Fear Foods... which one did you conquer today?
I thought this might give some good motivation and support for all of us in recovery from eating disorder who are still struggling with our "fear foods", whatever they may be. When you tackle one, post about it here, or just post about another ED challenge that you have mastered.
Tuesday: Turned off my alarm clock and slept in and had a completely DIFFERENT and new breakfast when I woke up.
Wednesday: Made a "pan-fried" food for the first time and had mashed potatoes on the side at dinner.
Thursday: Ate my first whole egg with the yolk since having an ED (probobly a few years at least)
Friday: Had a double-dose of chocolate at breakfast and made a new recipe (involving salmon - FF) for lunch.
This was quite the week!
I broke out of my daily routine today. First, I had plain old boring peanut butter Ezekiel toast for breakfast. I never have toast for breakfast and it has been so long since I have. Second, at lunch time today, I tried a new Amy's soup: Organic Cream of Tomato Soup. Guess what? I ate it with an absurd amount of Kashi TLC crackers and I really liked it! I usually go with her other ones like No Chicken Noodle Soup and Organic Alphabet Soup, but not this time. Lastly, I had breakfast... for dinner! It was my own homemade "egg mcmuffin" with an egg fried in EVOO with spinach and tomato on an Ezekiel english muffin. Along with that I had the other half of the can of Amy's soup from lunch. I enjoyed this dinner because it was fun and I never have done that really for dinner, especially now with the whole weight gain process I am going through now.
Now, whether these are not necessarily "fear" foods for me, I am proud that I decided to challange myself out of my normal, routined eats and eat them today because they are not typically foods I would have normally eaten at this time. Yay for change.

oh waycat! please don't call yourself such awful names!
I think that having a granola bar, acknowledging that YOU wanted a second but that the ED voice told you not to, not restricting, but being aware that you were more conscious of your food for the day - all of that is such a good step! you ate a fear food - that's progress. you were conscious of listening to your ED voice and wanting to resist it, even though you didn't, entirely. you did not do anything hurtful to your body (like restrict), even though you were conscious of what you ate. you weren't bad or weak, you are making slow & steady progress.
i bet you that the next time you have a granola bar, if you want a second one, you're going to eat it. take that, ED! and of course you'll post and tell us about it, right?
appletwo, so good of you to reply with such encouraging words. Just the sort of thing I need now and then to give me a good kicking up the you-know-what!!!
You took my post and turned it round from the negative to the positve which has helped no end - thank you again!
And you're right - next time I have a granola bar I shall have another if I want to and yah boo sucks to ED!!!
last night i had a little chocolate almond pistachio marzipan candy it was little and a little treat, but it was such a challenge becasue i brought myse;f to but it at the french chcolate shop, and i was so guilty that i bought it, becasue ed told me i wasted money and it was soo scaery, and unknown calories on the wrap!

BUTTER!
It took me nearly two years but I put butter on my toast for the first time yesterday and it was heavenly!
had some tiramisu at olive garden the other day. it was alright. :)
oh, and had steak for the first time in...god knows how long. it's odd how I ate it like it was no big deal while I was gaining weight, but now that I have a BMI of 20 it scares the crap out of me. :(
I ate fried egg whites with cheese on it, I haven't had eggs or cheese in over a year. I'm working up to actually eating the yolk...
Also, hello everyone
First post, WOO!
Home made swiss roll!!!
Well, made by my mum actually, but you know what I mean.
We'd all had dinner, my husband and two boys had cleared off, and I actually found myself fancying a bit of pudding for once in my life. Now the fact that I was alone made it a bit easier - I couldn't have eaten pudding if my family had still been in the room with me.
I looked at my soya yoghurts and thought "Hhmm, 100 calories or thereabouts - not alot really". And next to them was once slice of swiss roll that was left from a whole roll that everyone else had helped themselves to during the preceeding few days.
I ate half of it in three mouthfuls and put the other half back in the fridge.
Then I took the rubbish out to the bin and locked up.
And guess what? Something inside me said "It's stupid to leave that small piece of swiss roll in the fridge, just eat it!". And I can't believe this, but I did!! I was so proud, but at the same time so scared.
I phoned my mum and to hear the delight in her voice made it all worth it!
i bought my best friend a birthday cake and deocrated it with all of her favorite candies etc. typical ed behavior, being preoccupied wtih food and not eating it..
but i ate it.
with frozen yogurt also.
and since she and i are apartmentmates the cake is still in our fridge. the other night i had a little piece, even though there was no "reason" for it, it wasn't a birthday anymore, nto everyone was having it. i had cake for no reason.
and let me tel you it was a damn good cake, and not to mention it felt great to sing happy birthday to a best friend and actually eat her bday cake too :)
in the past week i have had an oatmeal raisin cookie. Marzipan chocolate (<3)
and ciao bella gelato maple ginger snap flavor! as challenges.
keep up all the awesome challenges girlies, you all are amazing :)
xx
eliza thats so great! CIAO BELLA = MY LIFE. i swear to god i think that stuff keeps me alive.
i made brownies with my little sister today[: they were organic so i was like yay! okay i can totally eat these no problem! we put them in to bake, i come back down and there is duncan hines icing ALL over them! i really thought i had conquered all my fear foods until that moment! i was about to run for the hills but then i sat down, picked a big momma brownie and gobbled it up!
xxxooxx!
Over the weekend I had butter and stuffing since we had an early "Thanksgiving" on Saturday with my dad's side of the family.

a latte at starbucks rather than just plain coffee :)
i know its small, but i honestly feared "drinking a lot of calories," and would normally figure why get a latte when i can get caffeinated for less calories. but hey, i got in a good kick of espresso AND a dairy/protein serving AND extra calories which i need anyway :) it was more expensive but SO worth it.
up next: a syrup flavored (NOT SUGAR FREE) seasonal latte, like gingerbread or pumpkin spice....
Today was someone's birthday and also lots of day before thanksgiving partying going around at school. I had brownies and some cake. And now I'm so hyper hahah sugar rush. Umm...yea it was really scary, especially after eating way over "the safe amount" yesterday. I haven't weighed myself in two weeks, I'm going to look today, but whatever happens, I don't care. I'm happy!
How many times a week can I eat tilapia?
There is no limit on tilapia. Certain oily fishes and regional fishes may limited due to their risk of contamination with mercury and other substances... Read more
