Quote  |  Reply

A lot of my favorite resteraunts, I can't find any nutritional info. on the web anywhere and when I go in and ask them if they have any, they act like they don't even know what that is.

Where can I find it??

Which restaurants? Some are really hard to find and if I can't find it I do a comparable restaurant. (some Perkins dishes are similar to something at Bob Evans for example.)  I THINK IT SUCKS WHEN ITS SO HARD TO FIND.  So unfair that we are not allowed to know what we are eating. Its not even like you can say, "Ill just get a salad...b/c half the time those are loaded with cals.  (Sorry for the rant.)

calorieking.com  Nutrition info for everything, food, brand names, fast food, and non fast food restaurants, great site!

Thanks. I've actually been to both of those sites and still can't find anything!!

It does really suck how hard it is.

It should be the law to have it all available!!!!!

I'm just not eating at the places who don't offer it any more. (which sucks cause some of them I really really love!!)

Have you tried dietfacts.com? They have tons of restaurants on there.
heres a place its mostly for weight watchers but it has calories to www.dwlz.com
If I am not mistaken, is there not a law (at least I think there is one in Ontario) that if you request nutritional information from a restaurant they are required to provide it?? Most restaurants have pamphlets or info online. Subway, McDonalds, Wendy’s, Tim Horton’s, apple bees (I think) all have pamphlets or online info about nutrition. Also, my mom recently joined weight watchers and they have a "dining out companion" that lists many, but not all restaurant information, but I think it is converted into points so not sure how helpful it is. One trick maybe, is before choosing a restaurant, call them asking how you can get nutritional information on their menu before dining out. I think most places in this health conscious society would be happy to help! Do you have any restaurants in particular in mind? Maybe we can help!! Good luck!!

This topic has come up many times.  The best one I've found (other than on About.com), is My Diet Power.  Use Google.  Type in:  My diet Power Fast Food Nutrition Information.  This takes you right to the page; there are about 100 restaurants (not all fast-food either), that give you this information by just 'clicking', and then you follow any instructions to get a specific food.

Some are easier than others, but ALL will give you 100% of what you're trying to find.  Diane

Gold Coast Coconut Shrimp, 13 points - based on WW system.

I keep a restaurant link on my bio-page, and refer to that before I eat out.  More examples of what I find (when I check out the OUTBACK link) are:

  1. Gold Coast Coconut Shrimp Marmalade Sauce, 1 Tbsp - 1 point.
  2. Kookaburra Wings, 1 - 5 points
  3. Kookaburra Wing Dip, 1 Tbsp -  2 points.
  4. Grilled Shrimp On The Barbie, 2 oz. 1 point.
  5. Grilled Shrimp on The Barbie Remoulade Sauce, 2 Tbsp 2 points.
  6. Walkabout Soup, 1 cup 5 points
I love a good challenge. What is an item you haven't been able to track down?

For me, it's the 'mom and pop' restaurant, that doesn't have a web-site; operates in a town of 400, and the locals don't give a darned what the calories are so long as the food is good.  Example:  Yogi's Restaurant - Vicksburg, Michigan.

I'm guessing this topic is focused on 'chain restaurants' , and I think they are pretty good about providing the nutritional information now that the USA has made such a 'big deal' about the past difficulties diners had when they had no idea what was going into the food they eat - how much; quality, etc.

I personally like the Panda Express; their broccoli and beef - their soup, and anything that is all vegetable (usually the lowest in calories).

I guess one of the things we should know when helping someone with calorie information on restaurants, is 'what do they prefer to eat' - then we can give them a better idea of what 'we know' through experience or where to reference the needed information.
