I feel like I look the same...
So I have lost 21 pounds in about 2 months. Just trying to eat healthy, excercise more. Not wanting to do anything crazy. People keep commenting about the weight I have lost, but I feel like I look exactly the same as I always did. And I am really not sure what to say when people say "You've lost weight! You look great!" uh, thanks yeah I must've looked like hell before. IDK, just kind of venting. Feeling frustrated and annoyed.
Reason: Moved from H&S to Motivation, where I think you will get more responses ... Thanks!
You see yourself every day in the mirror so the change is simply too gradual to really notice it.
I know exactly how you feel! I feel the same way I did before, and see the same me in the mirror, yet I *know* I am slimmer because I fit into much smaller clothes now. I have lost a comparable amount of weight to you also and people are constantly telling me how much better or more svelt I look.
Although I know we have to wonder how we looked before I suppose, I just grin and say 'thanks'. It isn't easy to lose weight and we have A LOT to be proud of. I also am sure I *must* look better without all that extra poundage, right?! And honestly, I think most people mean it in a nice way.
So chin up girlfriend, you look fabulous, have done fantastic in getting yourself into a healthy lifestyle and should rock your new body. Remember, even if it feels the same it definitely doesn't look the same!
Thing about weight gain versus weight loss.
When you gain weight, it's sometimes goes to certain parts of your body first. Which is why some people end up looking like a pear, or apple, or basketball. Like the weight immediately goes to your butt, or stomach, etc. before other areas. The only real sad thing about weight loss is that when the weight comes off, it comes off pretty much evenly. So for awhile you will *still* have a unfavorable body shape that may make you believe you haven't changed. You have gotten smaller, but the shape has changed very little.
But if you keep losing the weight, eventually things will begin to even out.
Use the clothes idea. Better yet, get a body measuring tape and or body fat calipers and learn how to use them! I'm a guy and over a month ago I was a size 54 waist and now I'm a size 44! (10 inches woot) But, I seriously felt like nothing was happening, but then I realized I had tucked my belt in a bunch of notches and realized that my tight fitting 54's would drop to the floor without my belt.
My buddy got me onto the measuring tape and calipers - now I'm starting to record and track my progress.
Good luck to you!
