Hi all, i've noticed that since i've begun watching my weight i've become a little bit .. errr.. irregular. i'm having trouble thinking of food options that are rich in fiber (or any other nutrient that will help!) does anyone else have this problem?

what are your favorite healthy fiber-full snacks??

fruit!

Fruit and veggies are always good! Whole grain crackers are fine too. How many whole grain products are you eating with meals? That would be a good way to sneak some in... whole grain bread with your sandwiches, for instance (the kind in my fridge would add 4 grams per 2 slices) or whole grain pasta with steamed veggies (one serving of whole wheat angel hair has about 5 grams, plus that of any vegetables you add).

Just try to increase it slowly... adding too much fiber at once can make you irregular too, but in the opposite direction in which you currently are.

especially raspberries, very fibery.

kashi go lean = protien + fiber

and i just eat lots of veggies. I dunno about the fiber in them but I always have at least 2 green veggies per day. (usually more) I am ms. regularity.

salad at lunch

broccoli and spinach or okra at dinner, also with a side salad

Beans are good too but I don't eat a lot of them.

I have melba toast whole grain - 2g fiber per serving.

I try to get some in every meal/snack.

Fruits & veggies of course.  My favorites are pears, apples, strawberries and canteloupe.  For veggies I like baby carrots, spinach, zucchini and squash.

I also love fiber one cereal.  It's 60 calories per 1/2 cup with 13 gm fiber!  For a fiber + protein snack, I'll mix 1/2 cup fiber one with 1/2 cup low fat cottage cheese for a very filling 150 calorie snack!  Yum!

My favorite high fiber foods are raspberries and blackberries.  And yay, they just got into season here!  They are sweet enough that I use berries as a desert, especially when I mix them with Sugar Free Chocolate Pudding.  Yummmm...

great suggestions - thanks guys!

i do eat whole wheat bread with lunch most of the time and veggies too. i love fruit but i try to limit it somewhat because of carbs & sugar but maybe i have to find the right balance. i think i'll definitely test out the Fiber 1 cereal..

I have half a serving of the Fiber One bran cereal (looks like rabbit food) with a serving of bran flakes and a bit of homemade granola almost every morning, and it's quite good and not too bad in calories.  It puts me at a pretty high fiber level, first thing in the day!

Trader Joes makes these high-fiber Os that have 9 grams per serving- I've always been irregular, but found that one serving of these and a few cups of water does the trick every day!

and of course, less meat/dairy and more fruits and veggies.

Oatmeal. Also, Costco is selling double fiber wheat bread made by Oroweat. I assume you can get it elsewhere. 6 grams of fiber and 100 calories a slice.

- Pumpkin, Spinach, Cabbage, Yam Noodles, Flaxseeds (and flaxseed oil), Olive Oil, Asparagus, Eggplant, Onions, Kale, Brussels Sprouts, Zucchini, Squash, Peppers, Tomatoes, Ezekiel Bread & Mushrooms --- This is only a FEW of the MILLIONS of food out there that have loads of fiber... but don't forget to drink a LOT of water when you increase your fiber consumption or else you will stay irregular! Good Luck!
