A few Questions about the lemonade detox!......

Quote  |  Reply
I'm planning to start the "master cleanse" tomorow and wondered if anyone could answere my questions:

1. Can you still just drink plain water on the detox if you are thirsty?

2. How often do you have to do the salt water wash and what sort of salt do you have to use?

and has anyone reading actually tried it? how did it make you feel during and after???

thankyou

What is the Master Cleanse??? I bought the GNC total body cleanse before starting my diet--I don't think it did anything drastic...

the master cleanse is the lemonade diet or maple syrup diet. http://www.thelemonadediet.com/
I did the master cleanse

1.  Yes you can drink as much water (must be spring water) as you want throughout the day (you can also chew ice cubes)

2.  You have to do the salt water flush every morning on an empty stomach (before you have any of the lemonade).  It has to be sea salt that is not a source of iodine, if you can't see the word iodine in the ingridents then it doesn't contain it.  Also you should try and get a salt that doesn't have caking agents in the ingredients as this can make it difficult to keep the salt water down.

3.  I lasted 5 days on this detox - the on;y reason I stopped is unlucky for me I got the flu :-(  The salt water flush is by far the worst part of it, if you can't do that then there is no point doing it.  It takes some will power to make it to the end.

If you go ahead with it then good luck, hope you do well :-)

Thankyou very much i was getting worried i couldn't drink water! so salt water in the morning and laxative's before bed? sorry to hear bout you gettin the flu
Oh, I'm starting it tommorrow.. Did you read the guide thing? I have it, I can mail it to you.. But you use sea salt and you do it every morning.. im not 100% sure if you can, but i dont see why not..
No probs :-)  Yeah that's right laxs at night and SWF in the morning.  Not sure if you know this or not but I found the cayenne pepper made the lemonade taste horrible, after talking to people who have been doing the master cleanse for a long time they said that you can take tyhe cayenne pepper as a shot instead of putting it in the lemonade - so much better in my opinion.  This is also a great support forum ------> http://www.mastercleanser.com/forum/viewforum .php?f=1

Good luck
Oh. Ok. Thank you for the information.

What guide lol!! yes please.. :D! do you know if the shot is ment as adding it with water and doing it a shot like that? thankyou very much. emma how long you doing it for?
you should read the whole book. its free. google "master cleanse pdf"

the salt water is for ADDITIONAL cleansing and not needed.
i suggest to skip it. it makes some people throw up.
i had to hold it down. its also a mix for a yoga position where you drink that same mix to vomit after standing in a certain position.
so...ugh...i think its best to skip that.

add pulp to your lemonade as the book suggests. and dont take the senna tea more than 1 time ever 3 days. it can create dependency.
a lot of people who use it 2x a day or during the whole cleanse have problems when off the cleanse if they dont havea perfect diet.

also there is a pre-diet and post diet element to the cleanse.
follow it or you will be sick as h*ll.

Yeah sorry add a bit of water and take it as a shot

cheers that other website is really good 2!  i havn't seen anythin about a pre-diet cleanse yet tho i have seen the thing about only having orange juice on the day after and that

Expect to feel like cr%p around day 3-4 of the cleanse, those are the worst days - you'll feel like you're getting sick - it happens to everyone, and passes within a couple of days.

Use only sea salt... and getting the Grade B (or #3 in Canada) maple syrup is a key to success on MC --- the other syrups are too sweet with not enough nutrients, I've heard blackstrap molasses leaves you feeling great, but I can't stomach it.

I second the advice to follow the pre-and post- diets... they make a difference.

P.S. -- you will lose weight while doing it, but don't expect to keep it off in the long run.

I've done the cleanse several times.  It's great to get you back on track for your diet.  I would drink dieter's tea the night before and then do the swf in the morning like it reccomends.  Make sure you have time to sit on the toilet for awhile.  To do this MC while working seems difficult depending on what you do.  Just because of having to go to the bathroom all the time.  I've done it for 10 days before and lost about 5lbs but did not keep it off.  My fault. ( I'm about 15 - 20lbs overweight depending on the day!Smile) Now I can only commit to 2 - 3 days on it.  I just haven't had the mind set for it lately.  I think it is a good thing to do from time to time to clean out your system and a great motivation.   Maybe every 3 - 4 months.  I don't think everyone gets sick getting off of it.  I didn't at all.  Had some light soup and pasta the first day off.  Next day ate regular.  I was afraid to eat after not eating for 10 days but I was fine.  I think feeling bad during the cleanse depends on how bad you've been eating, drinking, etc before.  I would just get agitated during the process.  I wanted to eat something!!

I guess you have started?  Would like to know how you are doing.  GOOD FOR YOU!!

I'm on the master cleanse right now -- day 6 of ???

It's my second fast, did 30 days about 3 months ago, lost ~20lbs (155 to 135) and felt amazing!!!  I had the best intentions of keeping it off, eating healthy and exercizing.  Unfortunaltey I had to move back home with my parents, who first of all freaked out that I had an ED and started forcing food on me and soon enough I was eatinng not so great---not horrible but not good.  Now 3 months later I'm doing it again mostly to get control of my life again.  I don't have a scale so I'm not sure how much I regained but I can tell by my clothes that I definitely did.

Along with the weight loss, I think the biggest benefit I gained was the sense of control--which I have major problems with.  Now if I could only figure out how to keep it and apply it to normal situations.

My plan is to stay on it until I feel like I have that control back, probably at least 21 days.  I've read many forums on the cleanse and they all emphasize the importance of how you "break" the fast--you just can't go on a mega-binge and undo it all.  The whole point is to give your body a rest, allow it to cleanse and refocus.  I learned my lesson, this isn't super easy and I owe myself this after putting myself through this.

My advice to anyone who's considering it--do your research (from legitimate sources -- you can google Stanley Burrough's Master Cleanse for the real deal  -- prepare yourself mentally, make a commitment for at least 10 days and listen to your body--and lastly don't think of it as a quick fix to lose those 10 pounds and go back to you're usual eating habits because that weight will come back with a vengence!!

I'm happy to help answer questions if anyone is considering it.

peace

1. Yes.

2. You should do the salt water cleanse at least once a day. It should be sea salt.

I tried it and felt wonderful.
