fiber one: what you might not know

hey guys, alot of people eat fiber one couse leik fiber helps clean your system adn stuff. BUt I just want you to know that while small amounts are good, too much can be harmful. I have a friend, she is 16 too, and she was verry concerned abtou her wieght. She ate liek 300% daily value of fiber every day for weeks. Soon she developed permenet colitus. It was very sad. I mean, thsi is an extreem case, but sometimes we can do crazy thinsg for diets, and it is easy to over dose with fiber one. ONLY ONE CUP HAS OVER 50% DAILY VALUE! so, yes, it is good, but as alwasy, you CAN have too much of a good thing. just thought I'd put that out there. good luck to every one!

Actually Fiber One has 14 grams of fiber in 1/2 cup serving, which is just over half of the recommended daily allowance. I eat it almost daily, to fill out my fiber intake, but also drink lots of fluids to make sure I don't get "stopped up". Been doing it for 2 weeks, no problems. Like you said, Alex, too much of a good thing, isn't!

For those of you who want some extra fiber without feeling like you're eating rabbit pellet food, Fiber One also makes honey clusters, which has the same amt. of fiber but in 1 1/4 cups. A little more sodium & calories but it's tasty as well.
I use Metamucal 3 times a day.
This gives me 9 grams more fiber for the day. It has no sodium and 20 cals per serving. It also helps with my iron intake, I get 2.1 mg iron. Some peopke can't take it with water. I can because I get the orange flavered. But you can also take it with orange juice, it's not so bad like that. Just like taking freshly squeed orange juice, with the pulp in.
yeah, sorry I ment one half cup of fiber one has over 50% so, yeah, really easy to over dose. and it's really hard on yoru stomic, I mean, yeah, tis' good, but eat 1.5 cups a day and your hurtign yourself badly.

Why would you eat 3 servings of cereal? I hope you aren't substituting all your other meals for just cereal!
UGH! no, that's not what I'm saygin, what I'm saygin is that 1.5 cups of searal is not hard to eat, espesually if you've bene told that fiber makes you loose wieght. jeez, I'm just trying to be help ful.....
