Finding a cheap gym in California
Does anyone have any suggestions on where I might sign up for a gym that won't cost me an arm and a leg? I'm a "starving" (haha) student, and can't afford to pay $60/month for Golds or $40/month for 24 hr or LA Fitness, along with a big lump sum down. I appreciate your help!
Thanks,
Krissy

How about your local junior college? Over here, Mt San Antonio College in Walnut has an excellent phys ed dept. I have taken aerobics and walking (yep walking!!!) - they have excellent facilities and very passionate instructors.

YMCA?
Humm,
If I were in your shoes, I would find me a nice used bike in a garage sale, buy me a new helmet and ride the bike path everyday for one hour.
Get a matt pilates tape and do some stretching/calistenics

Haha not many bike paths here in Hollywood. ;-)
And I actually used to work for the YMCA but had a major falling-out with the people, and so now I refuse to patronize them.
I'm considering getting some DVDs (good idea, thanks!), and in the meantime I just found out that CSUN - aka my school - has a full gym and pool and you can buy a day pass for 3 bucks.
Thanks for the advice and concern, you guys. :)

Walk around the rosebowl in Pasadena, it is free, you will find tons of people.
Buy a Bike at Walmart, keep it for a couple of years, $50.00 plus tax. pedal around the park(dont forget the helmet for another $20)
Buy a couple of dumb bells at $15.00 each, and tension bands for the legs and arms for another $50.00 and you got the basics for weight lifting.
This gym will last you for at least 5 years at a dollar per month after salvage value!
