Okay...I think I FINALLY found the solution
Well folks, after much agony, and confusion, frustration and weight gain, I think I finally found out wat my problem is. My doctor diagnosed me (for now) with PCOS. I'm not 100% convinced since the blood tests were inconclusive. My only symptoms so far have been loss of period for about a year, and an unusual 10-15 lb gain in about a year despite healthy diet and excersize. These symptoms are apparantly grounds for PCOS diagnosis. I am laso having my thyroid tested
Anyway, this at least gives me a bit of direction in terms of what to do with my diet and excersize program. I'm going to start following a pattern of eating that is coducive to improving symptoms of PCOS and insulin resistance. I'm 5ft lw: 84 hw: 107 cw: 105 and goal is about 95 (i'm very small). Can anyone with experience with this type of diet criique my eating plan and perhaps offer osme helpful tips ?
Breakfast: 1/2 cup oats w sliced banana and 1%milk, coffee or 2 eggs with half an ezekial engluish muffin and margerine
snack: apple or some other fruit
Lunch: cottage cheese with sugar free jam and soy nuts or english muffin with banana and pb, baby carrots
snack: small can o
f tuna or some sort of fruit
dinner: salmon or chicken, sweet potato with fat free yogurt and broccoli
sound good? any advice would be appreciated
I know people who weigh under a 100 lbs
they just can't put on weight
but i don't know anybody under 100 lbs who doesn't WANT to put on weight
i think the reason you haven't had a period in a year is pretty obvious, seems you have an eating disorder
you do not need to lose weight
and you do not need to restrict your calories
you need to seek professional help
did you even read what I wrote? Do you realize this is a forum for free speech, and the people who post here are NOT seeking to be told to get help? Not everyone in the world needs to hit this benchmark you have created for all human beings as being over 100lbs. How dare you diagnose me with an eating disorder when you have no idea of my diet and excersize habits. You need to get off your high horse and perhaps give some advice that is actually useful rather than skim through peoples posts and diagnose them with eating disorders that they do not have.
mkay pumpkin?
Any compassionate people with thoughtful comments on my current condition would e appreciated.
holy denial
You need your a** booted outta here.
frankly, i don't think anyone here will feel comfortable giving you weight loss tips
The menu you listed doesn't look like a starvation diet but 95 pounds isn't quite enough for you to be healthy. I know that 100 pounds is a 3 digit number and that would still be skinny, but that would be healthier. Right now you're going for a BMI of 17.9, which isn't healthy.
That said, I wouldn't accuse you of having an eating disorder from what you've said. But I think your goal isn't realistic.
frankly, thin_girl, your use of double negative is confusing and i don't know why you would accuse the op of having an ed when your username is more of a thinspo influenced pick.
guys, she's only 5ft, 95lbs is absolutely fine, don't go stealing her thunder. i'm no one to advise you, but your diet does look healthy and complete in nutrients.
ummm... did any of that make sense?
look,
i didn't mean to offend, and i'm sorry if i did.
based on her post her BMI on the underweight end, and she hasn't had a period in a YEAR
i'm not a lot taller than her and if i even weighed 100lbs it would be extremely unhealthy
i was just trying to tell her that the way she is explaining it, it seems very unhealthy. sometimes girls in that situation just aren't aware.
I guess once you get the tests results back from the doctors you can discuss with them what's healthy for you.
Honestly, you really don't look like you need to lose any weight, but it's not my business.
Anyway, your diet is good, although if you're exercising, some more calories wouldn't hurt.
Your diet looks fine and healthy. how old are you? I didnt get to check your profile. What is your excercise plan? I dont have PCOS but I know what its like to follow a certain diet so your body wont rebel. I have a friend that is tiny like her probably shorter and she has always been under the 100 mark. Only her doctor and can say she has an ED and thats obviously not what they found when she went there.
bmi is not always the most accurate factor to determine what is the best weight for the person.
like she said, she has PCOS, that could be the cause of her amenorrhea and since she has gained weight even though with decent diet and some exercise it's a cause for concern.
in terms of diet, you're doing no wrong. but with the diagnosis situation, seek a specialist's help because PCOS is a serious condition.
take care and good luck.
Tiny Dancer- go see your GYN. I checked out many of your other posts and no I don't agree that you have an eating disorder but I do think you want to have a "diagnosis" for your weight gain. Every year you are getting older, your body changes, you are small bet your GYN agrees this can mess with your period mine stopped when I lost 40lbs never came back. I have low BMI/high exercise and all this is playing into it. You are cutting & pasting your eating record on all posts, but your cal intake differs greatly as to how much you take in daily with each post in diff forums. You are visiting Binge sights which again goes back to needing something to talk about. Your weight isn't bad for the small frame you describe and yes even a 5lb gain feels like tons when you aren't used to that weight small frame or not. Clothes fit different and you feel different when you sit. You have referred to your trainer in previous posts, I am sure you have and were told to get a physical if you are so baffled. Any reputable trainer or doc will recommend tests. There is a disgnosis for everything if you look hard enough. Getting the "diagnosis" isn't the end answer, just a hurdle. Figure out how to deal and deal with it, if you are unsure of the diagnosis get a 2nd opinion join a support group (if it is confirmed) Other people of "your size"-- i am sure face the same issue. I am 5 2 and 120lbs avg, very tight and 38years old, you are much younger and no kids stop looking for issues and enjoy life for a little while! If you post expect to get feedback that you don't always agree with. We aren't here to coddle but rather support and suggest.

This is true, but there are alot of things to consider. There are the truly naturally thin people. these are the people who eat whatever they want and stay at a lower than average BMI. Then there are the people who under-eat to get to the lower than average BMI. The first group of people can be lower than average with no adverse effects. The second group (often) cannot. It all depends on things that we can't all see from the information given in tinydancer's post.
Tinydancer, the only thing we have to go off of is your menu. And that menu looks extremely meager to me. Anyone who has to eat that little to lose to a BMI of under 18, probably should not be there. No, I can't say for sure. You might be an exception. but the odds are against it, especially given your past history with food issues.
