I found that my energy was greatly affected by my weight. If i found i lost alot really quickly some weeks i would be really lathargic. I found that as i kept up with the weight loss that my energy picked up more and more with every pound. some day i feel like i have to much energy to know what to do with it. ( desk jobs are not fun when that hapenes) But keep at it fight through the tired spells. Another thing i found gave me a bost of energy is if a enev for a short few min every hour or so do some sort of physical exsertion. Not much and not for long just enough to get my body and muscles moving again and give that surge of adrenalin.

Good luck and CHEERS!

How many calories are you eating per day?  As per the tools, how many should you be eating per day?

When are you eating?

When you say you are sleepy after you eat, is it after each meal, each big meal, any meal?

Have you spoken to a doctor about this?
I would also suggest going to a doc. Wanting to sleep all of the time is also one of the signs of depression.
well keep in mind i have 4 kids all under the age of 7, so when i get home no time for rest at work i sit at a desk an do literally almost nothing all day.as for cal etc

it says i should take in : 2150 a day

ive been for the past 7 days between 1200-1500 (mostly 1200) i usally try to stay about 1500cal

i eat breakfast aprox 9-9:30am

snack: 11-11:30am

lunch about 1-1:30pm

afternoon snack: 3-3:30pm

dinner between 7-8pm depending on what kid activities ive had

also im usally tired after my big meal, maybe its just lunch the one at work cause at night after dinner i exercise so cant be tired after that...
Maybe pay attention to how many carbs you are eating.  These are what give you energy.  People are way too afraid of them.  there is a reason why breads and whole grains are the biggest part of the food pyramid.  they should make up 40 - 50% of what you are eating (when looking at that colored pie chart in Food Log Analysis)  These are burned for energy.  Just try to keep it whole grains and wheat.
well i do get in the carbs a day sometimes a lil more then 50% but now that i think about it , there probally not the best carbs like i always have a 100 cal pack of cookies or reeses snack pack etc. i do usally eat ww light bread in the am, and chicken or fish at night, but maybe i need more fruits an veggies , i just hate feeling tired all the time i do think my job has something to do with it, i sit at a desk all day the only movement i get is when i go potty, or type..lol sad anit it
How much exercise do you do, what type, and at what intensity?
well i actrally just started the slim in 6 program last week its 25 min cardio & abs an i started the next phase last night which is 47 min. but other then that not much cleaning up at home etc
Have you ever been anemic?  I am at times and I get  really tired!  I eat something with high iron and it helps.   Get some lean beef in you and see if it helps!
Hi Erica, I too have a job that I literally sit at my desk all day and do absolutely nothing, and have had the same lethargic feeling, at first I thought it was just severe boredom making me sleepy, which is possible. But I just changed up my diet a bit so that I am eating more calories at breakfast/lunch and less at dinner and I feel great! You might try that. Hope it helps!
erica, i was feeling really sleepy too and I assumed it had to do w/ my diet. Then, I went to the doctor and found out it had nothing to do w/ food at all- I had mono! I would suggest that you do go to he doctor.
i hear soooo many ppl talking about mono.. ive been like this on an off for months would mono last that long?
Mono can last for months if untreated.  Untreated mono can also turn into Epstein Barr syndrome, which can last for years.  The sleepiness could be from the diet, but why take chances?  Check with a doc.  There are many health problems that can make you tired.  Make certain it isn't one of those by being checked out.  In the meantime, try some of the other advice in this thread and see if anything helps.  Eating more for breakfast and lunch, and getting some complex carbs are both suggestions that I agree with.  You might also try bumping your calories up 100-200, and see if that helps as well.
i am always tired tooo..  but i have severe obstructive sleep apnea..  funny thing is i was told the best thing i could do for it (besides using my cpap, which i cant stand) is to lose weight.. i have lost over 60 lbs, and am stilllllllllllll tired all the time...
if you eat a lot of refined foods, it'll make you tired. sometimes i black out eating refined stuff cos' it causes a rise in blood sugar like cray. try cutting down on it.

also, gettin tired could mean that you're working out and your body is adjusting to the exercise
You might want to have your thyroid checked out. My friend was feeling tired all the time, and couldn't figure out why. Her doc finally checked her thyroid and her levels were low.
ivd had my throid checked before no issues, no anemic. as of today imma up my calories. the problem with seeing a dr is i just relocated an i have no issurance

Another thing to check are your vitamin B12 levels.  I had the same symptoms, and even burning/tingling sensations in my legs.  Dr did a complete blood work and found my B12 levels very low.  I receive B12 shots, every 2 weeks, then to once a month.  I could not believe the difference it made.  I could wake up in the morning, I didn't feel tired by 10am, and the tingling/body ache, low fever went away.  I didn't have to nap during the day, and after a while, I didn't have to lay down when I got home from work!  I also bucked up and quit smoking with the help of Chantix and that was a biggie....  My fatigue isn't as bad, and we are thinking if it doesn't go away, that there may still be something causing it, but so far so good.  I've gone to more greens and colored foods, but still eat plenty of red meats, went to low caffene in any drinks.  I know insurance covering Dr visits is a huge expense, but your quality of life is just as important.
Hi Erica200, Peaches0405 is right...you HAVE to eat carbs (good)carbs. I use to be sooo tired all the time too. I started taking multivitamins and eating alot more whole wheat breads, oatmeal, vegies and fruits. Now I feel like I have alot more energy and I'm much more happier (mentally). The other morning before working out, I had a Thomas Mini Bagel Bread...whole wheat  (toasted) (MMmm, they are so good)  w/ a poached egg and two slices of turkey bacon. Oh my gosh...I couldn't believe the energy and strength I had. When I left the gym, I felt like I could actually do more. It must be the carbs and protein that did it because I am def. NOT a morning person. it takes me a couple of hours just to wake up! Anyways, all I can say is don't be afraid to eat a good amount of good carbs because they really are so good for you, and they are filling. Now-days they are making alot more whole wheat products that taste great! Good luck! Please let us know how you are doing. P.s. Yes, the children can def. wear you out lol...I wish I had half their energy!!!!
haha i told you that you had mono! I'm only kidding. Youre fine chicka. You just need some rest.  and put away those 100 calorie packs! :) eat an apple instead. I love apples. Oh i think im going to eat one right now.
