Find your NROLFW Twin

Quote  |  Reply

Ok I decided to create this forum to help everyone find a work out buddy to help motivate each other. I'm personally looking for someone who will be starting the workout program Next year.

Date started: I'll be starting January 5, 2009

Stage: Stage 1

Goal: To get stronger and burn some fat while building some muscle

Misc: I'm currently about 148 with a goal weight 140-145. More importantly I'd like to see my body transform from soft to "toned" and a light six pack wouldn't hurt Wink. I've lost weight before with lots of cardio and no weight lifting but I want to try a new method this time around.

Feel free to PM me if you want to be my buddy.

Date started: 2nd week nov 08

Stage: Stage 1

Goal: same: To get stronger and burn some fat while building some muscle (actually thats my goal but have not been watching the calories, defo been over)

Misc: I'm currently about 146 with a goal weight 140-135. altho i would also be happy to get back to where i was a couple of months ago.

Date started: Nov. 4/08

Stage: just finishing Stage 1

Goal: to lose weight without losing my metabolism (i.e. trying to lose mostly fat not muscle)

Misc: Joined this website on July 1, weighing ~178.  Weighed 155 when I started NROLFW.  Weighed 151.6 this morning!  (a new low; I basically bounced between 153 and 155 for the last week of October, all of November and the first ten days of December).  I'm eating 1800-2200 calories/day - usually over 1900.  Which is great 'cause I do love me my food.  Smile  I'm aiming for the 40-30-30 ratios in the book but rarely get closer than 50-25-25 as I'm not a huge meat eater and I don't particularly like nuts so there go the two "big" sources of fat and protein.

Date started: Oct 25 '08

Stage: just finishing Stage 1

Goal:  to lose weight and become stronger without burning muscle.  I want to burn the fat and build muscle too.

Misc: I weighed 189 when I started on Oct 25.  I now weigh 183-184.  My goal is to weigh 140-150 but be in shape and continue lifting weights.  I average around 1500-1700 calories a day.  I am now doing the Anabolic Diet to burn the fat.  As a side note, I did take measurments when I started NROLW and so far I am down 6 1/2 inches all over.

Date started: 10/28/08

Stage: stage 2 ( 3rd workout tomorrow actually)

Goal:  to lose fat and build strength and endurance

Misc:  I've been hovering between 141-143lb for quite sometime now--like months- even though I want to lose weight and see 127-130lbs as my hovering range I also watch my inches and re-measure every month or so. I know that I could have a nicely toned body if I could lose this fat covering it. I am usually between 1500-1700 cals for the day. I have loss .5" around my hips and waist since starting NROLFW but that is about it. I am 31yrs and 5'3''.

I'm behind everyone, maybe I can recruit someone from the procrastinators group :-)

well im actually procrastinating on the daily calorie suggestion & exercise logging. i started to log the exercises the first week & even write down a few meals that total up to the suggested calories but then i lost the papers & just been too lazy to do it again. starting next year for me on that.

I am finishing stage 1 this week, taking next week off for Christmas and then beginning stage 2 the following week. I have been anywhere between 137-145lbs for years and definitely prefer to be down in the 135 range. I was 140lbs when I began NROLFW and instantly gained about 5lbs. I finally had my husband hide my scale so I wouldn't obsess about it, and at the end of this week I am going to remeasure and reweigh. So...ultimately my goal is to lose about 5-10 lbs of body fat and tone up. I am 22 years old, 5 ft. 6 and I think about 145 right now.

I hope I don't get in trouble for double posting but I'm gonna put this out in the regular posts to see if I can find any takers.

CK we are kind of similar but you're ahead of me so I'll probably be asking you questions once I start.

I could be a twin:  I'm 148 pounds and starting over with NROLFW.  I started the program a couple times, but didn't stick to it, and haven't accomplished anything so far.  So I'm starting over in the new year.  Twice a week, probably Sun and Thurs.

Thank you (sigh of releif) it seems like everyone started months ago and was already in stage 25 or even 7. I've been borrowing the bookfrom the library because I'm too cheap to buy the hardcover, but the paperback just came out Dec 26, so I'm gonna buy it.

I'm not even sure if I've read the entire thing (I skip around alot) but I'm gonna try to go over it again and make sure I didn't miss anything. Sharz96 are you active on CC? Like do you visit atleast once a week? I'm on almost every day mon-fri so you can PM me any time. Why haven't you stuck to it the program in the past? do you do the work out and the meal program, or just the work out? I'll only be doing the workout and modifying the meal portion.

Date started: October 10 2008

Stage: Starting stage 3 tomorrow

Goal: To lose my skinny-fat appearance by dropping fat and gaining muscle. To be proud of how I look!

Misc: I don't weigh myself, although I'm somewhere around 115 at 5'5". I measured myself for the first timea few weeks ago, so I don't have starting measurements. I also run ~30 minutes 3x/week, although I'm dealing with an arthritic spur in my foot right now that's limiting my running and interval training.

Sorry to hear about the injury Emily, hope you heal soon.

I'm 49 yrs old 5'6" currently tipping the scales at 194 -- managed to gain 30 lbs recently - I'll be started this program once the gym at the college opens back up in mid january.  I'd love to get down to a mere 155 or a size 8 whichever comes first.

Welcome to the group DBacker. My first day of the program is today, and I'm actually nervous I mean I've started the healthy eating  although I think I might have a hard time eating the right amount of protein/carb/fat ratios. With it being only 10:13 I've only had breakfast and some coffee and I started to input what Intend to eat the rest of the day and I find it's going to be a little difficult to eat 1700 calories (I'mused to 1200-1400 or not counting at all) 1760 is my "maintenance" calories which the book suggest you eat to begin with to see how your body reacts. I'm sure I'll be complaining on you tube tonight lol, or maybe tomorrow when the soreness sets in lol.

forgot my bold

amayou82 when I am short of calories, I always find that a protein shake or some nuts is a good way to get your calories up fast!

Good luck on the program.  Just hang in there because I was very sore in the beginning of Stage 1 and Stage 2.  It gets better and is very much worth it, in my opinion.

I did my first set of stage one exercises last night.  So far, so good.  I feel a little soreness in some places, but I took it pretty slow and easy for the first attempt.  (Ex: body weight on squats and 3lb dumbbells on step-ups).

There are two reasons why I didn’t stick to it before.  First, I went at it too aggressively (as a totally newbie lifter) and was in agony two days later, and couldn’t run.  I love running, and I’m doing this program in large part to improve my strength to run better.  By the time I got past that, and tried again, I pulled a muscle when I lost balance on a lunge (Stage 1 B).  Not much of a pull, but enough that I couldn’t run.  Took a week and a half to recover from that.  And by the time I was ready to try again, starting with WAY lower weights (as I did last night), then we were into end-of-year crunch at work, holiday stuff, etc.  I just didn’t have the time and energy to focus on a new program.

So, back at NROLFW again, but taking it much slower this time.  Start slower, increase slowly, hopefully have less soreness and no injuries.

Date started: March 8, 2009 (yesterday)

Stage: Stage 1

Goal: To lose 20 pounds of fat, and retain the muscle I have.

Misc: I'm currently about 168 or so, and want to get to between 140-150. I want to be strong, and have my muscles supprt my bones. Right now my knees are really weak, and I hate them.

Hi! Welcome, glad you decided to join our intrepid band.  This is a great program!
