Feeling hungry but I'm just bored....

What do you do when you feel like your starving but your not? ( I just ate 15 mins. ago and was full) I think it mostly has to do because I don't have alot to do.  When this happens I obsess about being hungry and can't seem to take my mind off of it.   

Also what works for you to curb cravings?

when i have this problem i chew gum  and keep my hands busy at the same time. Good luck!

I used to do knitting and drink lots of tea with it! really helped... but now when I'm out and about waiting for my daughter during her dance class, I'll settle into a good book. Today it was Jaqueline Wilson... couldn't put it down!

It takes time for your brain and stomach to register that you're full after a meal. Remember that.

Do you like to draw, paint, sew? Something creative and calming? Write? Sing? Dance around your house? How about cleaning up, or taking a warm bath and curling up with a book? A brisk walk is also ideal, as the walk can aid digestion, too. Just not TOO brisk - you don't want heartburn!

Pick an okay food that you don't dislike but isn't dessert or sweets, preferrably something healthy.  If you'll eat that, then you're probably still hungry.  If you're not hungry for it, then you probably are just bored.

When I start feeling that way, I start sucking on a piece of hard candy and drink a large glass of water. I agree with staying busy, go for a short walk, for me my house has never been cleaner :-)

Whenever I feel like this, I'd draw or paint.

If you're sure you ate enough then try a hot drink....  It's traditional in many cultures to finish a meal with a hot drink or a digestif.   Tea, coffee, a herb or fruit tisane....

Its a good one because I drink a glass of water with my meal, then if hungry for a pud, I'll have a cup of tea while they have their coffee. I'll usually feel far too full after for anything lol

thanks for the suggestions.  Usually this happens when it is slow at work so I think i will try drinking a hot drink to see if that will help. Thanks everyone

A trick I learned is that when you're hungry, drink a glass of water and wait 30 minutes.  Many times the water will give you a "full feeling" and the hunger will go away.

I was off during the holidays and I realized that I was eating when I was bored or just watching TV...so try to find something to divert your attention like the others has suggested in this post.

drinking decaf tea really helps me!
