I don't know if this counts as being quick and simple, but they look delicious!

Are these fresh or dried?  If fresh, I like to cut them in half, drizzle a little honey and broil them until brown on top.  They are delicious with some low fat goat cheese.

If dried, a trick for chopping them is to dip your knife in flour before cutting.  I like chopped, dried figs instead of raisins in oatmeal cookies.

and if you have fresh, try cooking them after slicing in half or keeping whole. Boil with lemon halves sugar or splenda.  A delicious jam

I have an amazingly beautiful fig tree in my front yard and I can't wait til the fruits grow so I can eat them and share with friends.  I love figs!!  Last summer, I cut fresh figs in half and wrapped a thin piece of proscuitto around each piece and layered them in a baking dish.  Drizzled with balsamic vinegar (and a bit of honey if you wish, but the figs are sweet enough).  Baked at 400F for about 12-15 mintues.  Such a great appetizer!

*drool* that sounds DIVINE!

There is nothing better than fig preserves.  You can make them with splenda.  I would love to have a fig tree in my yard!  My aunt had them when I was a child and I grew up loving them!  My grandmother made homemade fig newtons for her children.  I wish I had been around to have a taste!
