Feeling Defeated!
Okay, So before I started my most recent journey I worked out maybe 1-2 times/week (only cardio) and ate pretty much whatever I wanted.
A little over a month ago I decided it was time to do something and started calorie counting. Now I eat MUCH better than before and about half as much. Along with that, I have hired a personal trainer who I do weight training with twice a week and then cardio on my own 3x/week. It has been about 5 weeks now and NOTHING has changed! When I say nothing, I mean no weight loss and no inches lost...
I thought that because I went from virtually nothing to this new routine that there would/should be a change in my weight/inches right away, and if not right away, then shortly after I start, but still..nothing
Im starting to feel like giving up, because im not seeing any results and Im working really hard. I find it so hard to turn down desert or wings and beers with my friends when its not paying off anyways...
I know that the moment I see that its working for me it will motivate me to keep it up and work harder, but right now I feel like its useless and just cant get motivated!
Here are my stats:
CW: 160
GW: 135-140
Height: 5'5
Age: 22
I eat roughly 1200-1400 cals a day when not working out, and up that to about 1400-1600 on days when I am workint out.
Can someone please tell me whats going on? and when I might start to see some changes, because at this rate I feel like giving up!
For me, it was better to keep above 1400 (my stats aren't far from yours - F, 27, 5'6", Starting Weight 168, Goal/Current Weight 135).
Maybe don't go down to 1200, even on non-workout days, and see if that helps.
The complete opposite answer is that you are eating more than you think, and you need to make sure you are measuring/weighing everything. But only you know if that's what's happening.
Looks like I've found my CC twin.
I'm 22 (23 in January), 5'5" and 159lbs. I'm hoping to get to 140, but 135 or 130 would be amazing.
Send me a message or something and we'll chat.
I'm wondering if you're keeping an accurate count of your calories. For me, I always OVER estimate everything, to assure that I stay within my limits for the day. For some reason I dont always trust what's on the label... So I'll add an extra 20 cals to it. Or, I wont trust myself to have measured correctly, so I'll add a few calories to my journal.
What is your diet consisting of? Everyones body reacts differently to certain foods. You might try changing things up a bit and see if that helps.
Also, it's highly possible that you're losing fat and gaining muscle at the same time. This would certainly explain the scale not moving.
But definitely shoot me a message when you get some time. You're the first person I've come across with my stats. I also started my diet a little over a month ago.
ya, I'm the same, a little older then you guys but pretty much the same stats. Sometimes I think that working out is the culprit in all this dieting stuff. In the past I could lose weight by counting calories and not working out. But I gain it all back. So this time I thought I would try the healthy way, by exercising and counting my calories not as much, I eat healthy foods only and have not shed one pound or an inch. I also feel like I want to throw in the towel, but I keep thinking that one of these days it will start coming off. I have read alot of posts about frustrated women who have started working out only to find that it dosen't help them lose the weight. I just don't get it. Anyways good luck and keep trying!!!
