So today I decided that I needed to gain a little more weight because
A) I'm still recovering from an eating disorder, and I'm at a 'healthy but almost underweight' weight right now
and B) because I don't have my period and haven't had it for over a year and a half
so today i packed in 2500(!!!!!!!!!) calories, which is only 300 over what I normally eat, but I'm FREAKING OUT! I'm so scared to step on the scale tomorrow and see my weight sky rocket, because the extra 300 calories i ate came from fruits, so its alot of bulk and its probably going to end up sitting in my stomach until morning! =( This is not what I wanted to happen!
Don't worry! Eating a few calories in healthy food isn't going to make you ten pounds heavier overnight. Two or three, maybe- but that'll pass within a day or so.
It takes 3,500 calories to gain a true pound of fat. Not 300.
Best of luck on recovering!
i know how you feel
i need to recover but i havent really got there yet
i havnt had my period for nearly 3 years now, but my mum doesnt seem too worried
those calories wont hurt you, just make you stronger and healthier!
i need to take a leaf out of your book!

I watch "You Are What You Eat" on BBC by Gilian McKeith ALL the time and one thing she says is that fruit is one of the fastest thing your body can digest. So you should eat it before other foods so it doesn't sit in your digestional track to long (and make you gassy) but the point I'm trying to make is that actually your body will probably digest it much quicker than something else. So no worries! It won't just sit in your tummy.
2500 is actually the recommended start number for females to gain from. :] My advice is that you stay off your scales and try eating that steady 2500 for a week and then weigh after one or two weeks to see where to go from there. Fruit burns up fairly fast, however, so the only "bulk" you might get would be from fibre in the fruits. It's okay! :D
Thanks guys!
Today i managed to eat around 2500 again, with less guilt, but that might've been because i played 2 soccer games. But i still did it!!
i just ate 710 cals in one sitting ..thats one black forest ham sub from pizza hut..god why!
i exercised for like 40 minutes but im scared it will all go to my thighs..
just be glad you didnt eat a ton of bread and cheese like i just did..
fruit is mainly water ..i think ill have it for dinner..im trying to stay at 1200 cals a day to recover. its really hard when u still feel fat but hairloss is motivating.
Nakedsoul: You want to be aiming for 2500 to fully get your metabolism working. 1200 is the bare minimum any adult woman should be eating and if you need to be recovering from an eating disorder you need lots, lots more. Add this to the fact you're describing compensatory behaviour in eating fruit for dinner and burning off calories to make up for something, while being scared it'll go to your thighs... doesn't sound like recovery has fully set in for you, to me. Are you working with someone in this?
