fighting the nervous nibbles
I'm a stress eater. There is no doubt. And while I've been doing pretty well. Down 27 pounds. The last couple weeks there have been lots of days where I've eaten right up to 2000 calories. Mostly in nervous nibbles. Two chips here. a cookie there. Mostly this happens late afternoon up until bed time. To spite a very good lunch and dinner.
Help. How do I fight the nervous nibbles? What has worked for you. Having veggies isn't really working for me.
That was hard for me also I eat grapes when i want to nibble on something. I would also try popcorn but the floor at my job smelled of popcorn for about an hour made lots of people hungry.
Are you eating whilst hungry or just for something to do? When I get stressed I tend to fidget ALOT and I just can't sit still, so if I'm hungry I do go to the kitchen, grab some fruit and take it outside for a mini picnic. If I'm not, then I'll take a book outside, or go to the gym or swimming or just for a walk. Anything to relax and get fit all at the same time is a bonus.
Use your stress energy positively! good luck
GUM! It's an oral fixation problem, fix it with some of the really yummy flavors of sugar free gum! Especially Orbit flavors, or try some of the fruity teeth-whitening ones. I used to be a snacker. Man, after I had my second baby, I was breastfeeding and ravenous all of the time. In the weeks after birth I was eating 5,000+ calories per day and convincing myself it was only 2K. Now, whenever I'm "in danger" of snacking when I don't want to, I get some gum. Trust me, there are enough flavors. After a while, I forget I wanted to munch. PLUS, it burns 11 calories an hour! After 20 minutes, you've burned off the 3 cals. in the gum just from chewing alone!
It also helps identify if you're really hungry... if, after 20 minutes, I'm still nagging to eat food, I know for sure its real hunger.
