Feeling 'Hard Done By!!'

Quote  |  Reply

I have started keeping a written record of the Calories I consume ech day. ( That bit is quite fun actually) havn't quite mastered the electronic bit so I have a little black book!

I also do x2 15 minute sessions on our tread mill every day.

I have not cheated at all but have not lost even an ounce!!

Does anyone know whether being a IBS/Diverticulitis sufferer has anything to do with it? Certainly the healthier way of eating is good for that but I really would like to lose something!!

Any suggestions? My husband said I would need to spend a great deal more time on the tread mill for it to be effective in real weight losss. I find that hard. I am active through the day, gardening etc so do not lead a sedentary life style.

Help!  Encouragement! pleaseFrown

I just joined this site......and I can't really help you with your question but what I can say is that definitly adding more cardio to your workout could help even if its just 5 more min.....Also, I wish I could be as disciplined as you in writing my calories...... you should be really proud of yourself for that!Laughing......so at least you know you're eating healthy which is a big step, as my trainer liked to say its 80 percent diet, 20 percent workout...and I usually failed the diet part.....so really good job.....and the weight loss will come.....

Thanks for the encouragement sanamsSmile  I will try with the work out but it's so BORING!! Age is a factor too!!  Getting long in the tooth!! I'd much rather be out doing the garden.

Thanks again!

I am trying to cut the calorie intake to 1250 but suspect I may go over it some of the time.

Have a good day.

I have only been dieting for a week now...but I think you would need to do longer than 15 minutes at a time.  One 30 minute workout would be more effective at burning calories.

I have IBS with constipation though and I just try and make note of how I am doing with that.  Because there are times I KNOW I should be losing weight but I am not because of it.  I seem to tend to retain water easy when my IBS is bad too.  There are a lot of healthy things I can't eat because of IBS which is the hardest part.

gfrisby you have my empathy there  re the IBS problems.

I don't think at present I could manage 30 mins on the tread mill  I will try to increase it I am nevertheless active in loads of other ways and hardly ever sit down until the evening.

I will persevere with the calorie reduction. I am determined to do it in spite of any problems.

Thanks

Depending on your weight and what you burn your calorie intake of 1250 may be a little too low. I am 5'5" weight 207 and am 31 years old with severe persistent asthma that does not allow me to exercise at this point for now besides 10 minute walks here and there. My doctor upped my calories to 1800 and I started losing. I am slowly bring them down as a lose because my body does not burn as much when you start to lose the weight. Use the tools on this site to determine how many calories you burn with your lifestyle and then you want to eat 500 to 700 less then that a day to lose a healthy 1 to 1.5 pounds a week. This is the best way to go and make sure you log everything from spices to drinks, etc. They all have calories and to be accurate with your caloric intake you have to log everything. I hope that this helps. Feel free to message me with any other questions. I have been doing this a year and have lost over 25 pounds with this site and overall 90 some pounds. I still have a little over 70 to go.
Hey there,

good on you for trying to loose weight and making the efforts.

But I think you oughta up your 15 min to at least 20-25min I was told that fat burning only starts after about 10mins of working out.

Put some music on to make it more entertaining or go outside for an actual walk it's much more fun.

You are active! You said you do gardening and outside activities, hey, that all counts. Don't stress over the treadmill. I finally sold mine and got a mini-trampoline which is way more fun.  I see that you must be in Europe since you listed your weight as stones ( or that may be another poster). So don't know if you can find these (maybe on Ebay), but McDonalds put out four exercise DVD's last year or maybe the year before that have 15 minutes of exercise on them. I have all four, cardio, yoga, strength, core.

Hugs,

Joyce
