It feels so good....

...to be healthy again! Finally, after losing my period entirely for about 9 months, I got my period this morning! I am grumpy, bloated, craving salty food and in general not fun to be around, but I haven't felt as beautiful or womanly in a long time. I gained enough weight back to get a period, but still be comfortable with my size. I did it by myself, no birth control or anything.

There is hope to any of you that lost your period! It will come back, and when it does it is great. I wish you all the best of luck :)

congrats!! Smile i know what you mean.. i felt on top of the world when i got my period back, haha. it's a great feeling and sense of relief right?

congratulations!

im waiting for that, did you need to take meds to induce it? im thinking i may need to.  any secrets other than the obvious weight gain?

Congratulations!

Agru: Make sure you're also low-stress, not overexercising (I doubt you are!) and are eating enough healthy fats. Other than that - patience! :]

I'm at a healthy weight, but still lost my period for 3 months. I tried to be patient, but it was worrisome. I had read that missing a couple months after increasing exercise or losing weight wasn't anything to be alarmed about, but still, I was frustrated.

Then Hallelujah! About a month ago it returned on its own. Then this month, it was a bit late but arrived nonetheless. Whew!

I am soooo happy to have it back. I had done such a great job of doing everything right but felt like I'd messed something up anyway. When it came back, I felt so validated. I had done everything right after all.

ugh, man, i eat plenty of fat, bmi is about 20 now, defffff not overexcercising since i barely do any, im thinking ill need meds, not that im opposed to it, just hope i havent screwed myself over for life!!?

wander... huge hugs and congratulations.  I get a lump in my throat when those of us with ED's are strong and love ourselves so much that we will do whatever it takes to "live" again.

It's so joyful when you feel like the woman you are and your period returns!

Thanks guys! I didn't take any medications. It was a funny story, actually. I was at my wits end here, I went from 110-120 in about 2 months, recovering from extreme restrictions (1000 calories a day since February of this year). I lost my period and around September it hit me and I freaked out. I went to the doctor and he recomended me to another doctor. I finally made an appointment last week. She tested my blood and did a pelvic exam (yuck), and I was freaking out all week. I had an appointment today to get the results of my bloodwork, and when I woke up this morning I started!!!! After paying about $500 dollars in insurance deductables between the last 3 visits my problem cured itself!!! I gradually just started getting busy with school and not counting anymore, thats how I gained the weight. Now I am just maintaining it. Not gonna lie, peanut butter helped do the trick. I have been eating hella peanut butter lately.

Thanks for all your support! :)

thats awesome, really.  i dont understand though, ive gained too, healthy weight eventho im still gaining and towards the lower-mid range of the bmi.  i want my period, i want to know that im healthy, i dont know what else to do other than have it medically induced but dont understnad why mine hasnt started??

I know this advice probably won't help, but its finals week for me right now and I have been putting all of my effort and attention into my work. For the first time in months I haven't thought about my absent period. I quit worrying about it and thinking about it, and I think that helped? Trust me, there is probably nothing wrong with you. Periods are pretty damn versatile.  My gyn said that whenever you lose or gain weight your hormones are affected and it takes time to get them back to normal. Your body does it itself, in extreme cases that may not work, but it just takes time. Keep on keepin' on and doing what your doing. If it came back for me (the most stressed out, anxiety-ridden hypochondriac ever) it will surely happen for you!

thanks, yea, i guess when i go for my yearly gyno check up ill just ask him and worst comes to worse, ill just get the meds and go from there.  i know im healthier than i was a few months ago so at least i have that.

bejeebies! same here!

mine is finally back to normal, the last year it had been once every few MONTHS, and now its back to EVERY month (granted, i gained 5 pounds when school started).

It's great, cause you feel like your body is working the way it should!

WOOOOOT!

im so happy for you. now, if only mine would come back. its been 6 months for me, i miss it soooooo much. its really weird cuz i am at a healthy weight.

INTERNATIONAL-congrats, can i ask, whats your bmi? are you excercising?

i have an ok bmi and am not active, i just dont get it...

I hope this isn't the wrong place to voice this- but I'm trying not to cry; my period came back and I panicked. I want to feel like al the other happy folks who've recovered and are excited and I'm just not there yet. Physically, I'm healthy, but I can't seem to get my head in line...I can't stop thinking about 'when I was skinny'...I know it's skewed thinking...i'm sorry, I'm just feeling sad tonight.

My period is rather random - it comes only when it wants to. Sometimes I rely on pills. I hope my period will go back to normal soon!

: D
congrats n_n
I got mine back last week after 5 months, now i feel "normal"  haha
