Weight Loss

I have a somewhat sedentary lifestyle right now.  It's winter and I despise the cold with a passion.  I still make it to the gym about 2-3 times a week and exercise an average of 45 minutes.  I weigh 186.6 and according to this site, I should intake about 1700+ calories a day to lose weight.  The thing is, since I've changed my diet to being ultra nutritious, I can eat anywhere from 1200-1400 calories and be completely satisfied for the day.  Probably a dozen or so websites say that a male shouldn't drop below 1500, but I feel like I'm overeating if I do.  Is this normal?

P.S.  My attitude has improved and my energy level is way up since my diet/exercise alterations and brain function seems to be picking up as well.  I feel great :)

You are male? 1500 is the minimum. This is not overeating.

I'm smaller than you, and female, and I lost weight eating on average 1500 cals. If I can do it, you can.

Peanut butter, nuts, olive oil - all good ways to add calories.

What I mean when I say "I feel like I'm overeating" is that I'm full.  If I eat more, I'll get a stomach ache from being too full.  It's not mental, it's physical.  I wouldn't mind at all eating 1500 calories.  I just physically prefer not to (or am unable to).

If you plan ahead, I'm betting you can sneak in 200 extra calories. I'm not asking you to eat an extra burrito. Put a tablespoon of natural peanut butter on a piece of toast (or an apple) and you've got about enough.

It is important to eat enough. Usually I don't like to use the internet as proof, but there's a reason all those websites say that 1500 is the minimum.

Alright.  Thanks for the tips :)

If you're struggling to get above 1500, you may need to increase your daily fat intake.  I'm assuming that you eat alot of vegetables and fruit because they're super healthy, very low-calorie, very filling, etc., but you can't let yourself forget to incorporate healthy fats like olive oil, nuts, avocados, etc. into your diet as well.  Just a little bit of any of these, along with the rest of your food, should help you get to about 1700 calories without feeling uncomfortably full.  In fact, the fats will probably make your meals more satisfying and stave of hunger for longer periods of time.  Good luck with everything!
