Why do I find veggies SO difficult to eat?!
I have a serious problem in the eating of vegetables!
I never ate them much, only when I really had to, but now im healthy eating, Im really trying to up my veggie intake.
Im OK with fruit and a small amount of veg. But when it comes to a big amount of veg it makes me physically gag. It just goes round and round in my mouth and I cant bear to swallow it without gagging.
Tonight I had a sweet potato and carrot curry, and I was fine to begin with, it was nice and tasty and I was enjoying it, but when I got nearer the end I as like "urgh, im gonna have to spit this out"
Why is this?! How can I stop myself being so silly?
And, most importantly, why cant I have this problem with crisps and chocolate!?![]()
A couple things to think about:
- Seems to me like a lot of people that say they hate veggies, end up liking them after a few weeks of try them. I have a hard time believing that people can hate ALL veggies, no matter how they're prepared.
- Prepare them differently. Make a stir fry or put them in an omelet.
- Get your 5-a-day in a little at a time. If you can only handle them in small doses, don't fight it. Eat a little throughout the day.

I rarely eat veggies plain, but I eat a ton of veggies. Plain veggies just don't interest me, and life's too short to eat food you don't like. Cook them into other things.
LOL. I had the exact same problem I'm glad I'm not the only one! But I'm slowly getting over it and every month it seems I can eat more more vegetables with out gagging.
Some people have a sensory thing where the texture of certain foods just squicks them out... since you have trouble with cooked vegetables, how about if you eat them fresh and crisp instead? Or cook them super lightly so that they stay firm? A vegetable curry has a very particular texture and it can easily become too much of a good thing...
it deff is a texture/taste thing. I can say I do hate some veggies. Like lettus, hate it! It takes too long to chew and swallow and its gets warm quick from chewing. gross. Carrots I cant eat raw only cook and soft. somethimes the way I cook them they have a sweet taste rather than a bitter taste. I like cucumbers but the seeds make me gag. I used to eat sliced raw radishes when I was younger. I dont really remember what they tasted like if they tasted like anything at all. I like spinach cooked. I love the general corn and green beans though. I favor green beans, its good tho b.c their low carb.

Figure out what type of eater you are and you might just find the answer to permanent weight loss.
