February Calorie Deficit Challenge - Newcomers always welcome!

Quote  |  Reply

**UPDATE**

March challenge can be found here: http://caloriecount.about.com/march-calorie-d eficit-challenge-newcomers-always-ft130192

Anyone who wants to share their total monthly weight loss, please do!  Then we can all see how the math adds up (or doesn't!).

-----

We all know that in order to lose weight you need to have a calorie deficit.  This challenge is about that deficit!

You can sign up anytime by posting in this thread and indicating which group you want to be in.

We'll start counting on 2/1/09.

-----

How it works
Each day you keep track of your calorie intake and calorie output, then compute your calorie deficit.  You post in here (daily, weekly, whenever) your running deficit for the month in the form of: deficit to-date / goal deficit.  Be sure to post a new post every time you post - do not edit previous posts or I will not see it!  Also, be sure you keep track of your on-going total - I won't be doing the math for you!

For example
Let's say I want to lose five pounds this month.  So, I sign up for the 17,500 Challenger group.  On day 1 my calorie output is 2000 and my intake is 1500.  That makes my day 1 deficit 500, so I post: 500/17,500.  On day 2, my calorie output is 1800 and my intake is 1500, making my deficit 300.  So, I add my day 2 deficit onto my day 1 deficit, and post:  800/17,500.  On day 3, I didn't do so well and took in 2000 calories and burned 1800 calories.  So, on day 3 I subtract the calories I took in over maintainence and I post my total montly deficit as 600/17,500.   For more examples check out the January Calorie Deficit Challege found here: http://caloriecount.about.com/january-calorie -deficit-challenge-newcomers-always-ft124268

Awesome!! Thanks so much for setting this up again alle!! I was soooo hoping you would!!

you know, i did really well on the 14,000 in jan, so I'm going to go for the 17,500 this month!! goin for the 5 pounds baby!

Thank you Alle, I was really hoping you would do this for February too - my wedding month!  Please sign me up for the 24,500 group, though I won't be able to post after I leave the courty toward the end of the month.

please sign me up for 17500 - 5 pounds.  thanks!

Well this might a bit over ambitious, but I want to get to my goal by the end of March, so I am going to try the 24.500.Foot in mouth  I didn't take part in the Jan challenge and I regret it!  Thanks Ali.

Welcome everyone!  No need to thank me, the motivation I get by posting all of your inspiring numbers is thanks enough Laughing

I'm a new member as of last week.  I'd like to try the 28,000.  I'm going to take advantage of my renewed motivation for the next month.  Thanks!

Hi everyone!   I would like to sign up for the 21,000 challenge please.  Thanks!

OK. today was my official weigh-in for the start at weight.

I was 123.6lbs..

In a month, I will be 4 pounds down AND out of the 120s (finally!!!!)

I love to be challenged!

I'd like to join lovely 5lb group.

Please count me in!

Thank you!!

I'm in for the 21,000 group! It worked'm so well last month I'm back for more!

Hey there! I am in for the 10,500 group... =) hope to be able to do this!

o.k. I just found this thread and I hope I can join in! I just figured yesterday that I wanted to keep a 500 cal deficit up until 2/24 in order to lose 4 lbs so if I can still join I'll be shooting for 14,000! I know it starts tomorrow but hopefully I can still jump in now! Thanks!

Welcome everyone!

Ahhhh! Count me in... AGAIN!

I only stuck to the challenge for half a month in january. I tried hard, but exams killed me. Anyway, I'M DONE EXAMS! And there won't be anything stopping me this month. I'm starting at 137.5 pounds, and aiming to lose 4 pounds with that 14,000 calorie deficet! GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!!! :D:D:D

Okay this is my first challenge, but I'm feeling really low and uninspired after a totally lackluster first month of getting back on the wagon.  SO sign me up for the 6 lb club and lets see if I can get that scale moving!

1/2/09:

deficit - 1174

total - 1174/28,000

2/1/2009:

deficit - 1269

total - 1269/28,000

02/01/2009

First day.

Wow.

576/17,500

Please sign me up for the 10, 500 category....it's going to be a busy month for me. I got another job...that is 3 part-time jobs for me, plus 2 evening college classes. I hope I can find the time to work out as much as I have been...we'll see???!
