i felt sick at lunch today but hadn't eaten in 6 hours so i thought i should eat something... so i got a bowl of chicken noodle soup and Sprite. drank half the can of sprite and ate the soup including the not - wholegrain noodles... bad i know. my question is, is it better to eat healthy when you are sick so you have the nutrients to get better? or is it better to eat what sounds good?

Hiya Hockeygirl...
Personally, it's one day out of... oh.. lots, and you need something in that tummy of yours. It wasn't a double pepperoni and cheese pizza and deep-fried cheesecake.
When you are sick, try to eat something like a banana, or poached eggs, whole-grain toast, veggie soups, and sip fruit and veggie juices, and lots of water.
I hope you feel better, and focus on getting well again!! Don't worry about one meal.

Sprite and chicken soup are classic sick foods. Add in tea, toast, and cracker, and you have your main food groups for people with an upset tummy.
It's just one day, and I don't exactly consider a can of sprite and a bowl of chicken soup the ultimate in decadence. ;-)

I know how you feel. At the beginning of the summer I had a HORRIBLE ear infection and I didn't eat anything but white bread, chicken soup and gatorade for a week. The thing is that I wasn't eating very much so it didn't undo my diet. I actually had lost 10 lbs by the end of it (NOT a healthy way to loose but I'll take it).
Simple carbs are easier on your stomach. Just take care of yourself and drink lots of fluids.

I'd still eat healthy. You don't want to go out and eat a big mac from mcdonalds when you're feeling sick to your stomach. Personally, greasy, fatty foods don't usually make me feel any better. If anything, they make me feel worse. I'm sure that goes for most people as well.
When I'm sick, I eat a lot of soup and drink a lot of ginger ale or sparkling cider. Also, a lot of fruits and vegetables. Usually makes me feel a lot better.
I like to take supplement drops too, such as Halls Defense Vitamin C drops like on this page here: Halls Defense Vitamin C Supplement Drops. They taste good, and if you're not interested in eating, you'll still be getting (at least) your vitamin C, which helps your immune system.
Feel better and good luck.

thanks and of course you are all right. it is just one meal. and although it feels odd to eat less healthy to feel better, occasionally it may be necessary. and blast it anyway, no one should be sick in the summer!
