26 - female - need to lose 60 pounds-ish - looking for a friend :)
hi,
i'm 26, 5' 8", i joined today and weigh 210lbs.
My first target is going to be 21lbs(10% of what i am now) hopefully in about 3 months, which i don't think is unrealistic.
I could however really do with someone on here to chat to, maybe encourage one another, vent to when i've had a bad day and vice versa. I'm not bothered if your male/female, any age, if you have 2 pounds to lose or 200 pounds to lose, just be really nice to have someone that is going through the same thing as me(ie using CC to lose weight)
look forward to hearing from you all soon :)
xx Kez
I'm pretty much in the same boat but I'm only 5'4"
well if you fancy some support just give me a shout :)
xx
Hey,
I'm 27 yrs old 5'7" and weigh 203. I would love to join you in losing 10%. I work in an office and have a hard time coming up with creative, fast, good for you lunch ideas (that aren't boring). Got any good tips? My coworkers love to go out to eat everyday for lunch and I always have to make sure I'm prepared so as not to be pursuaded into going out with them hah.

Hi all. I'm a bit older than y'all so if you don't mind an old lady, I'll join you. I'm currenty bouncing between 209-211 at 5'6". I did get down to 207 for one week. I'm having a hard time losing right now, my body just doesn't want to give it up. I can share wisdom and support though. My ultimate goal is 165 on a large frame. I'm pretty muscular so I think that is a realistic weight for me.
Hi everyone! I want to lose about 80 pounds. I am really stuck right now too. It's so frustrating! I also work in an office. It's hard to be good all the time when your co-workers want to go to such great places. I would love some ideas too!
Finding healthy food that doesn't taste like cardboard -- especially when it's stuff you're trying to take to work, instead of being able to cook in your kitchen -- can definitely be a challenge, but a bit of creative investigation thru this site's database can help a *lot*.
For example, my typical lunch at work is: 1) a veggie burger (I rotate the type for variety), which I occasionally season with a bit of mustard or Mrs. Dash, 2) eight ounces of some kind of frozen vegetables (again, rotating for variety) possibly with Molly McButter and/or Mrs. Dash, and 3) a Dannon yogurt for dessert (and again: varying flavors). This is high in fiber, low in fat, sugar and sodium, and very filling.
In my experience, the real barrier to eating healthier is that it tends to be more expensive. Before, I was eating a frozen burrito, a canned vegetable, and a pudding snack. This had a lot more fat, sodium, and sugar, and a lot less fiber. It was also about $1.50 or so per day, whereas my "new" lunch is closer to $2.50 or even $3.00. A dollar per day can add up and can be a big deal to many people (fortunately, I'm not one of them anymore, but it wasn't so long ago that I was).
I just recently joined too (about a wk ago). I think that is a very good first goal. I would love to join you in it! I started off at 223 so 10% for me would be 22.3 lbs. In 3 months that would only be 1.9lbs a wk...I think that's very realistic.
I agree with pianodwarf about the expense of eating healthy. Between me and my boyfriend we have 4 kids all under age 6yrs so it's usually pretty easy to please them with something simple (and cheap) like mac'n cheese & hot dogs...but now there is no way I can eat that stuff! So not only is it more expensive but inconvient because I usually have to make to meals ( or something small just for me on the side).

hey Kez, My name is Brooke. I am 26 and would love to give and receive support. I am 5'6 and looking to lose 75lbs. I also work in an office and I always feel to tired to excerise before/after work. I know it is cause of my extra weight making me tired. Any advice?? Also, Good luck to all :)
Hi Brooke, Chris, pianodwarf, cristin,1aprilfool, medayana.
Seems to me we could be quiet a good little support network!
Working in an office is such a pain, i snack so much when i'm bored or overly busy, because it helps me focus, so i'm having to find new ways to focus. Coming on her during my breaks helps actually.
As for lunch, well i'm really lucky because we have a kitchen we can use. Just a fridge, toaster and microwave, but today i had spaghetti and a pitta for lunch so its definitely useful. I think the trick will be for me to get up and take stuff to work! Otherwise i end up at subways or the burger shop.
What do we think then? My weigh in day will be on monday. Shall we meet and share on here? hopefully spurring each other on?
add me as a friend if you want :)
xx
preperation is definately the key to overcoming the office lunch battle. I try to make a little extra dinner every other night or so and box it up right then and there that way I have instant lunch the next day.
Brooke, I am the same way, always tired after work. I will try to talk myself out of going to the gym on the car ride home haha. If I don't work out after work I will generally go home, eat, and watch tv, then go to bed and my poor body doesn't get any excercize. For me it's all in my head, once I get my gym clothes and shoes on I already have more energy and I know I'll sleep better that night too. It's a constant battle going on in my brain, Me vs Me I call it :) I'm always so glad when I do get my butt in the gym though, it's a small victory.
Give yourself little rewards too, I think of something I want (non-food item) and tell myself if I go to the gym at least three times this week I can go buy this thing. I've even gone as far as giving the money for the item to my friend and telling her, don't let me have this money unless I do this haha.
I think a Monday weigh in sounds fine, lets do it!!
How is everyone doing this week? Things have kind of been hectic around here for me. I just took my oldest in for Kindergarten registration today. Trying to get everything ready for her to start school on the 13th!
Monday weigh ins sound good to me.
Hey guys! I am having a crazy week too. I am about to buy a new car and I am scared out of my mind. I am working out and trying to eat well....better I guess I should say.
Thanks for your ideas about office lunches......what do you think about breakfasts on the road????

