so usually after church on sunday mornings my family goes out for a light brunch.. today though, my dad and I went to this nice restaurant and since they said they couldn't make my omelette with egg whites [I know--wtf!] I had an asian salad instead. The salad consisted of iceberg lettuce, some bell pepper, a sesame-seed encrusted chicken breast, carrots, water chestnuts, mandarin oranges, and cashews. I had coffee with it. I ate like half the salad, and within MINUTES of leaving the restaurant I felt sooooo horrible! I seriously feel like I have to throw up, and I haven't actually FELT this way since I ate some rancid cheese when I was like 8. Does anyone know if poor food combining is to blame? Was it the coffee? Was it me not being used to so much food/many calories [what I ate was like 400-500] in the morning? As far as I know, I don't have an allergy to any of these foods. ugh, I just feel like CRAP! I took some mylanta but it's totally done nothing. can someone help me out here? :/

That happened to me last week after eating a burger after not having meat for sooo long! I felt sick and terrible ALL day. Maybe it was just the chicken that was bad? I doubt it was the amount of calories, but I would say just take it easy today and and don't order it again! Hope you feel better!!! :)
The omlette would've probably had just as many calories as the salad, if not fewer.
There is no reason to freak out about eating whole eggs on occasion.
what color was the bell pepper? Green peppers make me feel AWFUL as well as red onions. I think that it definitely could be that you weren't used to eating so much. I hope you feel better!!
there are a lot of food born illnesses. the chicken could have been underdone. there could have been cross contamination. something could have been washed improporly. there could have been a virus in the water (not much you can do to avoid that one) or the combination of foods could have just not sat right in your stomic. you could have been sick befor hand and it just came up then.
court2335--yeah, I guess it could've been something I wasn't used to.. even cashews. dm84--I doubt the omelette [provided it had been made with egg whites] would've been the same as the salad. the salad had cashews and a lot of sesame seeds which run pretty high in cals.
when I drink coffee without anything to "weight" it down in my tummy, I get a really bad headached, I get the shakes horribly, and I feel nauseous. It could be a combo of the coffee being hard on your stomach, and veggies that are hard to digest.
I'm with kayyou on this one. I was going with the coffee and the bell peppers being harsh on the stomach.
I'm going to naysay any food poisoning, simply because of the onset time ... true food poisoning such as salmonella poisoning or botulism takes longer than that to manifest.
You may be having an allergic reaction, they can develop out of the blue. Watch how you deal specifically with the foods you ate that morning and see if you have a repitition. You could have started the coffee without food and upset your stomach, you could have used those nasty plasticy creamers (icky), the milk you put in your coffee might have been a bit off. You could be having a reaction to the oil they used to cook the chicken or whatever was used to encrust the chicken, etc.
You might have just been having a bad day, we do occasionally get those.

A few weeks ago I had Chinese for dinner. I was craving sweet and sour chicken. OMG!!! I was sick for literally 4 days. I swore I had food poising. It wasn't the food because my dad ate what I didn't and he was fine. I don't know if it's because my body is not use to eating food like that anymore. I honestly do not eat take out or greasy food like that anymore. And after that bout of sickness, I won't either. It was horrible and for me I had to just let it take it's course and work it's way all out of my body. But I totally can relate to what you went through.
You may want to call the restaurant and see if the were effected by any recent food recalls. I heard on the news last night about dole recalling a whole bunch of packaged lettuce because of possible ecoli contamination .
