Cannot figure this out

Hi,

I have been at CC for seven months now and have only lost 10 pounds!  I am so fustrated!!  The only encouraging news is I haven't gained anything.  One week I will loose a pound or two, then I don't loose anything for weeks.  I read about others who have lost 20...30...50 pounds etc in the same amount of time I have been here and I'm getting discouraged!

I used to have a really high activity job so I was eating around 1500 cal/day.  In May my job changed to a sedentary setting, so I dropped my cal count to 1200 and exercise 3-4 times a week (eliptical for min of 30 minutes).

Any suggestions??

P.S. my stats are 36 yrs old 5'5" 162 lbs (working towards 135)

First, I would make sure the calories you're eating are good calories. Proteins, complex carbs, fruits veggies. Second, mix in some weight lifting either free weights or machines. The more muscles you work and build, the more calories you burn. I would increase the cardio, add the weights, and increase to 5 times per week.

I am in teh same boat as you! I was doing really well until i changed jobs and had less time to work out. Although I was eating close to the same I was just not working out as much. If you can and your part of a gym try going to spinning class. For me that is most of the cardio that I need it's normally an hr class. I burn around 500-600 cal (depending on how hard i work) and then I do some free weights. I try to go 3 times a week to mix up my workouts.

In the past 2 weeks I've been trying this new schedule and I've lost around 6lbs (my goal is -30 more :) ) Just remember that losing weight takes time and dedication. Change your routines and watch what you eat and you'll do great!!

Good luck :)

I have heard of a great weight loss program called STRIP THAT FAT! that sounds excellent. Perhaps you should consider something new like this?

Just go to the link below to read more.

STRIP THAT FAT!

Hope that helps!

It could be that the 1200 calories aren't the right kind... or if they are it could be that you're not eating enough.

Hey there. I would maybe recommend adding some weights into your exercise plan. I keep a pair of 10 pound free weights at home and do a few reps whenever I'm sitting watching TV, waiting for water to boil, etc.

As far as weight loss frustrations, obviously everyone is different, but I had a similar experience. I'd been doing a very challenging boot camp program 3 times a week for 6 months and hadn't lost ONE pound. Finally, for no apparent reason the weight just started falling off. I think for my body I just needed to build up the right amount of muscle before the fat really started being metabolized.

Another thing that worked for me was making sure I was eating more during the day, although my snacks were manly composed of raw veggies and nuts. I also significantly cut down my carbs at dinner. I was told by a trainer not to eat a ton of carbs at dinner since carbs=energy, and you just don't need that much energy before going to bed.

Don't get discouraged though. You just need to figure out what works best for your body and then I'm sure you'll start seeing the results you want.
