Why do I feel so darn Hungry
My stomach has felt empty all day. Its been growling and I have been feeling lethargic. I have been trying to eat every two hours to kill this empty feeling and possibly give me an energy boost. I am about to go eat something now....I was suspecting all of the coffee I had today at first, but I haven't had a cup since Noon.
Is it possible with Working out all week, I actually need more calories..even on my off days.
BTW, I am 5' 2" 175lbs, I work out 6 days a week using the CC 12 week work out.
Here's what I have eaten/Drank today
4 cups of coffee,
4 tbs flavored creamer,
1 Breyers Yogurt,
Hamburger pattie,
2 slices of whole wheat bread,
1 Slice of Processed Cheese Product,
5 g of Mayo,
3 Jalopeno Slices,
4 Marshmellows,
2 apples,
5 Pecans,
2 cups of Homemade Enchiladas.
maybe you need to eat. one cheeseburger and a yogurt isnt enough for the day.
Yeah. Right after posting and reviewing I realized I have been WAY to freaking busy today. The family stayed home today and I have been doing housework since this morning.
In my mind it looked as though I had been eating all day....but truly I have neglected some things that I usually eat through out the day.
Anyways I went made myself some popcorn...I'll probably have some rasins and milk before bed to top things off.
Denise
cool.
This is the wonderful thing about getting support online..sometimes the solutions are as easy as typing a post.
Denise
Hey, yeah, I agree, that isn't nearly enough food .. Eat up! Have you plugged this in to see how many cals it is? I don't even think popcorn is enough to give you a good enough nutrition for the day.
You definitely need more calories if you work out. Even if you take a break for a day, your metabolism is still pumped and running.
I went back and recalculated the calories I need to lose weight as it made no sense that I should be as hungry as I have been today, since the rest of the week I met my calorie intake goal. However, according to the numbers on CC i should be eating 1675 calories. NO WONDER I am hungry...I have basically been starving myself for the past week. :(
I ran the "Numbers" last Sunday...but didn't include the fact I would actually be working out. At the moment I was being honest with myself about how much I actually work out...which is NEVER but I did start and didn't make any changes.
Hopefully I"ll get this all figured out, so I don't have another day like today.
Thanks everyone for the support.
Try making a meal plan in advance. Be sure you include all the food groups, especially vegetables. Low calorie vegetables can really fill you up without adding a lot of calories.
Once you are adequately nourished, the hunger should go away. At least it did for me.
Tip - make a pot of low sodium vegetable soup and have several mugs full every day for snacks. This can be a bland soup or one like my favorite invention. It fills you up, helps you get your 5 servings of veggies, and it's really full of vitamins.
Read the Advice section and look for references to Balanced Diet, Food Pyramid, and Nutrition. You could eat a whole lot more if you just concentrate on those low calorie, vitamin packed foods.
Thanks for the advice.
I do meal planning a week in advance, since we live on an extremely tight budget. I stay home, the problem comes when I neglect myself and make poor calculations.
All is well today. Breakfast is 3ozs of Cantelope, my Coffee, and 1 serving of Oatmeal.
Soup is a good idea. I can make a great soup in about 30 minutes and have enough for a week.

Go into your food analysis in the My account section.
In the date range box select last seven days. Just click on today and it will come up.
Check out your values for the week.
Hover your mouse over the underscored date and take a look at your values for vitamin A and C, calcium and iron intakes for the week.
I find that if I am not close to 100% or over on these items that I get noticable hungrier.
I am glad you realize that you need more cals. I think it will make the whole process easier for you, not to mention healthier and sustainable.
I am curious, what's the great soup you can make in 30 min!? I would love to hear about it if you have time, send me a PM.
Sometimes when you are working out a lot your body gets low on certain nutrients and you are left feeling lethargic. A gatorade (or better yet--a banana) always helps me.
Foods HIGH! in fiber are your best as it takes your body the longest to process and gives you the most energy, second to that is Protein and then follows Complex Carb'..(all are eventually converted to some sort of Glucose but at different rates, as glucose is the only for of energy for (RED BLOOD CELLS) .. if you can convert to multi grains ... Preservative free and if you enjoy eating Green Bell peppers raw... I will eat an entire one with "Marzetti LIGHT... (classic Ranch) all Natural. The Dressing only contains 80 cal. per 2 Tbsp. (30g). Try eating complex carbs and fiber before your work out and following consume your protein with fiber based vegtables. Maybe you have depleted your body of VitaMin's and Nutrients with the amount of Work you are Doing. The Three key Supplements i use are "Muscle Milk" in water, L-Glutamine Powder ( 2.5g. Pre work out {1/2 tsp} - 5 Grams Post within 20-30 Min and follow up with another 2.5-5 Grams (2 Hours Post work out) and another supplement that is good is (CLA) which helps boost thermogenic action in your body. (remember the Atkins Diet (CLA) is found in Red meat but you can not get it in large amounts on a diet with such restrictions .... you may not be consuming the right combinations of foods leaving you feeling hungry .... and as all Americans love their coffee 4 cups is A LOT and the Stimulants contained Spike your energy and metabolism up and down so you are actually causing your body to COME UP and come down on and off all day.... REMEMBER Stimulants contained in coffee are a DRUG to. Hope some of this information helps... and keep in mind I am 6ft tall 220LBS ... Medium frame and have an Active Job, Snowboard and work out..... Try to find your Balance but you MAY have a GLUTAMINE deficiency in your body as a result of the Stress you are putting on your body... you could just be going through a SHOCK .... THE LESS REFINED THE FOODS ARE AND THE HIGHER IN FIBER THEY ARE THE LONGER THE ENERGY WILL BE SUSTAINED. Here are some links to check out ......

