Do you still feel flabby/fat even though people call you skinny?

Quote  |  Reply

OK so I think I would definitely fit into this category. I know I'm not fat but I feel like I have a lot of fat on my body and that I'm not very fit. A lot of times people are always like you're so skinny, but, I know that they don't seem my stomach or my thighs so I want to fix that. I've always hated my abs and I feel that they've never been anything but flabby. So if you only need to lose 5-15lbs and you want to tone up so that you think you're skinny too then post your stats and we'll start a weekly group with weigh-ins and support. I'll start:

Age: 18

Height:5.5 1/2

Starting Weight: 128

Goal Weight: 115

Part you want to tone up:
abs & thighs

Favorite part: My booty! haha

wow I can't believe how much drama is going on in here! I think I can speak for everyone (hopefully) When I say we've all had that perfect fit for a weight for ourselves (meaning that when you think of losing weight you know exactly the number you want to be because you've been there before). And personally my favorite weight was when I was 114 in 2006. I just wanted to make it clear that my profile pic is when I was 114 and I'm trying to get that toned again, It's not like thats me now and I want to lose 15 lbs, yeah I would look malnourished  and stuff if that's true. I don't have unrealistic goals because I had A LOT more energy THEN than I have now. But besides all that, I'm really glad that you guys posted your stats! I'm really excited for this group and I think that it's going to be really fun. Starting next week we'll have our first weigh-ins and we'll be able to kick start a -- week program (How long should the program be?) This is going to be really fun! haha I promise!

I know how you feel!!  Sometimes I think I have a hard time seeing my body as it is now instead of how it used to be 20 pounds ago....maybe focusing on exercise and what my body can do now that it couldn't before will help!  Anyway, I can't loose too much (not that I have a lot to lose right now) because I'm getting married in 6 weeks and that wedding dress needs to fit!!  :)  I'd love to see some more muscle definition, though...

Age: 24

Height: 5'6"

Starting Weight: 130

Goal Weight: 125-ish??  Adding some muscle and losing some fat mass is more important to me than scale weight

Part I want to tone: abs and back

Favorite part: legs

Yup this pretty much explains me.  Even though I have lost about 20 lbs in the past 2 years I still don't feel I look as good as I can even though people say I look good.  So I pretty much just wanna tone up and lose just a few pounds just for me..

Age: 19

Height: 5'3''

Starting Weight: 125

Goal Weight: 115-118

Part to tone: ARMS! and abs.

Favorite part: legs. (lots of running pays off)

I'm in the camp of toned. Don't care about scale weight so much. However, I'm lazy on the exercise, so getting toned is going to be a lot of effort. I don't mind being in the gym, it's the whole getting there part that I have trouble with. (Go inertia!) So I'm starting with calorie counting first and then I'll drop off counting when I can hit the gym regularly.

alrighttyyyy I deffently fit into this cat. My friend is shorter and weighs more and she constantly wishes aloud that she could be as skinnny as me. I showed her my cellulite and by belly fat and how i can turn it into John Belushi if i bent over... and when i lean on my side how it looks like my hip is going to jet out fat gunks. Yeah.. she laughed really hard and didn't feel so bad. But when you just look at me i'm not fat or chubby. i just have added .... inches that nobody sees except my bf who btw is smaller and way more toned than i am making it seem like i am bigger than i actually am...

I wonder if anyone ever reads these? Reply if you do.. I'm new round here i wanna see how this stuff works.

age: 18

Height: 5"8 3/4

Starting lbs: 149

Goal: 135 approx. depends how i look at 140

To Tone: Butt, Hips and theighs... also a bit of my stomach...

I read these too! I love reading the input of people around here. I feel the same about my boyfriend, he always complains about getting "fat" and he practically has a brick wall for abs! It makes me so mad! I'm just like dang if that's what you think about your body than I must be a sumo wrestler! But he still says that I'm perfect the way I am but when he puts down himself like that I beg to differ.

edit:remove (not a 'young calorie counter')

Wow. Youth is totally wasted on the young. I believe when I was 18ish I was 5'3" and about 100-105. Never even cared what I ate or how much I exercised. Now at 32 I have to pay a little more attention. If all of you skinny fat girls want to look fit start lifting weights, and try to avoid junk food. At 18ish your metabolism is still probably great and you can eat whenever you are hungry, just don't go crazy. being skinny but feeling flabby is just a lack of muscle, so add heavy weights (you can not lift more than 12 reps in a set). Relax and enjoy your great bodies, this should be the time of your life not a time to weigh every portion of food and obsess about a number on a scale. Throw away the scale, buy clothes that flatter no matter what your size and love yourself for who you are on the inside and quit looking and the tiny amount of flab. Or go see a doctor about your body image problems.

chblacks, I think that's true for many but not all people in their late teens to early twenties - the ability to eat whenever one is hungry, without packing on the pounds - but I'm sure a good portion of the posters in this thread actually do have trouble maintaining or losing weight, hence being a part of this website, right? Surely not everyone in here is self image obsessed to the point where they need to see a doctor about their 'body image problems'. That was a little rude on your part, I think. I know that I can't eat whatever I want and still maintain my weight - I used to be that girl. Now I have to work to maintain my weight. I do realize, however, that I can't take my youth for granted so I still appreciate the body I have now because this is probably the best it's going to be, haha.  Anyway, I don't think there is a problem in trying to look the best that you can look, even if you are only in your late teens. Just so it doesn't become a problem and as long as everyone is appreciative of their youth while they have it, you know?

that's how i feel. i know i'm thin, but there's hardly any muscle. people call me "skinny fat", so i still feel like i'm bloated or something, even though i'm 109, 5'7". (just gained four pounds).

