too few calories

Quote  |  Reply
I seem to be stuck eating too few calories, around 1000( usually less), but if I try to add more calories I blow the whole deal out of the water.  I have no problem with the thousand calories, I have done it since November and have lost over 50 pounds with a month of relapse were I gained none of the wieght back, but from what I read here I could have lost alot more wieght had I consumed more calories.  Any Ideas on how to eat more calories without eating ALOT more calories?

I guess thats the deal come to think of it.
fruits and veggies...eat one of those mini cans of peas or lima beans or corn with one of your meals.
I can totally relate!  There's something about that 1000 mark that makes me feel in control, and adding to that seems scary for the same reason you mentioned - that it will push you overboard.  It wasn't until I found this site did I realize I HAD to add more...  I did it by adding half a serving of peanut butter to a piece of wheat bread for lunch - only 90 calories for half a normal serving of PB (1 tbs.)  Another way to slowly add calories without feeling like you're losing control, add some olive oil to your cooking. I've added a few cubes of cheese to a salad...  small things like that are easy to add and easy to control!  Good luck to you :)
i have the exact same problem.. i dont starve myself, when i am hungry i eat but i choose foods that are low cal and more nutritional so i dont accumulate as many calories to reach that 1200 mark. also, i can't eat a lot at one time i get full pretty quickly so i eat a lot of mini meals throughout the day but still cant seem to muster enough calories unless i go out for ice cream or eat pizza or some other food out of my normal diet.
If you are eating so low calorie (which is VERY unhealthy), then I highly doubt you are eating adequate fats. You NEED fat. Aim for 30% of your daily intake. Make sure they are healthy sources as well, like salmon, olive oil, flaxseeds, peanut butter, nuts, avocado, seeds, etc.

It's not hard to add fats. When you have whole grain toast, add a tablespoon of peanut butter. When you eat yogurt, add a tablespoon or two of ground flaxseeds or some nuts. Put a slice or two of avocado on your sandwich or wrap or salad. Eat salmon instead of chicken a few nights per week. Cook your foods in olive oil. Snack on nuts.

Also, fat really aids in satiety. You will never feel satisfied and you will never be healthy if you eat a very low fat diet
