don't quit! I mean, think about it...you've lost almost 10lbs in how many weeks?? A little more than 2! That's great!

Everyone wants to quit. I for example want to binge eat SOOO bad. but you know what? i can't be/feel fat forever. I don't want to have to delete facebook pictures of me because I think i look fat in them.

How much are you eating? If you aren't eating enough, of course you are going to get the urge to binge. Try upping your calorie limit a little, just enough so that you don't feel so deprived.

Why are you hungry???

What are you eating?.... Exactly what are you eating and how many calories are you going for?  I mean, that's 9 pounds in 23 days??  It's taken me about 3 months to lose 10 pounds (I'll admit I'm a bit slow ;-) -- some can be water weight but that still seems high for 3 weeks at that low of a weight.

I've been at this for nearly 2 years now and one of the things I promised myself (this is way before I found this place) is that I would NOT be hungry to lose weight.  It's just not necessary.

I feel your disgust, I'v been eating the right calories and I don't foresee any weight loss for this week. I'm almost convinced I have to either low carb it or take a pill to get to my ideal weight Frown
maybe you need a 'cheat day'?  They help me when I feel I'm getting burned out.

Thank you for the reminder that I have lost a steady amout since I started this diet.....I think I am feeling this way because I am one week away from having my period.... And I always want to eat everything, around that time....LOLSmile

Oh yeah, PMS time for me is SO HARD!!!!  I keep a 75% cocoa dark chocolate bar around and have a square or two with a small glass of red wine during this time.  I think it keeps me sane.

I also agree with PP, are you eating enough?  I don't want you to go hungry, dear!

I have 1400 cals a day and it seem to be good until 3 to 4 days ago.... But I think I have an idea as to why....As in my reply to another response ...

haha i know how THAT feels...maybe that's why i feel like having a chocolate/vanilla muffin fest at my apartment this weekend. don't worry, everyone hits a rough patch. think of how good it'll feel once you get over the hump and keep losing weight!

I feel ya girl!  I'm exactly the same way RIGHT NOW!  I'm getting so frustrated.  I've put back what I've lost.  I just need to take a deep breath and start over.  You've done so wonderful, keep going.  We can all get through this together.

I get those feeling and everyone I talk to about it does, too.  Not to delve into anything emotional, I'll just say that my vote is for:  HIGH VOLUME, HIGH FIBER, LOW-CALORIE FOODS.  Fiber gives the same satiety of fat without the calories.   USDA research found that for every gram of fiber you eat, you block 7 calories from being absorbed.  I read this in a Woman's World issue about the Fiber 35 Diet.  I didn't buy the book, but I did increase my fiber and it's working!  I make a yogurt smoothie with 20 grams of fiber (I saved the recipe on CCP as "Tina's Raspberry Smoothie") and drink it for breakfast at least several times a week - I even bought styrofoam cups with lids and use a hand-blender to blend it right in the cup so I don't wash anything but the blender and I just rinse that off.  A cup of cherry tomatoes has like 30 calories.  Spinach is nutritive and super-low in calories.  SmartPop Popcorn in the 100-Calorie Pack (I dump the popcorn onto a paper plate and give it a couple of quick sprays of Butter-Flavored PAM) is another high-volume, low-calorie snack (4g fiber) that satisfies my  salty/crunchy cravings at TTOM.  No matter what else you're doing or how you're dealing emotionally, I promise that increasing your fiber will help.  On a different note, a friend told me he just saw Ricki Lake on some show and she's a size 4.  She made a comment that any of the commercial diets work if you just stick to them.  We don't have to give up - it's about finding what what works for each of us - especially if it's easy or "automatic"...   I wish you well on your journey!    Smile

You feel bad now but imagine feeling 10 times worse if you quit which you will
(speaking from experience) If you quit. If you quit that makes you a quitter which nobody wants to be.  Just be positive and keep telling yourself how much work and effort you have put into this. I know it's hard but you have to just suck it up and keep moving in the forward direction.

Good luck and hang in there,

Josepi

Wow tina that is allot of good info Thanks

Hey! Being hungry is your bodys' way of telling you "to maintain your weight you need to eat!" You're probably about to lose! Don't quit! You're about to see more results!

If you feel like you're depriving yourself then eat your maintenance! I hate the term "cheat day." It implies you're being naughty or something. Living your life & eating above your "lose" zone is not cheating.

Don't give up! Living healthy is not all or nothing! Enjoy your life!

Everyone can be a little "naughty" now and then   Wink Just don't get carried away!

Don't give up,  you're doing great!!! You can also up your calories a little bit--it won't hurt, just slow down your weight loss. And you won't feel like wanting to give up! :) If, during this one week every month, you feel you really need comfort food, measure out your favorite items in careful portions (you could even go up to "maintenance" amounts for just a few days--just don't go above that). Remember, it's not an all-or-nothing game!
I think you've lost quite a bit of weight in 24 days!  The dietician I saw recommended only a 1-2 pound loss a week and actually had me increase my daily caloric intake so that I could feel more comfortable while I am making these diet changes.  She also had me reserve 100 calories for late in the evening, which not only helps me sleep through the night, but gives me something to look forward to at the end of the day.  My weight loss has slowed to about a pound a week, but I actually feel good every day, never starved or frustrated, and the weight continues to come off (albeit slowly).

I also give myself a day during the week to eat something completely extravagant.  The next day, I get back on the plan and it hasn't negatively affected my weight loss at all.

I hope these are helpful suggestions.  Certainly, it is impossible to continue to loose weight sensibly if you feel miserable.  That's just not a good way to live life.

Oh yeah, and I ALWAYS give myself a day off when I am feeling PMS-y.  I would rather eat a little bit more and feel sane than feel like a sociopath.
I agree with blackbird, eating smaller portions at regular intervals throughout the day will keep you from feeling hungry. If you "save" some extra calories to eat in between dinner and bedtime it'll satisfy your hunger and won't slow your progress.

I'm trying to eat 6 times a day.  Breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, night snack (100cal only).  Because I used to have a really big bread addiction I am trying to cut it right back.  I used to have toast for breakfast.  now I have a skim milk diet shat that still has Carbs in it but also has a balance of fibre, protien, good fats etc.  It really makes me feel full.  Morning and afternoon tea is fruit and a few nuts.  Lunch and dinner has about 100g serve of protein (eg. lean meat or 1 egg) with as much salad or vegetable that I can pile on the plate.  Trying to have 2 fruit and 5 types of vegetables a day.  I am really not hungry.

By the way, it has taken me a month to lose 9 pound. Remember, if you are exercising you should add to your calories.

Good Luck!