Yeah I feel like that too, but I do have some chub on my tummy and thighs. But if you weigh more than someone else and they know you are trying to lose weight, they automatically think that you are crazy and try to talk you out of it.

People are weird like that.

I totally Agree! but then like if they're with other friends they're like well I mean she not fat... but she's not that skinny either.

Ok so it's a been a little over week since this post got started so you know what that means.... Weigh in time!! OK I'll go first:

Starting weight: 128

Current weight as of 05/12/2008: 124

I'm going to weigh myself again today (I only get a chance to weigh myself when I go to the gym which is on mondays, thursdays, and saturdays)

Good luck to all of you! I hope you have great stats too!

I want in on this!

Age:20

Height: 5' 3"

Starting Weight: 120

Goal Weight: 110

Part you want to tone up:
abs & thighs

Favorite part: my shoulders, i guess...

I want to go back to the weight on my drivers license! Hopefully that will happen in a month or two....

I am very toned, but I feel like I have some flab on me. It's ridiculous. Kind of ruins alot for me.

Age:15

Height: 5' 8"

Starting Weight: 130

Goal Weight: 130

Part you want to tone up:
Abs a bit more...

Favorite part: Abs, Biceps... All upper body really

Okay, so I'm trying to GAIN muscle-mass and LOSE body fat, although I'm already fit and mostly toned.. I still feel like a chunk of flab most of the time, which is sad. :(

Age: 17

Height: 5'0" (heh..)

Weight: 95lbs

Goal weight: Staying anywhere between 90-100lbs would be great.

Favourite part: Abs.

Part I want to tone-up: My legs. I'm sort of bottom-heavy, my butt and thighs tend to get widest first when I gain weight, haha.

Hi

Im 44 years old.  I am always being told I am skinny except by those who have known me for many years.

Im 5'6

135 lbs

I have lots of fat around my belly and back area of the middle.  Its in rolls.

I just don't know what to do about it.

I have never been this fat.  I weight more now then I did when I was pregnant with any of my three children.  Help any idea's what I can do>

Im almost 20 and about 5'7-5'8..i weigh 120 and look quite skinny in clothes......however, I seem to carry 99% of my fat in my stomach (lower mostly). When I bloat in the evening sometimes I seriously look 3 mths pregnant. I just feel flabby in general and would love to firm up and see muscle definition in my stomach, inner thighs (a little) and the awful triceps.

I feel skinny-fat too. Everyone's like, 'you're soo skinny' But I feel really flabby and untoned. And I have a lot of extra skin from losing weight. It's pretty gross...

Age- 15

Height- 5'4

Start weight- 174 (About two years ago)

Current weight- 120ish

Goal weight- Maybe 115... I mainly just want to tone.

Hi, I want to be in on this.  Do we weigh in on a certain day of the week?  I am used to weighing myself on Friday mornings.  I'd say I'm at an okay weight now, want to lose a few more, but definitely just want my stomach to be toned.  I'm not sure exactly what exercises are good for that - I used to do tons of crunches and leg lifts - and I noticed a slight difference.. but got tired of those after a while.  Any ideas?

Age - 23

Height - 5'2''

Starting Weight - 128

Current Weight - somewhere between 110-113

Goal weight - 108 and nicer stomach

Im 19 and 5 foot 5. I weigh 123 making my BMI is about 20. I am pretty skinny but... I am soft, I imagine that this is the same problem that many of ya'll have. Luckily it can be fixed! I have to do more strength training than the average person my size. If i stop excerising I do not gain weight, I actually lose it, strang I know. But then I end up with protrduing ribs and a round fat belly and pokey hip bones. So asuming you are like me, work your abs and sides!

Theres this you tube clip called 8 minute abs. Do it ever other day and do strectches the other day. This will do wonders for you since you are already thin!

Oh! This looks very cool to join. I joined this website today and needed something to join because I really don' t want to be a loner. x] I saw the title and was like, whoa this is me.

Age: 16.

Height: 5' 6''

Starting Weight: 137.

Current Weight: 132.

Goal Weight: 119. That would be amazing.

I would like to tone up everything below my abs. I'm bottom-heavy(ish) && curvy, but it's kinda more like the gross curvy.

I guess my most favortable part would be my arms then.

When is the weekly weigh in? I think I missed that part...LoL.
