Ok, fess up, who is completely done christmas shopping?!
All the presents are bought and wrapped. The groceries too, the only thing left is the cooking.
I so agree with you, southcarolinaguy!
I'm heading out in 30 minutes after a quick breakfast, and I'm heading for a "surgical strike" at two stores, with the exact items in mind.
Mind you, my other half already bought the "outlaw" and friends' presents, so I'm off the hook for those.
One of the other rules in the men's book: delegate!
I have a few things for the 26th that I may or may not wrap. I like to have something for all children who attend, and little toys or whatnot for the adults, too. Adults get Christmas crackers (this year, these), and I also have something that is waaaaaay cool to share with them: SNOW! I have some for folks to play with at the party and some for them to take home so they can make their own.
Kids who are coming are getting these, along with a couple of bottles of soda and Mentos. :-D
Yeah, I like Christmas, a lot!
My parents also got their gifts in November, bought in October, but only because we got them tickets to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Everyone else in our families will get their gifts Christmas day, since that's what they celebrate. All of which we bought about two weeks ago but haven't prepared yet. They're gettin' tins of chocolate covered pretzels.
and now i've been so bored! i think next year i will go back to procrastinating! hahaha!
The goal for me and hubby is to get shopping done before Thanksgiving, which we accomplished except for 2 items, which I got the first week of December.
So, yeah, I'm ready. ![]()
Original Post by sun123: Like SCguy, I started yesterday but my procrastination was not knowing what to get - same thing each year. Still not finished and hoping for some "Eureka!" as a gaze through aisles.
I hope that works for you. I learned in years past that does not work for me. If I can't come up with an idea before I leave the house, it doesn't get any better when I get to the stores.
I just want to add here that any teens on this group: please be appreciative of your parents for all the work they put into getting presents and wrapping them. And all the men who delegate to their wives for the bulk of the shopping, please be appreciative!!
I bought and wrapped a total of about 40 presents... mostly for my two teenagers and my DH but *also* his parents, my parents, his brothers' families, my siblings' families, neices, nephews, his aunt, his uncle .....
It's A LOT of work, no matter when you get it done.... but I seriously envy those who just have maybe a handful of presents to buy and that's it. I think my kids would freak if I only bought them a single gift. LOL.
NOW I have one more hassle to worry about: xmas dinner plans have changed last minute, and everyone in my DH's family is hinting that I should pick up the ball and host a dinner here. ARGH. I had everything SOOO carefully planned out, so I didn't need to face the grocery store on xmas eve. :-(
Just call me "the Grinch" ... I'm feeling kind of negative about it right now and just want it all to be over. :-(
No problem! Since all the kids are grown and there are only adults in the family, we collect money and send it to a charity we select at Thanksgiving. We put an empty bowl on the table and everybody puts in a check made out to that charity. On Christmas Day we put them into an envelope and mail it.
This year the money is going Here
