How can I get the figure I want?
Asked by anonymous on Apr 29, 2008 in Weight Maintenance

Can it be impossible to get the figure you want no matter how hard you try? Basically, I'm fairly happy with my figure now, but my thighs are still big.  Despite really hard work, I've only managed to shift a very small amount of weight from my thighs.  I eat exceptionally well and exercise SO hard 6-7 days a week but I can't shift the weight off my thighs. Shall I just except that they'll never change?

Answer

When it comes to the shape of your body, you can't always get what you want but you can get what you need!  A pear-shape is the name for the body–type where most of the fat is distributed around the hips and thighs.  That's compared to an apple-shape where fat is stored around the middle.  Being pear-shaped is associated with good health, including lower risk for heart disease and diabetes.  To draw attention away from your hips, wear dark colors below the waist and light colors on top.  Read more about dressing to flatter your figure at About.com and thank your pear-shaped body for serving you well.
