Why do I feel huge?
Asked by seannysgal on Jun 18, 2009 in Emotional & Behavioral Issues

I eat healthy and exercise 3-5 days a week.  But when I look in the mirror I look huge. What's wrong with me?

Answer

Sometimes, we feel huge we are only 10 lbs overweight.  It usually comes from not feeling good about ourselves in general.  You can improve your self-esteem by curbing self-criticism and accentuating the positive. Try making a list of ten things you like about yourself and read it everyday.  Listen to yourself, and replace all negative thoughts with more realistic ones.  If that doesn’t help, you might want to talk with a mental health therapist.  In its worst form, body dissatisfaction is a mental condition called Body Dysmorphic Disorder.  Read about building your self-esteem at About.com.
