Don't give up...EVER.  Where there is life there is hope.  There is always a possibility that you just need to tweak something your're doing or stop doing something you are doing.  Are you exercising or just dieting?  Are you tracking what you eat?  Tell us your routine and then we can offer suggestions.  Plus, if you are exercising, remember that muscle weighs more than fat and as you build muscle you won't see it as weight loss but inches.

You've lost more than two pounds a week!  You are most likely looking for quick results but I'm here to tell you that slow and steady win the race.  People who lose quickly usually gain it back over time but if you methodically continue to lose two pounds a week, it is because you've made changes in your lifestyle.  If you continue those changes, the weight loss will be permanent.  You need to believe in yourself.  Cool

Whatever you do, DON'T QUIT! Quitters never get to where they are suppose too, because they quit. What have you been doing? You have been something right you lost 14 pounds. 14 pounds is nothing to turn your nose up at. Look at your workout routine, is it intense enough? Cardio is king. What are you eating? I would be glad to share what I am doing with you.

Fourteen pounds in six weeks?!!!  That's great!  We're talking about 3, five lb bags of flour!!!  Visualize how much that is!  Try carrying around a 14/15 pound weight for a few hours and see how it feels!

You'll see visible differences soon!

Ditto that - Don't quit! 14 lbs is pretty significant! That's really good. I'll bet you're also losing some inches. Maybe you could stay motivated if you take all of your measuremetnts and log them down and then track them regulary. I find that losing a inch here and there are really good motivators to keep at it.

Also, go out and try on jeans. Find a pair that is currently pretty tight and hard to get buttoned up. Buy them and keep them hanging in your bedroom or bathroom as your motivation to keep going. Set small goals and you'll find the will power to continue. Laughing

We might be able to offer advice if you tell us about what you're doing/eating/exercising, etc. Hang in there!

Wow, 14lbs in 6 weeks is great! How much do you want to lose? If you have a significant amount of weight to lose then 14lbs wont necessarily make a big difference, but persistence is key!

I feel you on the frustration! But really? 14 lbs in 6 weeks is amazing, that's over the reccomended 2lbs or 1% loss a week! I mean are you honestly thinking you wanna give up after 6 weeks of hard work? I ate like a pig this week.. and moments when I feel like giving this whole thing up, I give myself a kick in the butt. I think about weight loss like stairs, like steps leading to my goal. In your case, your 14 steps up the ladder, the goal is closer than it was 6 weeks ago. You wanna climb back those stairs just to realize you need to climb them again anyway?

Ok maybe bad analogy, but what I'm saying is... its a great accomplishment! You should be proud of all the hard work you've put into the last 6 weeks and think about how much you've learned about your body that you didn't before you started this journey.

don't give up.

that is rather stupid to disregard a healthy lifestyle because you can't "see it"

...

this is a common occurance of "calorie counting"; yes while having a deficit will almost always guarentee a drop in the scale, it does not guarentee what type of weight is being lost... fat, muscle, lean mass, water, etc.\

the majority of the first pounds lost consist of water weight, not "real" weight, or fat, which is why they seem to come off so easily... to lose noticible real weight you are going to have to eat a wholesome diet AND excersize.

let me explain: when one diets, they will only become a smaller version of their former selves... but if you add excersize into the equation, then the weight that is lost will likely be composed more of fatty tissue, and the results will be noticible as your body tightens and tones up, decreases BF% and loses inches.

some people weigh more then they look because they have a low BF%, and lots of lean muscle.. ex: a 120lb sedentary woman can look BIGGER then a 135lb active woman of the same height

a calorie is NOT a calorie... I hate how everyone on this site is brainwashed by this. Not all calories are equal, the body processes foods differently by using energy, and calorie counting does not take into account of the thermic effect of food. A calorie of simple sugar digests a lot differently then a calorie of lean protein.

therefore you NEED to stick to a primarily whole/clean food diet... throw away all that process, packaged garbage "food"... just because it is low cal or low fat or blah blah, does NOT mean that it is good for you!! look at the label, look at the ingrediants, can you pronounce them? if not put it down. A good rule is if it wasn't around 100 years ago, then you probably don't need it.

seriously the types and amounts of food you eat will have the greatest impact on your body, you need to feed it properly. If you were to build a house, then you would want to use the best quality materials right? Well the same goes for your body, feed it the best qualility foods, and you WILL see a change. You will lose excess water weight/bloat, feel energized, feel healthier, have better skin and hair, and of coarse lose weight.

OMG--14 pounds in 6 weeks! That is amazing! I am SO jealous! I WISH I could lose 14 pounds in 14 weeks!!!! don't give up. Keep at it. You will be swimming in your clothes in no time.

I consider that BIG success! I have lost 13.6 pounds in 8 weeks and I am thrilled. Just imagine you probably wouldn't have lost anything at this point if you didn't make a change. Keep up the good work........WOW I think 14 pounds in 6 weeks is impressive!

14 pounds in 6 weeks is great..I spent 6 weeks at the same weight, and I was doing everything right, perhaps too well. I have at least 100 to lose, so there was plenty to move, it just wasn't budging.

I kept holding on, however tenuously, thinking that weight loss is just around the corner, any minute now. Two days ago, I finally had  a loss on the scales..only 2 pounds, but oh, what a relief.

I'm soooooooo proud of the new me who kept persevering, an achievement in itself. It was hard at times to not throw in the towel and binge my sorrows away.

Just be thankful that you had that loss..I would have loved half of that in the last 6 weeks. If you do have a slow period of loss, just keep fighting..think of how hard you've worked to get where you are, and be proud of thatSmile.

Thats actually such an achievement! I have been at this since Monday (6 days), and to loose 14lbs seems so far away...

Please do not quit keep your eye on the future and look in the long run on how healthier you will be.  You will be so much happier in the end. Losing that much weight in 6 weeks is a great accomplishment. Keep it up!

Last time I complained about losing only 15 pounds, my gym instructor put a 15 pounds weight in my hand and said: "That's what you lost!".  I must say that made quite an impression on me. Smile

Don't give up!  14 pounds is truly a lot of weight you removed.  The rest will come off.

Thank you Carmen.  Looking at your profile, I think you are living proof that your advice is educated.

Weight control is more complex than a simple caloric deficit.  But there is hope, society is ever so slowly getting there.

Thank you for taking the time to explain all this at length in your post.
