Finally broke the 260 barrier but..!
Hello, I am a male 38 years old, 6'0" tall heavy set last week I broke the 260 pounds barrier I went from 262 to 259, but now I am back at 262, what is going on? should I increase the amounto of exercise I do? any ideas?
Don't sweat it. If you ate the right amount of calories, it will go back to 259. The weight gain is probably temporary water retention or temporary slowdown of digestion, which leaves more food in your intestines.
ietk1097: It is hard to make a recommendation for what to do. 3 lbs is not a significant amount of weight and an increase like that overnight more likely has to do with water retention rather than a true weight gain. Give it time to play out. If you track your weight loss follow your trendline over time to get a real idea of your progress.

Hello,
I am/was in the same boat as you basically. 44, started at 269, current 253, started this life style change on 7/29/08. It takes time, got frustrated also with the up an down on the weight. However, listen to your body, let it tell you if you need more of something. Exercise everyday, walking, lifting weights, something.
I found I need more protein in my diet, and lifting weights has helped more than any other exercise for me. I try to get in 30-40 min 3-4 times a week. I know I need more.
Take a supplement, don't eat over your counter, do more activities than your meter says. Water, water, and more water.
Try to relax, if you are eating GOOD cals, your body will react.

Without knowing your stats and intake/output, it's hard to give specific ideas. But, here's my experience, fwiw.
I'm finding it is best to weigh and log every day (once, first thing in the morning after using the "facilities.") The green "trend line" on your weight log will help you see your overall trend, which will be downward if you are conscientious about your intake and output. Don't change anything right now. It takes a good month or so to see a permanent trend sometimes, and sometimes more.
Remember it is just as problemmatic to eat too little as eating too much. Although eating too little contributes to weight loss, you will gain the weight back, and more. That's no more helpful than overeating and both lead to serious health problems. It has to be relatively slow. Any sudden shift upward or downward is always temporary, in my experience, which is why the trend line becomes important.
Good job breaking that first barrier. Hang in there.
