kernal - My best friend works for a non-profit organization called EWI, she really loves it. It seems like it would be rewarding work. House renovations! Uggh!!! I've helped several friends, my parents and my brother do renovations to their houses - everything from painting to knocking down walls! Good luck with that.
I live in Salt Lake City, Utah and I've been here almost 6 years. I work as a paralegal and as I mentioned before I have two jobs. I work full time for a corporate governance firm and part time for an attorney. I love the work and it's very diverse so it's fun. I spend most of my free time now working out (hehe) and chatting with friends. I like to go out and dance on occasion. I love to read, write, paint and sing. I'm very committed to my family - especially my brother's kids - Millie (5), Hannah (3) and Aaron (9 Months). They are so adorable! They live in Idaho though so I only see them every few months.
I like to cook but I don't like to clean up - I like a clean house but I hate cleaning - I like to watch movies and TV and am very addicted to my shows (So You Think You Can Dance, Psych, The 4400 & Snapped right now and Grey's Anatomy, NCIS & American Idol in the fall). The last movie I saw was Hairspray and I was pleasantly suprised!
PS sorry I haven't put up any pictures of myself yet, I'm old school and they need to get developed!
Last week: 235
This week: 234.... slow and steady wins the race, right? ;-)
It's nice to see people are still actively posting on the site! My story is pretty short... but I live in New Hudson, Michigan (a tiny city 35 minutes west of Detroit). I just graduated college a couple weeks ago, I've been married a little over a year, and I just started a great job at TRW Automotive releasing brakes for GM cars. No kids, but I wouldn't mind a couple sometime in the next few years!
I look forward to reading more stories from everyone! Have a great day/week :-)
i live in seattle with my boyfriend and am an analyst for the real estate division for a telecommunications company. in my spare time i draw/paint and am devloping a comic book series and also sew when inspiration hits me.
i adore animation and am pretty well versed in all things cartoon. i have a relatively obscure taste in music (goth/post-punk) and film (jean cocteau is a favorite) and also love trashy tv. i figure i have to balance the art with something mindless. i also read a lot mostly history, urban fantasy, biographies and anything fiction.
whew. that's all i guess!
the problem i am having with my comic coming along is time and visualizing settings. i might have to figure out something new for that. :P
mirrormask is one of my favorite films right now. mostly coz it is a new spin on "labyrinth" and has such a sweet story line.
Bethystan how do you find the time to excercise much less have spare time. i work two jobs during the when school is in session, as i assist with boys and girls club and i know it's going to be a struggle to keep up with my exercise rutine(i know it's spelled wrong). I walk 3.5 miles almost every night. It sounds like for the most part we all have jobs that we love and enjoy.
Merrily-that is so cool about the comic book series. You will have to let us know when it is done. Can you tell us what it is about or is it a secret until it comes out?
Have a great week eveyone. We are half way to the weekend. Hurray...though tomorrow is my last day of work for the week as I am taking friday off to go participate in the county fair. Entering a pie in the pie contest and tonight I'm going to go see how my photos and quilt did. Good I hope.
~cheers~
Working out is the most important part of my day! I don't let anything get in the way of that, especially the swimming. Even though it's a workout, it's very relaxing for me and I get to sit in the hot tub for 20-30 minutes after (I go to the pool about 9pm) and I love it!
I posted some pics of myself today, it's not at my highest weight but I look pretty much the same ~ it takes a while for weight loss to show up on me. Hopefully soon I will have a whole series of shots with decreasing weights!!!
Hi everyone,
hope you're having a good day! i love reading about everyone and getting to "know" people a bit more.
hey bethystan - what does EWI stand for? working in non-profit is ok...if you don't care about making money! HAHA honestly, it's very rewarding, but it's not all nicey nice like i expected...my previous job was for a national charity and it was cut-throat! i did't realize it was so competitive until i was there...at least where i am now is a bit slower pace. although i recently applied for a job with our city...want to try somthing different.
feeling kinda blah...waiting for TTOM to arrive...it's about a week late...took a pregnancy test (we're ttc) and it came back negative...i have slight cramps today, but nothing compared to what i normally have...so now it's just a waiting game! in the meantime, i am trying not to go nuts on the comfort food...
how is everyone else doing?
on monday I had weighed in at 194ish, but yesterday i clocked in at am impressive 191. unfortunately, today is my bday (woohoo!) so it's likely those low numbers won't be low for long.
:-) good luck all!
I see everyone's been talkin a little bout themselves and it's nice to see perhaps I should introduce myself a little better
I"m 21 and in college (summer break right now) I'm majoring in bio /pre vet and minoring in chem. I teach dance when I'm at school and I've been dancing since I was 4 yrs old (ballet, tap, jazz, and scottish) lol but I still managed to get fat lol. Also when I'm at school i work at the gym there which is awesome cause i can do hmwk at work and i get keys sometimes when i have to open the next morning so working out isn't a problem lol.
Hope you alll are having an awesome Thursday .........one more day then weekend bliss lol.
allisonnny - thanks for checking in! Happy Birthday! Have a good time but try not to go crazy on birthday cake and booze:-)
megegen - a little cake is ok! Sometimes we all need a little cake. My problem is, I'll then want to eat the WHOLE thing so I try to restrain myself :-]
Yesterday was kind of a blah day for me. I went swimming but I didn't go to the gym. I need to get on top of that, I'd like to be doing both everyday but sometimes I just can't do it!
Hope you all have a great day!
I am 21 years old and I am going into my senior year at Plymouth State University in Plymouth, NH. (Way up in the white mountains practically). I will be graduating with a BS in Business Management and a double minor in Music and Professional Communications. I am super busy and super involved in school, so I have pretty much zero time to take care of myself unforunately, but I have gotten a lot better. I am hoping to lose 100 pounds before I head over to the UK for Grad School with my boyfriend. He took me to London and Lichtenstein (where he was born and grew up) on Spring Break, and I think we're going back this coming Spring Break. He wants to go to grad school in the UK as well. So ::fingers crossed::, I hope it really happens. The plan is to get my masters in PR, Marketing, or Event Management. Essentially I'd like to work at a theatre venue in London, but we'll see how it plays out. :)
As for other things - I do lots of entertainment booking and event planning at school, I am the manager of our college radio station, I am a ACA (Apartment Community Advisor), and starting in a couple weeks I will be the Assistant Manager of the University Apartments, I do a lot of singing (A Cappella, Chamber Singers, etc)...yeah, I stay pretty gosh darn busy. But don't get me wrong, I love love love it! I can't believe I only have one more year!
This group has been so fabulous for me. You girls are just what I've needed. It's nice to know that I am not alone! I've lost 7 lbs thusfar. That's pretty amazing for me. The last time I actually lost a chunk of weight (like 15 lbs) was 2 Januarys ago when I had my gallbladder surgery. Anyway, I have been overweight my whole life..both my parents are, so it may just be genetic. But quite honestly, I do my best to eat healthy, it's just making time to go to the gym that's my problem.
Anyway, I ramble. I'm sorry this is so ridiculously long! haha.   ; I hope everyone is doing well this week!! :D Just remember, tomorrow is FRIDAY!! w00t. :D
~cheers~
i was thinking the same thing about not being motivated...i've just been blah all week. I went to the gym once...but i didn't really put the effort into that i normally would...then i was supposed to go last night but when i got to the mall (where my gym is) i just did a bit of window shopping and came home!! ugh...i'm trying to stay on track, but i am really hoping i get out of this rut soon!
i'm so happy it's the weekend. have a good day everyone!
