Using my rough estimations, I'm supposed to eat around 1100-1200 calories per day. But with the foods I eat, I feel way full at around 900 cals a day. I'm having this problem right now. I was full today at around 700 cal (I know, not healthy) so I ate another 200 worth, but seriously, should someone stop eating if their body signals it's full?
I think that also may be a problem... I started a new diet not really knowing much, cutting my calories drastically down to about 1100 a day (on reflection, I probably ate around 700 a day, I also had a couple cheat days as well), lost about 5.4 pounds in two weeks, then gained back a pound last week. I assume I'm going into starving mode, but will forcing myself to eat when I don't want to help me?
Sorry if this was confusing. It's confusing me. xD
Eat more calorie dense foods like nuts and dried fruits.
You can eat a small amount of them, but consume a lot of cals. Toss a tablespoon or two of sunflower seeds onto a salad at lunch or dinner, or spread some peanut butter on your morning toast. A handful of almonds make a great snack that isnt too filling, but will keep you from being hungry.
Since starvation mode is the extreme slowing of the metabolism to conserve calories...I can see how it would also cub your appetite, but idk if there is a proven correlation.?
Hmmm, thank you! I'll try that out, maybe even now
Another quick question: let's say I go running for 30 minutes - how much would I have to eat back (in addition to my daily caloric limit) to prevent myself from slipping into starvation mode again? I really want to lose weight as safely and efficiently as possible.
Another suggestion is to have some of your calories in liquid form. A body just does not register them as calories. One of the reasons that foo-foo "coffee" from Starbucks is so evil. :)

well, you want a deficit between 500-1000 cal a day. So if you log the 30 mins of running, whatever number of cals burnt during that time should be added to how many you burn w/o exercise (CC tells you this on your account page). With those two numbers together, you want to then eat 500-1000 calories less than that to lose weight safely. make sense?
Also, you probably should be eating more than you say you're supposed to. NO WOMAN should eat below 1200 calories a day, you need those calories to keep your body functioning. I'm not sure how old you are, but teenagers have an even higher minimum. I think it's around 1500 AT THE VERY LEAST. SO just s a thought, you may want to start slowly adding more calories as well. I had to come to the realization that more is not bad, and I've had much success.
Yep katie, I've figured that out now. I went the "I know better" route, and that bombed. So I do eat at least 1200 a day now.
Is jump roping as good an exercise as running?
In terms of calorie burning, moderate jumping is about equal to running a 10-minute mile, although calorie burning is always a function of time... Read more