(These are the best vitamin products i have come across, you may be thrown off by the expense at first but they are worth every penny when you feel the results and when using correctly). Take the Nutriphysical on the web page which will yeild results of suggested products for your specific needs. Along with OPC-3, I take the multivitamin with iron and also the Calcium. All of these are Isotonic and they are absorbed very quickly into the body when used correctly. Calcium mixed with the OPC-3 has proven results of decreasing inflamation in the body which can help especially with pain from workouts or injuries. My Mom has also had a huge success reducing her allergies with OPC-3 and Calcium...which acts as an anti-inflamatory and therefore reduces the body's response to allergens.
Check out the website....you won't be disappointed.

Marshmallows, flavored creamer and processed cheese are basically poison -- leaching your body of nutrients -- giving you a quick buzz that saps your of the sustained energy that will get you through your day. Coffee does the same -- a jolt to the adrenals that leaves you depleted. Eat fresh things, as close to their natural state as possible. I've been living on raw unsalted almonds, sardines, kale, skinless chicken, apples, non-fat organic yogurt etc. and I'm finding myself stuffed at 1800 calories a day.
There's something you should remember about coffee, which applies to all drugs: however many points of high they lift you above normal, that's how many points below normal they're going to leave you.
How much protein are you getting? Protein and high fiber foods keep you full. For instance, your breakfast of fruit and oatmeal is good on the fiber front, but has hardly any protein. Maybe add in some egg whites or egg beaters or some low fat meat like canadian bacon.
I have it down now! Sunday was a JUNK day...I realize that...and I hope this doesn't sound too terribly defensive. I have 4 people in my house to feed, and we are on a VERY TIGHT budget. I cannot afford a lot of extra outside of making the basics. It sucks I cannot spend a bundle on nuts, good breads ect, but sometiems I get to a point where the family has to eat..kwim??? There's a LOT of white carbs in the diet. Not really my idea, but DP was the king of the food in our house for a good year, so Bulk Rice and Noodles were bought and we are STILL using them. I have 4, 1 gallon jars of White Rice, and a half a coffee can of White Elbows....I cannot just toss them and start over my family doesn't have that luxury.
Normally I use Organic Half and Half but I haven't been able to fit into our Food Budget since before Christmas. The flavored stuff, is just a cheap substitute..and personally I really don't care for it but I am not the only person in the house that drinks Coffee.
I would LOVE to make a permenant switch to Brown Rice, or having tons of Seeds and Nuts as snacks for the kids, but our Budget makes it difficult.
For example,
Yesterday
I had Oatmeal made with 2% milk for Breakfast,
1 cup of Coffee with Flavored Creamer,
1 Cup Stir Fried Veggies, 1
Cup of Homemade Mac n Cheese (I am trying to use the White noodles so we can switch to a WW brand),
1 Apple,
2 cups of Black Eye Peas and peppers, and
1 cup of Cooked White rice (again trying to use it all up to switch to Brown rice)
2 slices of Home made corn bread, made with Olive oil and Water
I have started today with.
1 corn Tortilla
40g Scrammbled Eggs
15 grams of Shredded cheese
4 Grape Tomatoes
1 cup of Coffee with Creamer.
Lunch will probably be what we had for DInner last night, as it saves me money.
My snack will be Cantelope..I hate eating it but it will go bad...and I will be hungry..so why not.
Tonights menu is BBQ baked Chicken..though I will prolly not put sauce on mine, with Roasted Corn, and Steamed Veggies.
BTW, I don't log on CC, because I am on Dial up. If I had about 2 hours a day just to log my food I would do it...but between kids, Homeschooling, Housekeeping, Distance Ed work, its easier to just write down my calories. Perhaps I should start tracking other nutrients...I have the Calorie King book, and I think Protien, Fat,Carbs, and Calories are all there for various foods. ..but I mostly just log calories.
I agree with most of the replies here but I'll be a little more blunt. Your diet sucks...lol. You should be getting the vast majority of your calories from vegetables, fruits, grains and legumes and avoid nuts, seeds and most fats while you are trying to lose weight. They are good for you but way too high in calories while trying to lose weight. Most of your calories come from processed foods, white flours or white rices (corn flour isn't much different), dairy products and meat. You need a complete 180 turn in your diet if you want to be successful...

So you can keep track of what you eat - which enables you to analyze your foods and receive the following:
- Health Score of your overall diet
- Warning when you approach your daily calorie limit
- Overview of the good and bad nutrients