that is a tough one, fruit and something like a muslie bar would prob be easiest to eat.
I hope is not too late for me to join your support group. I too work in an office and work out after I get home from work I can't seem myself getting up before work to work out. I have a 7 month old which sometimes makes it difficult for me to work out, he wants attention. I gained 54 pds. during my pregnancy and have lost 40 pds. of that so far, I thank that to breastfeeding and not having time for myself anymore. I got 14 to go until my pre-pregnancy and about 30 to go to where I feel good about myself and then 30 more to my final goal. Right now my issue is that I've been working out, eating better and the scale is not moving.

Hi everyone,
I'm 24
Started at 219
Down to 206 currently- Most of that came off in July after I tried a 3 day diet and really stuck to it- I have not gained the weight back and I am not really on board right now.
I think if you pick a day to weigh in and you start with
starting weight, current weight, last weeks weight, first goal weight, then ultimate goal weight- and off course our stats, height and age, we all can be supportive of eachother-
I found at one point I was not eating enough 1350 and bumped it up to 1650 and I lost 3 pounds fast.
As for breakfast on the road- 2 pieces of light bread (90 cal) 2 tbls peanut butter ( 1 on each slice) toasted if you prefer- and a small banana- this is loaded with protein and will keep you full- add a glass of water and a small cup of coffee and you'll be all set- No artificial sweeteners- if you have to sweeten coffee, go for a natural raw sweetener, honey, beet sugar, maple syrup (real) these are easier for your body to break down- Need a snack- Chocolate and Peanut butter- low glycemic index (no crazy sugar rise) 180 calories LUNA Bar- Nutz-over-Chocolate I bought a 22 bar case from my local convienent store for 15 dollars less than it would have cost me to buy the bars individually- they are great for on the go and they are filling.
So what do you gals thinks about working with dumbbells I've been told that I shouldn't that I should loose weight first and then do weights but then I'm told that muscle burns more fat and helps your BMR, what do you ladies think?
Working with dumbbells or weights is definately something you should do on a regular basis as well as cardio. It is true that muscle helps burn fat, even helps burn when you're not excercizing during the day. Keep your metabolism up too.

When this plateau thing has happened to me in the past it's been suggested to keep a food journal. A lot of times we eat things or portions that we're just not aware of because we eat when we're busy or distracted. Writing everything down might give you some insight on why you're weight isn't moving. I also wouldn't rely too much on what the scale says either, it's one tool to use but pay attention to how your clothes fit and how you feel more than the number, you'll get less discouraged that way. I don't have any kids but I imagine the body is pretty hard to predict after pregnancy too so you might need to try some new/different things to get back on track.
Hello all,
Did I read that we are going to have a weigh in on Monday? I am down. Anyway, I hope every one has a good weekend.
Cristin- breakfast on the road. Hmm Well I usually eat breakfast on the way to work in traffic. So I get quick and easy things also. I would have to agree with Luna bars, I also get quaker oatmeal to go bars. They are really high in fiber so they keep me full. They have 10g fiber and then 6g sol. fiber. what ever that means. Actually can anyone explain what sol. fiber is?? I alsp like fiber one bars they are good too maybe with a peice of fruit or yogurt. Hope this helps.
C you all Monday.
I weigh myself every Saturday morning, before I eat or anything. Keeps weighing as constant as possible.
Regarding fiber, this site has an excellent nutrition page:
http://caloriecount.about.com/cc/nutrients.ph p
Which will tell you all about fiber and all kinds of other stuff, too.
Have to also give my vote to Luna Bars... I find it odd that they do all the marketing aimed at women, they're perfectly good for men, too, but whatever.
