance BUTTERY spread. Yes, I had not one, but TWO carbs at dinner; one which included butter, and the other, tomato sauce.

Bedtime snack was 1/2 cup oatmeal cooked with 1 cup almond milk, and topped with Bear Naked Peak Protein granola and almond butter drizzle. It came out to be a total of 430 calories and I enjoyed every bit of it even though a voice deep down was telling me that the volume of this snack was too big before bed!

For the past three nights, I have been eating homemade lasagna for dinner..gotta love leftovers lol.  First night, I could've cried, but by today, I was looking forward to my supper :)

AND today while I was killing time before my bio lab, I got my friend to buy me a muffin from Tim Hortons (that way I couldn't subconsciously choose the lowest calorie option), and I ate the whole thing.

Tonight I had a big serving of rice with coconut, salt, nuts, and dried fruit. Three in one! Woot! It was delicious. I had it alongside a huge grilled tuna fillet too plus sides. And I'm having an extra big snack tonight since I'm not having stomach troubles (knock on wood).

Well, never thought I'd live to see the day but last night I had a jacket potato with tuna and ...... mayonnaise!!

Now normally I serve my tuna before I add the mayonnaise, but yesterday I thought "No, I'm NOT going to treat myself any differently than the rest of my family".  So I had the mayo, and it was really rather tasty, perhaps a little too creamy for my palate, but I got it down.

Not a huge portion, and only half a potato - but hey, it's mayo and something I can't ever remember eating in the past!

I actually sat down this morning and ate breakfast. Granted it was only special K and low fat milk with a small cup of grape juice; I'm glad I took the initiative and no one had to tell me to do it.
