finally, the good news

Yesterday, I went to the doctor for my annual exam.  When the nurse weighed me, she told me I was the perfect weight for my height.  When the doctor came in, her first word was "wow".  This loss of 70 pounds took me 1 1/2 years.  I told her about this great website and how it helped me to keep going.  Losing weight is a really tough thing to do, and I couldn't have done so well without you guys and this site.  Thanks!

Congratulations!! What an achievement! I've resented going to the doctor's for a long time, because nothing is worse than being told over and over that you are horribly obese and "off the charts". It'll be great, someday, to not have to feel that way. Good for you!

When you get to your goal, you won't hate going to the doctor.  I avoided going until I really had no choice.  Yesterday was such a relief!  If I could get the weight off, you can, too.  I started out thinking I had to lose 10 or 20 pounds--knowing I should lose 50, wishing I could lose 70.  Did you ever see the movie "All about Bob"?  It was all about "baby steps"--that was me all the way.  I'm probably as suprised as my doctor was about this.  I just kept setting realistic goals.  Had I decided right away that I needed to lose 70 pounds, I'm sure I would have been overwhelmed and given up long ago.  But that's just me.  One of the reasons I like this site is it's not a one size fits all kind of thing.  Interesting I should use that phrase!  Good luck to you

Congratulations!  I agree, babysteps, just work on one thing at a time.  The next 5 lbs, getting enough water, getting some exercise, eating healthier foods, etc.
