Quote  |  Reply
I count calories everyday. I am on a diet... but help.. I feel sleepy in the mornings.. WHY? I also feel sleepy after working out at the end of the day.

Another thing. How do I know if my metabolism is slow?

Thanks

don't know... i have the same problem. the only time im really awake is when i go to bed at 10pm. throughout the rest of my day, give or take a few hrs after rising, i'm real sluggish.
Perhaps you aren't eating enough during the day, or eating the wrong things.  Some foods burn slower than others and keep you energized longer.  Try adding some complex carbs, whole grains, beans, that sort of thing.  Perhaps that will increase your energy level.
How many hours do you get a night of sound sleep?
Thanks for your replies. I sleep 6 hours sometimes 7 hours but last night was unusual. I slept 4 hours.
that may be why? Your should be getting atleast 7 if not 8 hours of sleep!
but I do feel the same way when I get 7 or 8 hours of sleep. I thought it is because of the diet???

any recommendations ??
Do you consume a lot of caffeine? I find that drinking caffeine really disrupts my ability to get into the Rem cycle.
How many calories a day are you eating?  From all your prior posts, you are usually not eating nearly enough calories.

If you still have a low calorie intake, your are probably not getting enough energy and that is why your body is tired.  Specially if you are working out and always feeling tired and sluggish.
Bigtwinky: I get 1300 calories a day and I work out 60 minutes a day. I sleep 7 or 6 or 5 hours a day:)
probably not enough calories, as everyone has said.  If you're only consuming 1,300 and working out for an hour (i'll assume at least 300 calories burned), you're at a net calorie intake of less than 1,000 cal..which as you should know, is not nearly enough for anyone to be healthy.

Try eating more  (i wish every problem could be solved with such an easy answer)
I just started calorie counting last week, and had the same problem. I didn't feel hungry, as I was eating throughout the day while counting, but felt sluggish and lazy all week. Once I realized that, I figured it was because I wasn't eating enough calories (1500 or so, but I'm going to aim for closer to 17-1800 for now to solve that problem.) If you are tired, it's that much harder to exercise and burn off the extra. Better off eating another snack and doing some exercise.
If you feel sleepy after 7 hours of sleep, you have to make sure you are eating a balanced 1300 calories. Best thing to do is get a blood check up done, could be blood sugar levels, Iron? Take vitamins, eat some type of fruit.

What type of food do you eat to get 1300 caloires?
